Sinus/Ear Problems
@AnnoyingPentium Gerry is correct about future issues with overuse of nasal spray. I speak from experience with Otrivine at least. I do read instructions and especially with medicines but I guess I missed the one line that said do not use for more than 7 days. After using it for 10 days (iirc) my throat started feeling unusual and this was the only unusual thing that I was using, so i re-read the instructions and then I saw the 7 day bit. I stopped using it immediately. I have had throat problems ever since. The doctor (in the days when you could get to see one) prescribed me Avamy's, for my congestion and said that Otrivine was evil stuff. I too have been to ENT without any solution and even had a Bronchoscopy as I mentioned that I had trouble swallowing food without washing it down with a drink., but when I asked them to look for anything unusual with my throat on the way down, they said that they 'don't do throats. They were not very helpful at all. (this was all waaaay pre covid)

Seat belt chime
Not the case on my 55 plate......... Not sure about slightly newer cars though.

Heater fan and foot vents.
Firstly, my heater fan works reasonably as you would expect from a car with a diesel engine. Although once you switch it to position 4 (iirc) it gets considerably noisier and much more vibration. (to a point where I do not use it this high) Any suggestions or reasonably simple solutions, things to look at. Also, if I block up the passenger foot-well vents, would this give more output to the other vents, or do the flaps / assembly not work this way. Cheers.

Lane assist is dangerous
I appreciate the much better explanation......... I agree with you there, either give folk the room to move out if necessary for them to do so or at least move to where they can see you more easily. Cheers.

Lane assist is dangerous
I too hate people sitting in my (so called) blind spot......... I like to have an emergency space to manoeuvre into just in case......... but I do not think them a danger to me. But do you really (in all sincerity) believe that the other drivers are causing a danger because they are driving in your 'blind spot'........ You cannot expect them to know you only have vision in one eye (assuming you are serious about this). I think all of these drivers would consider your disability to be the danger, If anything is........ Not at all a personal attack JR, purely an observation from another's point of view. You do sound to take good precautions whilst driving. Not sure if you have done so, or what you drive, but I would put up extra mirrors inside my vehicle if I only had one eye and was allowed to drive...... So that 'blind spots' were perhaps not so much of a problem.

And many more applying just the last one............. Causing serious accidents sometimes.

E-bike
@olduns Lovely bike...... so jealous, Lol. Still seeing how much I can scrape together as would love one with full suss as I am used to this with my Scott Spark. I always run my tyres well inflated. You can get away with it more on a full suss IMO. I run my road tyres fully inflated though too to be fair. Rides better I think. Maybe turn off the assistance when you hit the tight turns................ just a thought. Bet you loved that ride???

Garage recommendation for 4 wheel alignment. Weston-Super-Mare area
Do you use a garage that you trust??? If so (and obviously they don't do it or you would take it there) asking them for their recommendations might be a good idea.

How am I supposed to get any sleep now Mac??? I'll be racking my brain wondering what you got,.......... Instead of counting sheep I'll be counting bikes, Lol.

E-bike
I always thought of dropper posts being for serious off road-ing where you have to hang your bum over the back wheel as you descend, or your belly or even chest is on the seat. Never thought of the benefit when getting the bike in the car........good one.

Thinking about the lockout Mac, remembering the last time I serviced mine, it is only a kind of stop tap similar to a 1/4 turn ceramic tap valve, which either allows the fluid (oil) to flow, or not flow if locked out, so possibly only a seal. There will be online tutorials........... How handy are you??? You don't want to be thinking about swapping forks (imo) and whilst Fox forks are generally very good and possibly perform better than Rock Shox, it is believed that they require more regular servicing and that they are not as rugged as R.S.

@mac11irlfood for thought bud.............. I ain't read it just yet. https://www.reddit.com/r/MTB/comments/epyec0/fork_lockout_not_working_should_i_be_worried/

Not trying to put a damper on it Mac, but I would be concerned and want to know why both the dropper and (especially) the forks lockout had stopped working. Especially on a not very old bike.................. Be the usual questions I'd be asking, ie has the seller had the bike from new??? And I would want to know about the forks mainly that it is all working properly , bar the lockout, obv's...... It is possible that both items could be a simple fix for a handy person but for me it would largely depend if the seller owned it from new. A new seat post is easily fitted. I always think that around 50% of the initial cost is a decent offer / asking price for a second hand good condition bike. You don't want to be needing to replace the forks .

