  1. Which version of Columbus are we looking at here?
  2. You're too far away from me I'm afraid. But I had something similar on my Yeti, I'll have a think. For reference, this is my issue. https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/20329/
  3. Whereabouts are you? And what's the problem?
  4. The momentary lapse of power sounds like XDS. Annoying (or rather disturbing) but effective when needed.
  5. Just remember you can buy from Tayna on Ebay, and they're invariably cheaper than buying from their online store. https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/taynabatteries
  6. Unless you have VCDS (or some diagnostics program & hardware) you won't be able to make it work correctly. I'm not in a position to say you can do this yourself, but generally if you have to ask the question then the answer is probably no.
  7. Your existing Quadlock connector will fit either a Columbus or Amundsen and everything will fit. You'll need a GPS antenna for sat nav to work though.
  8. You'll need one of these if your gonna fit either a Columbus or an Amundsen.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Superb-Stereo-Fascia-Plate-/304133493817
  9. I'm in North Yorks, which is unfortunately a fair drive from Merseyside. Trim will depend on what you currently have, post a pic of the unit fitted in your car please.
  10. Hi, that one will work, but it may not fit correctly depending on what actual Bolero you have fitted currently. On the Superb there were a couple of options and you might need some trim parts to suit the new one. You'll also need the security code for the new unit, and you'll need a GPS antenna to make the sat nav function. Then there'll be some coding to do with VCDS to make it all function correctly. So, straight swap no, but it can be made to fit & work. Also, it's a little overpriced maybe, for the same money I could fit you a Columbus system and all coded to work correctly. The only issue would be the trim parts which I can't see from here... 😅
  11. On an Elegance as pictured there's only one faceplate applicable.
  12. It'll need the security code, yes. But as he fitted it in the Roomster initially I presume this is available.
  13. Nothing is plug & play, there's always something to do. For example you might not have steering wheel controls, you might have bluetooth already fitted in which case you'll need to disable one of the devices, you'll need to enable navigation in the car so that directions show in the dash.
  14. Yes, the fascia is different. I have one here if you need it, can do £25 posted.
  15. Complete new (brand new) screens are £250 or so last time I checked. Takes less than a half hour to replace.
  16. Without seeing an autoscan it's unlikely anyone can help. After all, we don't even know what car you might be working on.
  17. The off road button also limits torque at low revs to help prevent wheel spin due to excess throttle input. Try it sometime. Press the button and see how little performance you have pulling away from standstill.
  18. Up to date software and related stuff is reserved for genuine customers of Ross Tech. If you bought your software and cable from elsewhere you should ask the person who took your money for technical support.
  19. Just be aware there are some cloned cards with the part numbers of a 32Gb card on eBay, and they're only 16Gb.
  20. I think this is more a problem with the Columbus software. Depending on the age and software level of the unit, early ones didn't have the functionality for those features I seem to recall.
  21. I'll use the same method which lead you to ask the question in the first place. You seem to think your headlights are dim, ergo replace the bulbs. An old Yorkshire saying, "You don't need to understand how something works to know it isn't working.".
  22. If headlights appear too dim, put new bulbs in. The end...
  23. Cheers chimaera, Mike, it's not unusual for a satelite lock failure, but sometimes it's a simple fix/replacement of the radio board. If you wanna send me your unit I'll diagnose it and give you an idea of what's up on a no fix no fee basis. All it'll cost you is postage to North Yorks (or drop it in if you're close by).
  24. It's a stock photo from Google, not any specific mechanic I'm afraid.
  25. A lot depends on the model of vehicle, age, spec etc. But all VAG FM radios use diversity switching, one antenna usually on the roof and another in usually the rear screen. If the vehicle has a roof FM antenna then DAB can also be built into that antenna (or in the rear screen sometimes). Some vehicles with panoramic sunroofs don't get a roof antenna at all. Short answer, anything goes I guess.
