Can do both those in our 280 in Eco mode, which I actually use most of the time, as I’ve always been a fan of coasting when I can. I know people say there is a throttle delay in Eco, but I’ve not really noticed it tbh. I find if I need to accelerate fast to overtake, depending on the speed I want to achieve, I just blip the left paddle once or twice…. OK, normally it’s the latter! 😅

Yeah that filled me with dread! At crossed my mind when looking at PhilD2 pic was that the 90 degree joint was probably at the lowest point of the pipework, so it was probable that any blockage was there, so just a lucky guess really.

So I removed the jet unit and poked a thin cable tie down the feed tube but it was too short to reach the bottom. I got a much longer but thicker tie and cut it down the centre to reduce its width. I poked this gently up and down the pipe hitting the bottom of the 90 degree angle and after a few goes, hey presto, the water bubbled-up the pipe and out of the top! The car had been standing for 6 months following me rescinding my license following a suspected stroke, so I’m sure it was just blocked by the screen wash crystalising at the bend. Anyway, works perfectly now and thoroughly soaked a couple of people on the NS and OS pavements earlier this afternoon; oops… I really must re-adjust them jets!

Thanks for that. I’m away from home for a couple of weeks at the moment so I don’t have my trim removers to get the cover off the back of the tailgate, so I think I’ll give it a go from the outside, by popping the jets off again and then pushing a thin cable tie down the pipe to see if that un-gunges it. Bloody annoying to say the least!

I’ve got the same issue now. I’ve removed the washer jets and they’re clear and there’s nothing coming out of the new exposed pipe, so I’m assuming it’s blocked at the 90 degree elbow; there’s no water appearing anywhere else in the boot or from the camera / number plate light apertures.

Have another trip to the Emerald Isle shortly and I’m going for our economy this time to see if I can ge…… nah, it won’t happen. 😜 In our MKI Elegance 140 TDI I used to regularly get over a true 60mpg at 60mph, but I was doing 110 miles a day on 70mph A roads and the M25/M4. 55mpg was the best I had in the MKII CR220.

I know two and have met at least 10 others and not one of them have said they get “used” to the acceleration, the braking and cornering abilities and the speed, far from it in fact. They all say you have to have the utmost respect for the car or it’s performance will bite you. “…..the relatively slow 276bhp Superb 4x4” Really? Relative to what? A Tesla Dual Motor in Ludicrous mode? A Bentley Conti GT perhaps? Or a Ruf GTR? As I’ve pointed out before, “the relatively slow 276bhp Superb 4x4” is faster to 60 than a 289 AC Cobra and it is a £38k mass produced 5 door car. It’s performance which could only been achieved from a super car 20 years ago and just dreamt about for a “normal” vehicle which a salesman, bank worker or teacher could buy; it’s plenty fast enough for me.

Most of my driving is 6 mile round trip twice a day and a few longer urban runs. I’m getting an average 27.7 over 783 miles. When we did a trip to Ireland last year, we averaged 36.6 over 1,400 miles. But what you won’t get on the 1.5 is 276bhp in front of you, put down to all four wheels and the big grins that can deliver!

They’ve never been up for replacing trim under warranty. That fact is, they’d all be failing if it was down to detergent damage, so no, it’s a manufacturing fault, pure and simple.

Well, I think I would. I got one from Vredestein when I had an issue with sidewall collapse and they paid compensation.

Yeah, as you point out, your experience is far, far worse than mine. I’d be getting onto Pirelli about them TBH.

Just goes to show the MoT test has too many areas which are open to interpretation. Our P7’s have 31,178 miles on them from new and they all have cracking around the outside edge of the tyre. Passed the MoT without an advisory 10 days and 34 miles ago, and they are very tough. In spite of protestations from another member recently, they still have at least 10k miles in them; no idea if they’ll start delaminating before then, but whoa betide Pirelli if that should happen.

I like DCC. Didn’t pay for it as such as it’s an L&K so it was standard and I bought the car from a Briskodian so he’d taken 45% depreciation. I especially like Comfort on motorways and sport on quick B roads, but like you, Normal is exactly that.

I’ve used a CTEK M5.0S for more than 5 years, first on out MKI for four years and then on our 280 for the past six months and it works fabulously.

Taking a crowbar is far too drastic for my liking. Like everything, the position one sits in the driving seat be comes habitual. So I purposely moved the position of my ar$e over to the left by about 10mm each time I got in the seat and that fixed my similar issue.

Hardwired our Nextbase cam via the fuse box behind the glovebox. Placed the cable behind the airbag on the A Pillar, under the headliner to the smart assist camera housing and then to the dashcam. No ferrite core needed and no DAB interference issues whatsoever.

I replaced the standard bulbs with these last year. They’re excellent.