Octavia 1.0 ETEC DSG v Octavia 2.0 diesel dsg 2021
Yes, if a number of short runs are done in the vehicle then I would think the etec be the better and more sensible choice IMO.

Few niggles
I first read that as 'You need to continually test the wires to check this'............. I thought 'that will be an ongoing job then', Lol.

Air Con Compressor
Wondering who told you it needed a new compressor then....... was it K F ??????? Mine has never worked but without knowing what to do or where to start, doing it myself, I guessed it will probably run into the thousands to pay a garage to sort it, what with the compressor, condenser, evaporator and dryer. I'm assuming JR's info is correct so excellent information to pass on hopefully saving members from wasting money unnecessarily. Good luck with the more specialized place, though I fear it will still cost a lot.

Remote fob stopped working.......
Yes, we've obviously tried to sync it ourselves using online recommendations. Cheers

Remote fob stopped working.......
It's mates car at work. 09 Audi A3 2.0TDi (iirc) SLine. His fob was working properly including operating the windows etc. Seems it suddenly stopped working (he does carry lots of keys in his pocket) .............. he has replaced the battery but it still doesn't work. What is confusing is that it doesn't do anything if the key is placed in the door lock to operate it. He does have an auto electrician friend that has convinced him it just needs syncing whereas I thought it may be a (or The) convenience control module. I think his friend is to look at it next week. Any thoughts.

E-bike
If you use them correctly then these are brill. So easy to use. https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-self-seal-repair-patches/p/0258276 And IIRC I've had maybe five or so of these on one tube at one point, and the tyre stayed inflated for ages. At the time I didn't have a replacement tube. And they got me home when one valve partially split from the tube one day, with four of these used to patch the split. Dodgy tubes off ebay though so maybe serve me right some may say. They weren't cheapo tubes though to be fair.

Yes, I don't know why I thought they might be cable..... @mac11irl Hydraulic brakes are excellent......... but the rear can be difficult to bleed due to longer tube.

WiFi (MiFi) keep losing connection.......
Well blow me................... (no, not literally, Lol) There was me thinking my Windows 10 laptop was finally fully up to date but over the weekend it has had yet another Windows 10 Feature Update....... to 21H1 this time. Oh, and HP has decided to update the BIOS. It did this automatically. Never had this with my HP Pavilion Windows XP or my Asus X53E Windows 7. Luckily the Feature Update completed (at home) this time although it still took me about three goes....... And the BIOS update seems fine. (blummin hope so anyway).

Yes, agree with olduns about not being too hung up about the brakes manufacturer. I'm sure it's Tektro on my road bike, still pretty good and considering they are cantilever rim brakes. I'm assuming the ones you are looking at are cabled disc brakes . Looks like remote lockout (RL) on the giant??? which I like. I removed the rear lockout on mine and adapted it to work on the forks. Unusual preference I think but works better for me.

help finding a new bike
@mac11irl I started off road riding in my teens, anything from regular 40 mile round trips to Matlock Bath almost every Saturday with a mate, and riding to the Duke of Devonshire (iirc) in Belper (around 10 miles) where you would be served a pint by the scantily clad Sunday Sport girls, to touring Devon's northern coastline and riding Ilkeston to Skegness for Cancer Research, 91 miles in just over 4 hours. Then onto MTBing with some of the most exhilarating and quite scary at times, for a number of years.... Sort of come full circle now as I'm loving the speed on the road bike at the moment. Could do with suspension on it though what with all the pot holes, Lol.

I do think there will be a load of bikes go up for sale once people start getting settled back into full time work. They find they don't have the time to ride...... or the energy, Lol. It may take them time to advertise them but I think likely an influx of (barely) used bikes in the next year or two.
