How to detect crash damage
Two points:- 1.Dealers are allowed to repair up to three panels that have been damaged on a car in transit from factory to dealership, without any obligation to inform the customer.. 2. HPI checks are useless, pay for a Vcheck & you'll know everything from taxi, salvage, insurance, etc... Vehicle History Check | Salvage History | Ex-Taxi Search (vcheck.uk)

Battery maintainer/charger/support unit/LiON jump starter when coding with VCDS
I'm at the other end of the UK....& +5C is warm.... I think this is mine 5m long they do other lengths....I use many of their products in my computer builds...quite good! 5m USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable - M/F - USB 2.0 Cables | United Kingdom (startech.com)

Battery maintainer/charger/support unit/LiON jump starter when coding with VCDS
I have a nice garage for starters...For at least the past 10yrs I place the laptop on the bench in front of the car, wind the passenger window all the way down...then run a USB powered Startech extension cable between the VCDS cable & the laptop passing it through the open passenger window. I also plug the laptop in the mains & I place the car on my Cteck charger & set it to "12v supply".....no problems....

What3words app
Also most GSM phones can make 999/112/911 calls without a SIM card or wi-fi connection its part of the 112/GSM protocol/agreement...& I climb in many places in the UK where you have very little if any mobile phone signal...so if you have to then walk a few miles to get a signal how the hell do you know where the original accident scene is if relying on this app as many phones use A-GPS...(assisted via the mobile phone signal). Still can't beat traditional map reading/compass skills, & a standalone GPS...I mean they are only £75 for a basic Garmin etex10 Garmin eTrex® 10 GPS | Blacks ^^^^^^...WTF!!!......I thought their fancy software was designed to avoid that & similar combinations would place you on the other side of the globe, so it would be obvious which of the similar combinations would be the correct one.... Just proves its a marketing exercise...

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
I few other items:- (I know different car but the info is relevant as a base.) I see somebody managed to upgrade their brakes form 288mm to 312mm...did you check the piston size stamped on the caliper??...if it said 55 for 55mm then its not ideal as the 312mm discs have a 57mm piston in the same caliper housing...my car was fitted with 288mm discs & 57mm pistons & swapping the caliper carriers & bigger discs was all that was required for a factory fit 312mm conversion:- How to retro-fit the 312mm front brakes to a Mk7 Golf | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum Also the electronic wastegate actuators for the EA211 engine tend to seize at the actuator rod pivot...just grease it using the correct stuff..no need to buy a new turbo! (this may be important for those who swap to the 140/150PS turbo). Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
I really ought to write up all the info I have collected on tuning the EA211 engines since 2014...as I was looking at getting my 1.4lt 140PS mapped from brand new back in 2014. Having read the thread I want to put some correct info:- The EA211 1.4lts are all mapped for 95RON, & will accept 91RON in an emergency...which means the fuelling is NOT ideal for the UK as I've never seen 91RON over here. This is why even a simple stage one 95RON remap (which alters timing) makes such a difference.. However all the EA211 engines 1.2lts are mapped only for 95RON:- Somebody posted up the section from the ERWIM self study guide on the differences between the turbos used on the EA211 engines. Here are some of the other relevant differences:- The 1.4lt 140PS & 150PS have forged crankshafts

Which oil for a 2013 petrol Octavia 1.4 TSI 103KW?
I have Fuchs gear oil currently...& Castrol engine oil as that's what they used at the factory & spec'd for the engine at build, & the reason for 502 00 is that I service my car every year & I don't do more than 10,000miles/yr... I like the extra range of 0w40....the car is tuned & leaving it to get frozen in -10C & colder in the cairngorms or other colder places such as Glenshee or the west coast is what it has to cope with....

Which oil for a 2013 petrol Octavia 1.4 TSI 103KW?
Those engines will be fixed service to 502 00 spec or flexible service to 504 00 spec.. Don't go by "w" rating as that can be different but still meet the respective VAG 502 00 or 504 00 spec... I use top end oils..Castrol Titanium, or Mobil 1 or Fuchs...& because I'm in a cold place, but the engine is tuned I currently use Castol Edge Titanium FST 0w40 (A3/B4)..which is to VAG 502 00 spec..

Door open Warning lights
So the car has factory incandescent door exit lights.....you have retro-fitted LED units which don't work 100%.. LEDs are directional i.e. they require + & - to be a certain way around..unlike the incandescent factory bulbs...so swap the wires around. Also LEDs draw very little power & the door controller has to shut the power off internally.....You might have to place a resistor across the + & - of the LED in increase the resistance that the BCM "sees"...

Door open Warning lights
Have you tried reversing the wires from the loom into the connector for the LED lights?? The VCDS coding on the MQB platform MK7 Golf was:- Now for VCDS:- Plug in VCDS to re-code both the drivers & passenger door control modules as follows:- · Select Control Module [Select] · [42-Door Elec, Driver] & [52-Door Elec, Pass] will need coding separately. · [Coding -07], · [Long Coding], · [Long Coding Helper], · Byte1, · Bit2, tick the box marked “Door exit/warning light installed”. If the lights do not work, remove the light unit from the door card, unplug the connector & rotate it 180deg & re-insert it. It should now work!

