Haldex 5 service interval
Knowing him and his fastidiousness, belt ‘n’ braces by the first owner.

Haldex 5 service interval
No, it was done at 18k at 3 years old, together with the DSG.

Bleedin’ ‘eck! I’ll have to have ours done, together with the DSG at the next service; it’s on 33.5K.

Brake fluid change criteria?

Brake fluid change criteria?
Manufacturers dealers will say every two years as brake fluid draws-in moisture from the air, lowering its boiling point and thereby its effectiveness. Now, this makes complete sense doesn’t it, with it being a product in a completely sealed system and with an air pocket it it’s top. 30-odd years ago, no one “changed” their brake fluid, it was just topped-up when brakes were bled when needed or possibly changed when a master cylinder failed. Now obviously this “oversight” led to huge numbers of accidents all over the world, as owners unknowingly drove round with water slopping around in their brake fluid boiled-away, and left them without effective brakes or, indeed, no brakes at all and components and pipework rotted from the inside-out. Nah, never happened; its another way to take your hard-earned, but what do I know. So if you feel you must on “safety grounds”, then every five years would seem to be more reasonable than the £70-100 they kerchang every two years.

Failed, an eyewateringly expensive control unit on a 2016 Superb Estate
Of course, there is still no strategy to deal with the removal and dismantling of Lipo batteries from vehicles, and how to deal with the dangerous materials they contain and for that reason, I really don’t believe that electric vehicles are the long-term solution for passenger or trade vehicles.

Skoda Superb automatically switched to S instead of D on the display
Yeah, I kept inadvertently doing exactly that on ours when I moved it from park to drive. We had a 450 mile drive yesterday and at one point I thought the DSG had broken as it refused to change gear….. til I looked down and at the gear lever and realised I’d knocked it across to manual. 🙄

Coasting.......
Hmmm… odd. Maybe Coasting is not available on the 7 speed DSG?

[FIX] Ski Hatch Handle broken off
Congratulations on the brilliant fix, Komap!! In the 16 years of owning Superbs, I can honestly say I’ve opened the hatch once, in the MKI. It had an early “Simply Clever” idea, which was a built-in, but removable ski cover, so that one’s family wet skis didn’t drip all over the inside of the ones car!

You are, without doubt, a nutter! You know a couple of hot water bottles would’ve been a lot less hassle!😂 But huge respect for doing it AS; you have balls ‘o’ steel my friend! 👏

That’s good new, as SUK will only consider goodwill payments against those vehicles which had been serviced and/or repaired within the franchise network and I certainly wish you luck on getting a big contribution to the cost of that £3,500 part, which cost VAG £18 to have made including devcost. It’s utterly immoral what they charge.

1 And all you need to do is tap the accelerator and it starts, missing all of one or two seconds and two passing cars and then to switch it off. 2 Hmmm, well fortunately for those like us with a DSG gearbox, as it says in the Manual, “For vehicles with automatic transmission there is no automatic engine shut-down when the system detects a manoeuvring action due to a large steering angle”.

Blindspot detection and lane assist
Probably a good idea to add your general location in the world to see if there are members in the area who could ad the coding?

Wonder why it’s so annoying for some, to remember to disable stop/start with that thing… ermmmm…. what is it….. it’s on the tip of m…. YES, I remembered; it’s A SWITCH?!? You don’t forget to turn a key or press a button to start it, so why is pressing the Stop/Start disable switch such a faff?

Given where you’re getting the alignment undertaken, was the dealership in question Hendys?

Ours is a 2016, so thankfully it doesn’t change the driving mode to Normal after switch off. Never could fathom the reasons behind that decision, which was much to the annoyance of of Skodians who’d discovered the “feature” once purchased. 🙄

I recall the telephone unit failing on our MK2 and a new unit was £700+vat which was utterly ridiculous. I bought a used unit for £170.

New owner help needed
Ahhhh, right. Do you know when it was introduced?

Is the electric element auxiliary heater an option in the U.K.? In my experience, our 280 heats-up within one mile regardless of the outside temp.

Left front wiper
Given all VAG vehicles have Bosch / Aerotwins fitted, they probably are costing them 15c a unit.

Left front wiper
If only this was true! TBH, I now replace the blades not the entire wiper. Still working fine after two winters, but I think I’ll be changing them again soon.
