Dash Rattle / Vibration / Buzz
My July 24 Karoq has got an annoying trait - I can go for miles without problem and then all of a sudden a high frequency vibration buzz is emitted from somewhere around the drivers side centre vent. It sounds like a small screw or similar is rattling on a tray. A little bit of pressing / pressure applied to the area generally fixes it for a while. I can’t replicate it, even by driving the same stretch of road, so I know how my complaint will be greeted by the dealer. Question, anyone know how to remove the vent from the facia? BJ Nottingham.

Karoq WLAN
I suspect not - seem to recall a screen notice about all calls in via Carplay......

Karoq WLAN
In my last Karoq (non wireless) I just attached the iphone via the cable to use the 'CarPlay' - no 'dongle' needed.......if I wasn't needing the live maps the phone just connected via Bluetooth.

57nl campaign?
I may be missing something here but, doesn’t the automatic locking only apply when the vehicle has been unlocked but none of the doors have been opened? I suppose the statement might be a clumsy way of saying ‘to prevent the boot re-locking if the key is inside’? Either way, it’s quite clever how the car knows there’s ‘the’ key inside - and yet is happy to ignore a key inside if you use another to lock the car, not tried the same with the APP.

'72 plate Superb Mk111 no jack as there's no spare wheel?
Reading through the thread it sounds as if someone snaffled the spare wheel and kit and replaced it with a inflation pack from a much older vehicle - it would explain the wire ring cap removal tool?

Speed Alert
I know that road well - as you say, dropped to 30 without any advisory signage - as is the norm now for NCC. When another local road (50 years a 40 limit to my knowledge) was similarly castrated from 40 to 30 without any notices I complained to NCC and was passed from pillar to post. Bottom line was that as a driver I should be paying attention and that notices advising of a lower speed limit are not necessary! I dispute that, a new sign may well catch your attention but remove a sign and you’d be very fortunate to notice.

Speed Alert
No, the car knows exactly what the limit is as per the dash, I get a small 20 -30 - 40 - 50 -60 else 70 miniature roundel that flashes if overspeed and the speedo shows a red marker at whatever the limit is as well as giving a audible gong whenever the limit changes, be that up or down. Tis true, I am aware of my surroundings and generally know what the limit is, I'm not given to 'speeding'. However, in these country parts in which I live a growing trend, along with the stupid oft used 20mph areas is the creeping out of the 30 / 20 limits, that is, moving the zone further out, often into fielded areas, which in turn the so called 'safety team' take advantage. If you've travelled a road for 50 years it takes time to get used to a new limit. Anyway, I digress, bottom line is does anyone else notice the lack of a audible warning when carrying speed into a lower zone?

Speed Alert
Neither my 2022 Superb or the 2024 Karoq 'limit' my speed, they just nag for a few seconds and then cease - I thought that maybe the Karoq system relied on GPS / mapping data but not strictly true, it picks up reduced limits in roadworks and the overhead gantries on motorways. The Superb system is different inasmuch as it warns of a lower limit ahead and if in ACC mode starts to slow automatically so that you enter the lower limit zone at the correct speed.

Speed Alert
Correct - they are on automatically - it can be switched off vis the 'Car' menu. I'm happy to have the system, it's not too intrusive - it's just that it doesn't give an audible alert if I carry too much speed into a lower limit area.......

Speed Alert
Is my recently purchased 2024 Karoq faulty I wonder?* The speed alert thing generally works fine, giving me a ‘bong’ within feet of a change in limit. If I creep over the limit by about 3 mph I get 3 bongs. However, if I go into a lower limit carrying a bit of speed, nothing! Admittedly the little speed limit roundel on the dash flashes, but no audible alert. If it’s working as designed then it’s flawed. The system in the Karoq works differently from my Superb where I get a much larger visual alert and a hard to ignore audible signal. Only ever had 2 speeding tickets in my 70 years and both were for carrying a little too much speed into a 30 limit. * Yes I’ll speak to the dealer but in all fairness I feel I know what the answer will be, ‘ it’s a characteristic sir’………

Is the Karoq 1.5 DSG any good
It's true they aren't ACT engines, the Superb is a 2.0TSI and the Golf a 1.6TDI. Yes, it is.

Is the Karoq 1.5 DSG any good
I find our 2024 model reluctant to go into 7th unless I'm doing 50+mph or so - infact it's very difficult to have it saunter along in any gear at less than 1500 rpm - my Superb and Golf are quite happy to do just that.

Driving modes and gearbox behaviour
That’s the long and short of it - curious thinking / logic by VW’s software writers.

3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
Interesting - it’s hard to imagine a reason why someone thought it necessary to write new software to remove the numbers……
-
3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
To be clear. - I’m talking downshifts under load - that is such as climbing - changing down from 7 to 6 or 5 to maintain speed, I can’t tell as I don’t get the gear number displayed.
-
3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
I’m thinking the rushed gearbox software update that caused the hold up might have been exactly that, rushed? Not happy that for all its fancy ‘virtual cockpit’ it doesn’t tell me what gear I’m in….! And the downshifts under load are well harsh - like a learner driver not correctly timing the clutch / power.

3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
Collected mine yesterday - the £200 was mentioned as ‘being in the system’ and there being a ‘note on the file’ - I’ll let it ride for a few days before insisting on some tangible evidence that I have the credit. I’m fairly happy with the purchase, appears to be the latest spec version and as bonus includes Varioflex rear seats. I’ve not been far in it but first impressions are not great, it’s a bit jerky setting off and down changes under load are in your face too, not as smooth/seamless as my 15 year old Golf or indeed our Superb. Also (though yet to investigate further) there’s no gear number indicator, D1 D2 etc., except in ‘manual’ mode, And the speed warning thingy is a bit quirky. It seems to pick up all the changes in speed limits ok, even overhead gantry variables, but only ‘beeps’ if you creep over the limit - entering a lower limit at excess speed doesn’t trigger the audible warning, just the tiny speed rounded on the dash flashes?

2024 Karoq alloy wheels
Picked my new SEL up today - it too has Miran - I'm not fussed about the wheel style - seems to have some extras I didn't expect, 10" virtual cockpit and wireless charging.........

Go for the smaller one - tight is better - though I’ve seen video of these things being easily overcome.

3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
So, had a phone call this a.m. 'Can I pick up the motor today as Skoda have 'released' the cars?'.......hmmm salesman was unable to confirm that anything had actually been done to my Karoq - all very suspicious - and No I can't just drop everything to collect, I don't care how 'hectic' it is at the dealership, you'll just have to wait.

Superb Mk4
Had a crawl over a showroom L&K 4x4 estate this afternoon - certainly looks nice and desirable but I didn't get the 'must have' feeling.........one negative was the centre armrest, no longer height adjustable and thus too low for me......
