  1. What model system is fitted? If it’s a Columbus it’s Press the key CAR → Settings→ Factory settings. Trip counter reset is on the bar just above the steering column. Have you downloaded the owners handbook?
  2. After my recent experiences with the main dealer system in England, Northern Ireland and Eire vs a local independent, I’ll never use the network again.
  3. As per my profile - 2016 280
  4. I made-up that example of predictive text. You can turn it off on an iPhone. While editing any text, touch and hold or . Tap Keyboard Settings, then turn off Predictive. No idea if you can do the same with a droid unit. Did you get any further with finding a solution to your KESSY issue?
  5. Are the front brake calipers on the 280 a single or dual pot unit?
  6. I changed the profile to Audi without any problems.
  7. During a chat at the weekend with a Master VW tech at a social event, I asked if there was any adjustments or way to change the shift pattens on the DSG and he assured me all the YT Vids and posts re. a so-called DSG reset are nonsense; it’s not possible, even with their factory equipment.
  8. Well that shot down that idea. Yes, predictable texture is a pain in the Netherland regions…
  9. Weird. I know there is a slam lock setting, which when activated does exactly what you describe. Did you buy the car new? I ask as I guess that could’ve been activated prior to your purchase. PS - what’s the Karla forum?
  10. When you enter the city, in the bottom left-hand corner, there’s a button marked “Postcd”. Fill her boots…
  11. I would continue using a main dealer for all the above reasons and we have benefited directly with both our MKI and the MKII because of this. However, since the 5 year warranty expired in March, not having an offer of an extension, plus the recent abysmal experience I’ve had with the U.K. dealer network here and in Northern Ireland and then the complete opposite with a local VW specialist, I’ll never use them again. PS - I too would definitely get it switched to variable servicing at the first service.
  12. Ahhh, so it’s the steering rack, not the column. Did you notice this “strange sound” as you took it to the dealer? My experience with dealers and damage caused whilst in their possession is that it’s never covered by anything. A dealer broke the driver door handle on our MKI; they denied they’d done it and said it was like that when I brought it in; I had to pay for the replacement. A dealer failed to replace the oil filler cap on the MKII and the bay was covered in oil. Apparently it must have “fallen off”. Really? Well, I pointed out that’d be their fault and yet they still refused to pay for a replacement and bay clean. I took the 280 to a dealer to replace the right-hand side steering wheel controls. On trying to open the bonnet to disconnect the battery, they broke the cable release. Ahhh, well, there must’ve been something wrong with it and in any event, that wouldn’t be covered by warranty and they then refused to fix it and, thereby, the warranty work too, until I paid for it to be fixed! And SUK and their dealers wonder why they they’ve got such an unfair reputation for ripping-off customers…
  13. We have a heated screen on our 18 year-old For Focus (Ford introduced Quickclear in 1969 in the USA and patented it in ‘77 - it expired in 2011) and only if you try really hard can you see the wire elements. There can be a slight distortion of rear lamps, especially after dusk, but after a few trips, your brain will just ignore it and everything looks normal. I’ve found Quickclear is faster acting than the gold coating which VW have on their version, which is used across various marques and models (the Superb is one) however there are no visible elements.
  14. Sorry. I thought it could be the reason. Can the information displayed be changed in settings? (I add that I have not tried this myself).
  15. Have you got full park pilot, so front, rear and side sensors fitted? If not, it won’t give the display in Pic 2.
  16. Hell’ll freeze over first….
  17. I think the reason is that it is probably for the hatch, but it isn’t clear. 🙄
  18. Very true, albeit should they open the package, they’ll establish the the U.K. cost of the item and then add the VAT based upon that usual landed number. C&E can basically do as they wish.
  19. Lucky you and not necessarily; I’ve had a counter experience with AE. I’ve made a statement of fact Re the U.K. Customs and Excise law, nothing else. Almost certainly, the struts advertised on AE and elsewhere will be made by the same local manufacturers used by VAG for their Chinese production lines and should be of the same “quality” or hopefully, somewhat better!
  20. Obviously you mean except for circa £100 for VAT and 2.5% import duty. VAT and duty are both applicable to anything imported to the U.K. costing >£135. There you go…
  21. £700+ for a couple of bits worth £100 at the most. If they were precision engineered items I could understand it, but it’s clear form the failure rate, they ain’t. God I’m sick of rip-off parts prices, especially when one knows what the mark-ups are on these.
  22. Itl’ bee sheet….
