  1. 1. Yes. 2. Not easy, if it were easy any idiot could do it! However you can make it easier by using a hot air gun to warm the pipes before removing or refitting them.
  2. The valves are bent otherwise it would start and run roughly, it's a brutally expensive job and very few garages will be interested because the head has to come off and be sent away for rework and a new chain kit must be fitted upon reassembly, this means the car will be hanging around for a week or two and in the way while it's a non-runner. Sell it for spares or repair on eBay.
  3. I guessed that as well, it was an attempt at humour, sorry, I won't do it again...
  4. The Asperger's crew will want to know which ones you ordered...
  5. You could have used the 25mm from the metric set instead!
  6. I meant Yorkshire in the bloody-minded stubborn sense rather than the pecuniary parsimony sense. As for Mars, blimey, you'd have to be an idiot to want to live somewhere where there was absolutely NOTHING whatsoever of any interest, like living in the Sahara at night only with no air to breathe!
  7. This is dragging on. Either way, you can't buy one and the car will be fine without it. Chuck it in the bin and move on.
  8. Just to give you something to look at in the rearview mirror? Bargain.
  9. It is indeed a heatshield, your car can probably live without it quite happily if you can bear the loss.
  10. God only knows why anyone would want a twenty year old Satnav! Looks to have been well looked after though.
  11. It doesn't really matter, it will be extremely obvious when you compare the three readings which one is the highest and which is the lowest.
  12. Ok, so the running total to April 2023 is a quarter of a billion, that's about a million tickets at £250 each, not such a big deal really.
  13. I reckon you're looking at £650 for Bilstein pro kit or Koni sport kit, either would be a revelation!
  14. https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/how_much_in_ulez_fines_have_not I wouldn't believe everything you read in the papers, particularly Tory rags trying to whip up antipathy against the Labour London Mayor.
  15. You've got your own government up there, you can moan to them about it! At least there's cheap public transport that works, none of that down here I'm afraid.
  16. Perhaps you mean Birmingham? The charge there is actually only £8 a day, it's £60 if you're a mindless doughnut who can't breath through your nose and who 'forgets' to pay it. Surely you're used to paying tolls on bridges etc? It's £2.50 every time I use the Dartford crossing, if I forget, it's £60, so I don't forget! Pain is a great teacher.
  17. Work out a budget unless we're in ALAP territory!
  18. I know exactly what you want, but you're gonna get what you need; which are facts and the truth; diesel particulates cause Cancer, COPD and kill people in built-up areas, which is why the ULEZ is being extended. You don't have to comply even if you live there, just pay the charge like I do, I have to pay congestion charge as well when I'm up in town but I pass the costs on to my customers. I don't blame the slugs wearing the blue rosettes either, some legislative changes are necessary to protect people from the stupidity of others.
  19. If you're an enthusiastic driver then it's a great excuse to replace the front struts for something much better, I think Bilstein offer good value but I've seen other brands of gas strut for less, KYB for example.
  20. Yes, Harrow is in outer London, it used to be in Middlesex.
  21. Are you from Yorkshire by any chance... You WANT to buy another car even older than your beloved VRS just to avoid a £12.50 charge? You don't need this forum, you need professional help 😅
  22. So just pay the £12.50 for the day if it's only occasional! Jesus.
  23. It's a mistake, a diesel car in the ULEZ must comply with Euro 6 emissions regs. In practice this basically means a DPF and AdBlue, with petrol this falls to Euro 4 which allows 1.4 16V mark 1's to comply. Why on earth would you need a diesel car in town, you're not doing any mileage? Also, the clean air targets are set by the Tory central government and the only way to comply is by extending the ULEZ zone, so it's not voluntary, it's mandatory, and your local candidate can't do anything about it apart from lie to you to try and pick up your vote!
  24. Knock yourself out, it'll be ear splitting but be my guest, you're building a magnet for policemen rather than a tuned car.