Door open Warning lights
Front door LEDs for the exit warning lamps:- MQB platform door controller of which there are several versions...the higher the spec the car , usually the higher spec door controller is fitted..in this case there is a pin out for the "door exit warning lamp" as this is what the MK7 & mk7.5 Golf GTI/R use for the illuminated door sills. This controller with the pin unused is fitted to the GT/R-Line etc trim specs......There is also coding of the BCM which is required. I did a how to guide on this way back in October 2015 here:- How to retro-fit the door exit warning lights from the VW Passat (2013->) | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum LEDs are directional, so you can plug them in & they don't work, so reverse the wires first to double check... Also the rear doors in VW & I think Seat & Skoda do not have dorr controllers as they "piggy-back" of the front door controllers.......Audi on the other hand have individual rear door controllers so its very easy to add exit door warning lights on those..

Engine undertray
There are several types... Thin plastic half trays...very cheap Thin plastic full trays (fitted to diesel cars as its called "noise insulation"), cheap Skid trays, in the case of the MQB platform its a Kevlar reinforced GRP tray...usually fitted to the 4x4 alltracks/scouts ..but I've seen some without them (tray is an expensive £100+ part)

Octavia MK3 1.4 TSI Remap
The VAG ERWIN repair manuals for the EA211 engines state it. It may also explain why the base "95RON" stage 1 remap offered by tuners gets a nice hike without increasing the turbo boost by much as the timing gets altered correctly to remove the capability (reduced) of running on 91RON.

Octavia MK3 1.4 TSI Remap
Whatever Shell say their V-power is as thats all I have used in my cars since 2002.... The car on the stock map can make use of the better fuel to a very slight extent as the ECU can adapt within the allowed software limits for the 91/95 timing as remember the camshafts are variable on the 1.4lt..(both on the 140/150PS...mainly though its the fact the car always responds better at higher rpm even if the timing is not 100% ideal for the fuel octane. Basically to get the most out of the engine & the petrol, the timing (spark ignition) needs to be started earlier in the compression cycle the higher the octane rating, which is why revo offer 3 different maps for 3 different main fuels....also they increase the fuel pump settings as the factory software strangles it & yet it will cope with higher demand.... Lastly they increase the turbo boost, by not operating the electronic wastegate/rc valve as much... Most tuners only do the last bit & crank up the turbo boost pressure which is useless when the fuel pump & timing are not ideal.. My old 1.4lt AUB Fabia had 98/95RON on the flap & was factory tuned for super unleaded 98RON..& would take 95RON in an emergency, but with reduced power output. The EA211 1.4lt is 95/91 RON tunned....my revo map is 98/95RON...just like the Golf R & CCS & others.. APR for the 1.4lt 140/150PS only map for 95RON & do a high & low torque map offer...nothing for 98RON... For the 122/125PS they offer maps for 95RON or 98RON.... Thats another reason to go revo..

Standard radio changing
Yes it will...might need an adaptor harness to convert the stereo to the DIN connector block..but these are easy to find...also disconnect the grey wire from the loom & tape as its the OBD11 diagnostic cable which only works with the OEM stereo..You might also need to swap over the live & switch 12V wires on the stereo side... All easy..did it to my old Fabia years ago... Heres a thread on the wiring pin outs....first post has all the details..I did this a few years back! Standard radio changing
The standard radio is a single DIN size....with either a cubby or drawer under it taking up the slot to make it a double DIN. However there is a trim space above top slot which is covered by the factory radio & this will now be exposed if you fit an aftermarket radio single or double DIN.. Octavia MK3 1.4 TSI Remap
I have the 1.4lt 140PS version on a manual gearbox & had the revo stage 1-B remap which is for 98RON/99RON fuel...it will run on 95RON as an emergency as required.. The Bosch maps for these engines are 95RON with 91RON as an emergency...& we don't get 91RON, so basically the timing is NOT ideal for the UK! They quote circa 190BHP & 312Nm....but its a way better curve & the car can tricky along at 800rpm no problems in a all gears & pick up....before it would virtually stall...plus the electronic wastegate is operating less so its quieter above 3000rpm... Car should have been like this from the factory. P.S. with the latest rules on E10 fuel, which requires the "main" unleaded to be 10% bio...super unleaded isn't required to be ..& remains E5 (5%) bio...

1.0 or 1.4 Petrol
Depends how she drives & if she likes to carry loads of stuff in the car... I have the 140PS 1.4lt...in the Mk7 Golf estate with Multilink rear suspension....basically its a hoot...I added loads of underbody aero & see a calibrated 44mpg easy..& sometimes 52mpg on a long trip...mind you I have a heavy-ish right foot & the car is stage "1-B" revo tuned... I've driven a 1lt Mk7 Golf & thought the power, or lack of for the size of the car wasn't right...like I said its a personal choice...

Skoda dealer north Highlands
Hawco have taken on the servicing & parts for Skoda.... not to worry ..I've known Hawco's for 26yrs, especially the parts dept..& they are quite good to say the least! You may find that some of the staff (mechanics) are from the old Delmore cars!!.
