Underseal
I’d think the likelihood of rust settling-in after a few days exposure is pretty remote. In my case the weather was bone dry in 2019 and I appled the underseal the following day. The underside is covered in underseal and where I slapped it on there was absolutely no difference in colour or texture.

Underseal
I used the Hammerite underseal with waxoyl. A small tin, which I’m sure is all you’ll need, was about a fiver I think. Bought it from Amazon IIRC. A lump came off the jacking point when I lifted the car to remove the alloys.

The 280PS Thread
Just interested. Why are you replacing the OE Monroes with Koni dampers; are they more effective/give more adaptations? What’s the issue with the silicate bag in the tank - braking-down and leaking/ blocking the galleries etc.?

The 280PS Thread
I’m guessing if you can configure an L&K you can order one. In my experience, most of the kids who work in dealers these days don’t even know left from right, let alone anything to do with accuracy of information.

2019 Superb 206 vs 2019 Golf R
And it’s more comfortable, more practical, almost as quick (literally less than a blink of an eye to 60) and just as well built… what’s not to like?

The 280PS Thread
Blimey - no posts on here for more than 6 months?!? Well, our lovely 280 is having a nice long rest in the garden, after I had a syncope incident on my first day back at work September; I then lost my licence for 6 months. They initially thought I might have had a stroke, so I was rushed by ambulance to the Stroke Unit at St George’s Hospital to but thank Gawd it wasn’t. I’ve had many, many tests, heart CT’s, MRI’s, a tilt-table test and finally, I’ve had a permanent heart monitor embedded in my chest in December. It automatically notifies the cardio team at the hospital if I have a cardiac problem. The good news it that I haven’t had a further episode so fingers crossed, I hope to have the licence back early March. Unless you’ve been here, you have no idea what an impact not being able to drive has on one personally, the family and, in my case, on not being able to undertake my part-time job too. But it’s the pleasure of driving the car I really miss, so make the most of your 280/272 every single time you get into it. Happy New Year everyone..👍🏻

Superb 280 mpg realistic
Having had a remapped MKII 170 giving 220bhp which could give 55mpg, I can assure anyone making the switch they will not be disappointed with a bog-standard 280…

Superb 280 mpg realistic
On our 2016 280, circa 26-27 urban and about 38 average on an 800 mile round trip to Ireland earlier this year. These are real MPG’s calculated on brim to brim refills.

A pair of gloves, heated if really needed, would be somewhat cheaper.

Are any of these better than the original discs? I recall reading the Brembos from ECP are rubbish…. allegedly.

2018 superb hatch rattling ??
You’re questioning the build quality? You should hear my mates 2018 A6! Re. your car, it could be the well-known fuel pipe rattling. Do a search; there are a number of threads about it. Here’s one for starters…

Honest opinions on E10 Vs the old E5 petrol.
That’s what and where I filled it before hitting the Cairnryan ferry to Belfast. I went to the Esso garage after I’d been to Morrison’s, as I thought Esso would have it. Went back to Morrison’s as their 95 was 5ppl less than Esso.

Yes, it’s in the same place on the 280. Says 98 (95). The Esso garage on the A75 just outside Stranraer didn’t sell it, just 95 and the Morrison’s in the town didn’t have any of their Super 97 (I think it was) either. Couldn’t find it anywhere in Northern Ireland and none in the South so stayed on 95. I’ve now got a few bottles of Redex octane booster which shoves 60L upto 97, which I’ll keep in the boot when we go there again.

Honest opinions on E10 Vs the old E5 petrol.
Skoda recommends all petrol engines run on 98 but like all the other petrol engines in the VW stable, the 280 will run without a problem on 95. I know it as fact, as I’ve had to use a couple of tankfuls in Scotland and Ireland where 98/99 isn’t available and it ran fine. It’ll also run fine on E10.

Honest opinions on E10 Vs the old E5 petrol.
I haven’t used the stuff in the 280 and will stick with Super 99. Nevertheless, it seems to be working fine in SWMBO 2003 Ford Focus 2.0, but it’s definitely affected the already abysmal 23 MPG but, it does only cover 3.5 miles per day!

Left side (from the boot) on our 2016 never drops either. Right side flies down.

New Superb 280
Having never driven a DSG prior to the 280, I totally agree with you. I’d had many slushbox geared vehicles in the past and even with pretty powerful vehicles (Scorpio Cosworth, Peugeot 604ti, Alfa 166 3.0) I found the lack of torque that was sapped and the inconsistency of gearchanges was awful and the DSG was a revaluation; no loss of torque, consistency of gear and the smooth changes were wonderful. And I understand DSG’s are getting faster too, almost upto sequential speed.

New Superb 280
It's a five door family car. Both versions are faster than a 289 AC Cobra to 60 as tested by Road & Track and Motor Trend. Thats all you need to know.
