On left hand drive vehicles I’d assume the non central fitting would work to your advantage - that is, giving you a few cm leeway from the kerb?

Camera in mirror is used on vehicles with the expensive area view option - not many I’d think…….

I'll have a check on the longer time test....... Right, test done again - I can confirm leaving the keys in the boot, as in the video, results in the boot door locking and then 2 seconds later unlocking. Leaving it for 7 minutes made no difference, still remained unlocked. In all fairness I didn’t expect anything other inasmuch as the ‘unlocking’ releases the boot door by about 20mm. Interestingly the red LED alarm indicator continues to flash but opening the boot doesn’t trigger the alarm?

Curiously I tried that too - It is possible to lock (my) the car, with the spare fob inside…!

Well I tested it over again yesterday - if I unlock just the boot, leave the key on the boot floor and slam it shut. - it does indeed lock but 2 seconds later it unlocks again and stays unlocked.

The entire locking the keys in prevention thing is quite clever in one respect and quite a worry in another - vis a vis, it's such a complicated bit of tech and at what cost when it goes wrong? Either way, armed with the spare key I had a play around - you can lock a key in the boot just as long as you've got a key in your hand outside - but if you move the spare out of range it will lock for a few moments but then unlock again. Fully locking the car with the door sensors is disabled with a key inside, unless you've got the spare in range.

I spent the first 2 or 3 minutes having a pointless AI interaction that for all intents and purposes amounted to ‘tea or coffee, sir’ - ‘you must choose one or the other, try again please’. Instead of implementing all this AI malarkey - how about we fix the naturally stupid ones at head office that think having AI answer the phone is going to impress customers?

Well, here we are 5 weeks on from collection and no sign of the £200 goodwill, dealer says it's with Skoda UK to sort and Skoda UK are playing dumb, 'Goodwill Payment -are you sure?' - they say there's no case file relating to my vehicle and I'm to double check with the dealer that £200 was indeed offered - I just knew this farce would turn to dust - I trusted the salesman to sort it.....idiot I am, I'm old enough not to have fell for such a ruse. As an aside, the call / line / quality to Skoda UK is abysmal. Are the calls handled by a far eastern call centre I wonder or was I unlucky to get someone with a strong eastern accent?

That’s exactly what I’ve done - fitted a set of 16” alloys with high profile CrossClimates that I never got around to selling when I parted with the previous Karoq - perfect for the nightmare roads of north Nottinghamshire. Gives the motor a more rugged look too - as opposed the trendy but effeminate look of the original wheels……😎

A DSG box can never cover all scenarios to have the smooth take off as found in a fluid coupled box, or indeed a CVT box. If the DSG engages when the engine is above tick over then there’s going to be sudden surge and that happens when you go too quickly from the ‘brake on’ to ‘power on’, in effect you can ‘beat the box’. Also, do some rapid brake-accelerator-brake-accelerator when setting off and the box becomes confused for a moment or two, seemingly refusing to move in that moment you want to go which, invariably, leads to even more power applied and when it does engage it’s followed by much grappling for grip. Puts me in mind of the late 60’s, my early motorcycling days, the Honda Super Cubs had to be on nothing more than tick over before you engaged the box else the machine would leap forward and if you were daft enough to engage with more than a fast idle the machine would be out from between your legs at a startling pace!

My tray has the wireless charger so the short lead is a non starter for me, I’ll give the little memory stick a go…… …….Such as shame VW / Skoda didn’t provide a more suitable option or indeed, a SD card slot in the glove box, where it used to be!

Yep, our main dealer is local, 30 minutes walk or a 10 minute bus ride, so very convenient and I was very happy with their business model - that was until Covid struck. The restricted interaction with customers and the no frills basic servicing at inflated prices must have struck a chord with ‘em because since then they’ve mostly adopted those practices and become very mercenary too. Being there is not a pleasant experience these days. Booking a service has to be planned 6 weeks in advance and the mere mention of a warranty fault gets the stock response ‘we’ll have to charge for diagnosing and you’ll be refunded if vindicated’….! I’d like to think they’d see me as a good customer having bought 3 new cars in 5 years and I’ve never bothered ‘em for a courtesy vehicle, but no, I feel I’m a inconvenience to ‘em and that contributes to the given overall impression that they’d be happier if their business didn’t involve the need for customers. I have considered taking my servicing business (no more new Škoda for me) elsewhere but the next nearest dealer has access and serious parking issues and the second option alternative dealer is owned by the same company as my local agent.

I miss the option to use a USB memory stick for media files, yes there’s 2 USB sockets but not positioned for stick use……

Skoda dealer near me has become very mercenary in the last few years - so much so I think I’ve bought my last Škoda………

I find it impossible to accept that a manual gearbox could behave as this one allegedly does……?

My July 24 Karoq has got an annoying trait - I can go for miles without problem and then all of a sudden a high frequency vibration buzz is emitted from somewhere around the drivers side centre vent. It sounds like a small screw or similar is rattling on a tray. A little bit of pressing / pressure applied to the area generally fixes it for a while. I can’t replicate it, even by driving the same stretch of road, so I know how my complaint will be greeted by the dealer. Question, anyone know how to remove the vent from the facia? BJ Nottingham.

In my last Karoq (non wireless) I just attached the iphone via the cable to use the 'CarPlay' - no 'dongle' needed.......if I wasn't needing the live maps the phone just connected via Bluetooth.

I may be missing something here but, doesn’t the automatic locking only apply when the vehicle has been unlocked but none of the doors have been opened? I suppose the statement might be a clumsy way of saying ‘to prevent the boot re-locking if the key is inside’? Either way, it’s quite clever how the car knows there’s ‘the’ key inside - and yet is happy to ignore a key inside if you use another to lock the car, not tried the same with the APP.

Reading through the thread it sounds as if someone snaffled the spare wheel and kit and replaced it with a inflation pack from a much older vehicle - it would explain the wire ring cap removal tool?

I know that road well - as you say, dropped to 30 without any advisory signage - as is the norm now for NCC. When another local road (50 years a 40 limit to my knowledge) was similarly castrated from 40 to 30 without any notices I complained to NCC and was passed from pillar to post. Bottom line was that as a driver I should be paying attention and that notices advising of a lower speed limit are not necessary! I dispute that, a new sign may well catch your attention but remove a sign and you’d be very fortunate to notice.

No, the car knows exactly what the limit is as per the dash, I get a small 20 -30 - 40 - 50 -60 else 70 miniature roundel that flashes if overspeed and the speedo shows a red marker at whatever the limit is as well as giving a audible gong whenever the limit changes, be that up or down. Tis true, I am aware of my surroundings and generally know what the limit is, I'm not given to 'speeding'. However, in these country parts in which I live a growing trend, along with the stupid oft used 20mph areas is the creeping out of the 30 / 20 limits, that is, moving the zone further out, often into fielded areas, which in turn the so called 'safety team' take advantage. If you've travelled a road for 50 years it takes time to get used to a new limit. Anyway, I digress, bottom line is does anyone else notice the lack of a audible warning when carrying speed into a lower zone?

Neither my 2022 Superb or the 2024 Karoq 'limit' my speed, they just nag for a few seconds and then cease - I thought that maybe the Karoq system relied on GPS / mapping data but not strictly true, it picks up reduced limits in roadworks and the overhead gantries on motorways. The Superb system is different inasmuch as it warns of a lower limit ahead and if in ACC mode starts to slow automatically so that you enter the lower limit zone at the correct speed.
