Correct - they are on automatically - it can be switched off vis the 'Car' menu. I'm happy to have the system, it's not too intrusive - it's just that it doesn't give an audible alert if I carry too much speed into a lower limit area.......

Is my recently purchased 2024 Karoq faulty I wonder?* The speed alert thing generally works fine, giving me a ‘bong’ within feet of a change in limit. If I creep over the limit by about 3 mph I get 3 bongs. However, if I go into a lower limit carrying a bit of speed, nothing! Admittedly the little speed limit roundel on the dash flashes, but no audible alert. If it’s working as designed then it’s flawed. The system in the Karoq works differently from my Superb where I get a much larger visual alert and a hard to ignore audible signal. Only ever had 2 speeding tickets in my 70 years and both were for carrying a little too much speed into a 30 limit. * Yes I’ll speak to the dealer but in all fairness I feel I know what the answer will be, ‘ it’s a characteristic sir’………
  3. It's true they aren't ACT engines, the Superb is a 2.0TSI and the Golf a 1.6TDI. Yes, it is.
  4. I find our 2024 model reluctant to go into 7th unless I'm doing 50+mph or so - infact it's very difficult to have it saunter along in any gear at less than 1500 rpm - my Superb and Golf are quite happy to do just that.
  5. You got it sorted then Matey?
  6. That’s the long and short of it - curious thinking / logic by VW’s software writers.
  7. Interesting - it’s hard to imagine a reason why someone thought it necessary to write new software to remove the numbers……
  8. To be clear. - I’m talking downshifts under load - that is such as climbing - changing down from 7 to 6 or 5 to maintain speed, I can’t tell as I don’t get the gear number displayed.
  9. I’m thinking the rushed gearbox software update that caused the hold up might have been exactly that, rushed? Not happy that for all its fancy ‘virtual cockpit’ it doesn’t tell me what gear I’m in….! And the downshifts under load are well harsh - like a learner driver not correctly timing the clutch / power.
  10. Collected mine yesterday - the £200 was mentioned as ‘being in the system’ and there being a ‘note on the file’ - I’ll let it ride for a few days before insisting on some tangible evidence that I have the credit. I’m fairly happy with the purchase, appears to be the latest spec version and as bonus includes Varioflex rear seats. I’ve not been far in it but first impressions are not great, it’s a bit jerky setting off and down changes under load are in your face too, not as smooth/seamless as my 15 year old Golf or indeed our Superb. Also (though yet to investigate further) there’s no gear number indicator, D1 D2 etc., except in ‘manual’ mode, And the speed warning thingy is a bit quirky. It seems to pick up all the changes in speed limits ok, even overhead gantry variables, but only ‘beeps’ if you creep over the limit - entering a lower limit at excess speed doesn’t trigger the audible warning, just the tiny speed rounded on the dash flashes?
  11. Picked my new SEL up today - it too has Miran - I'm not fussed about the wheel style - seems to have some extras I didn't expect, 10" virtual cockpit and wireless charging.........
  12. Go for the smaller one - tight is better - though I’ve seen video of these things being easily overcome.
  13. So, had a phone call this a.m. 'Can I pick up the motor today as Skoda have 'released' the cars?'.......hmmm salesman was unable to confirm that anything had actually been done to my Karoq - all very suspicious - and No I can't just drop everything to collect, I don't care how 'hectic' it is at the dealership, you'll just have to wait.
  14. Lost me with this matey…….
  15. Had a crawl over a showroom L&K 4x4 estate this afternoon - certainly looks nice and desirable but I didn't get the 'must have' feeling.........one negative was the centre armrest, no longer height adjustable and thus too low for me......
  16. I’m pleased for you Yosser65 having got your new car - I’m still getting the gaslight treatment from my dealer - no movement and no predicted resolution date - interestingly my dealer claims it’s only the 1.5 DSG Karoq that’s affected - I’m getting more and more dissatisfied with Skoda / my dealer of late, this latest problem is close to pushing me over the edge, after 3 new motors I’m tempted to tell ‘em the deal is off……
  17. Latest from my dealer is: No resolution yet - gearbox software (not yet ready) needs to be finalised and tested - nothing expected to change until at least 26th June - no rental or loan car to be provided, however a £200 'goodwill' payment towards any rental I arrange myself will be given! Anyone been offered / given anything better?
  18. I feel that Skoda no longer value the ‘brochure’ inasmuch as it seems to be compiled by someone who doesn’t give a **** - apart from the mention above the dots and dashes are all over the place in the options list and don’t get me started on the price of the ‘packs’…….. As for the dealer arranging some sort of swap on the wheels - I know mine wouldn’t - they seem to consider customers as some sort of cross to bear.
  19. I was told my vehicle is at the dealership but can't be registered yet so perhaps there is something in the 'holding back' to level up emissions quotas theory? Either way, I'm well narked having sold my car last week expecting to take delivery - I suspect the problem (whatever it is) has been known longer than Skoda and the dealer are letting on - my car was at the UK dock and allegedly to be transported on the 23rd - then nothing, not even a choice of registration numbers, until the bad news on Thursday afternoon last, the 6th. I've not called the dealer today, my wife won't let me, bad for my well being she says!
  20. Can't decide if the car is at fault or some interference is playing a part - either way it's very random. Occasionally my sat nav decides not to play fair - I'll set off and the location flag will not be quite right, maybe a few hundred yards out but that will gradually get worse as I drive. Some times it can be 100 miles out. It's very frustrating because the speed limit warning appears to take some of the wrong sat nav info and sets off the bongs - once the camera picks up a speed roundel it settles down for a while, however, when the phantom sat nav location passes into a lower limit the bong goes off again. Often it will get its act together within 10 minutes or so, but it can take over an hour / 60 miles or so. Now here's the strange thing, Apple Car Play such as Waze - Google maps etc are wrong too. Anyone else get this?
  21. I can’t imagine they did - my dealer is following the party line and making all the right sympathetic noises whilst giving nothing away - currently distracting me with some mealy mouthed words about trying to ‘sort something out’ on account of me selling my existing vehicle to WBAC early last week to coincide with the new delivery. Given my recent protracted new battery warranty claim and now this, Skoda must have the dealers on tight leash?
  22. Well it must be ‘cause that 2nd screen is what I have all the time……. It I’ve no clear idea how to set it - I think it’s in the menu ‘vehicle’ settings page.
  23. I’ve never been able to coax my 2021 280 into ‘coasting’ mode no matter what settings I use - not that I want or need it - just curious.
  24. See thread below - 3 Karoq.
