  1. Lovely looker. If there’s one thing a 280 Superb does well it’s a sleeper look. Budget is the restraint - obviously you can spend big money but looking at addressing power, handling, stopping and gearbox you’ll have to compromise. One thing I was wondering about was that you could save money getting a plug-in box rather than a full remap. Racechip for example is about £600 but they have sales in knocking off a fair bit sometimes. A plug-in tends to tune less aspects than a full remap but still seems to get decent results. The TVS gearbox remap is meant to be the best there is. Brakes there are decent options sticking with the same size - Mtec discs are holding up well on mine and ATE ceramic pads are good for low dust. Plenty of other options for decent performing pads though. Suspension - there is a mod you can do to improve the DCC without purchasing anything. Although comfort is great for soaking up a rough surface, undulations that move the weight of the car have you bouncing up and down. I prefer speed humps on sport mode as you don’t endlessly bounce down the road.
  2. No problem. So the entire unit is an enclosed airbox that replaces the existing airbox and the ducting at the front of the engine bay. The original ducting blocks the air coming through the right side (looking at the car from the front) of the grill which is clearly the best route for induction airflow. Instead the OE design feeds air from the left side of the grill, across the front of the car and into the airbox, so it is made to take two 90-degree turns before feeding into the original airbox, causing turbulence. The replacement uses both sides of the grill is far smoother and cooler as a result. The R600 is a very popular unit CFD-designed and made by Racingline (formerly part of VWUK Motorsport) to replace the ducting at the front and incorporate a filter that is effectively double the size. I wouldn't want a 200k km paper filter having seen what they look like after a 1/10th of that. Fairly certain they don't flow sufficient for the remapped performance, and the twin filteration system I have (cotton filter with foam oversock) means I can easily clean or replace the oversock). The noise is minimal, a little more at WOT at low revs but aside from that its very subtle. Blue hose compliments the airflow along with turbo inlet pipe. It was on sale, I'm not fussed about colour with the bonnet down. Haven't needed to change the turbo or intercooler, the stock engine gives very noticeable gains, as all the hardware is already shared with sister vehicles such as the Golf Mk8 R, Passat R, Audi S3. The intercooler would be the next thing, but the return on investment is far lower and it looks to be removing the front bumper to replace so its not a job I have the time or inclination to do on my own.
  3. Did you overlook the previous picture too?
  4. Oh, sorry, you mean Hot Air Induction? Have you seen the picture a few posts before with the lid on? I had the whole unit out to put on the replacement water pipe and took this latest photo before I put the lid back on - just as it gave a bit of context to the size/surface area compared to the original. As far as I know the R600 doesn’t have any issues with high intake temps but happy to be corrected.
  5. Hot? How do you mean?
  6. Next little update on mine. Racingline dogbone mounts ordered and at the same time the R600 water pipe. Engine still isn’t cleaned properly but thought this was good indicator of the size of the filter; as well as the neatness of the replacement pipe.
  7. Was it bad weather? Mine stops working when it’s raining hard or there is a lot of road spray
  8. Do any of the items not work or do you have a light on the dashboard? I do have error codes when I scan for VCDS; most of them say they have since been tested and cleared since the code - in other words, something happens outside of tolerance briefly but it goes back to behaving again. The code is logged but the problem isn't permanent. I'd say if you don't have any errors, these all say intermittent; so on that basis. Nothing to worry about. If there is a light on the dashboard, then these do seem related parts and it may be something to look into further.
  9. Apple website says this: "Make sure that Siri is on. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted." Not sure why Siri is needed; the restriction is under: Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is turned on, tap Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is enabled. You've probably seen this and tried it but thought its less obvious so worth suggesting. There is a rumour about Software 0332 around but its not on mibsolution so no access to it. Hopefully VAG are aware and looking into it.
  10. I looked the other day - if it is, its new. Has a modified date of just after midnight so looks like its new.
  11. Rest of the World - I’d overlooked that. I agree it’s not there. And have looked on mibhelper.com too which doesn’t have it listed either. In which case, I’m not sure what other sources there are.
  12. In for a penny…I’ll let you know how it goes with both. Ordered.
  13. Missed this - so you’re downloading the maps onto a USB but they’re not uploading to the car? It’s a lot of data so people do reports a few hours-worth of driving around for the maps to update. How long have you given it?
  14. See my post on 12th December - has a link to it and some basic instructions to find it in the folder tree. Let us know if you have any problems.
  15. The Racingline instructions and a Youtube how-to video on the 034 equivalent both have the dogbone itself removed so that the upper part can be fitted. Two bolts at the front, slide the dogbone out, insert the upper mount, slide the dogbone back in (effectively through the hole in the upper mount), then fit the lower mount. @JR RS did you fit the lower one only?
  16. Hybrid. That can be annoying to find parts potentially. Yeah that sounds odd. Guessing its a "worse things happen at sea" moment but at the same time, I can't see that being by design. Do you know what software version you have? (admittedly its a stab in the dark whether this would be relevant but worth checking)
  17. Early models retained the mode, later models reverted. I thought it was a facelift thing in 2020/21 but given george_d's mentioning 2019 then it must have been earlier than that. Either way, you're saying the car tells you its in a specific mode, but it isn't?
  18. Great, was hoping it was a revision thing and not a FWD/AWD thing; yours is FWD so looks to be a revision thing and mine will be v2 on that basis. Good to know it has the desired effect too; Cheers all round!
  19. Seeing as I clearly have a thing for RacingLine at the mo, I’m looking at their dogbone mount. Had an APR one on my old S4 and def felt the difference. Question is, they quote two different parts depending on which is the standard part-fitted. Is there a way I can find out or is it a case of crawling under the car to have a look? https://www.racingline.com/_files/ugd/653f35_0fd77278a5904125bac16e39bc53dd36.pdf
  20. I bought a Forge intake hose for my 280 Gen4 and the design wasn't quite perfect - it doesn't sit on the turbo intake pipe quite straight so not overly impressed with it. As high as Forge's reputation is, personally I think Racing Line will just have better experience of the engine and would consider if they have an option there too.
  21. Had wondered recently - good to know still going strong and fingers crossed for the house purchase. @JR RS is going to give you a run for your money on the modification front
  22. Also just spotted this topic update from a week or so ago: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/497438-has-my-infotainment-broken-or-just-been-reset/#findComment-5909929 Have a look at the last reply
  23. Do you know what Software version you have? Worth trying to download and update through the SD card otherwise? I think you can get some updates wirelessly but I think all the Software updates are physically done...
  24. Might (or might not) be the first of a series of gremlins on the horizon. 8 years is a good innings though.
