nephew was pulled out of the 630am start by swmbo.. to be fair he hasnt been up before 9 and not sleeping properly for a couple of months, so maybe going straight into a 8k run at 630am may have been a bit of a push he has promised to go for a run himself later on after doing some work on the project. so i went pedalling my typical route, but twisted a through the trees section to boost myself an extra climb and a bit more distance. the extra climb knocked the avg speed back but an extra km and 50m climbing. it all felt good

perhaps you were aiming ( with your eyes closed) for that bit where the kerb is missing/at footpath level? and missed it..

well, the one for sale was a large, so a bit big. how accurate do we think Wiggle might be with stock expectation?? https://www.wiggle.co.uk/vitus-sentier-27-mountain-bike-2021 brand new is up as €1061, for the entry level sentier 27.

change in offing for tomorrow morning... swmbo's nephew is struggling to write his FYP for uni, lotta stuff goin on atm, so he has been convinced to come down to Nanny's house and do some work 9n it with swmbo helping him put a shape on the structure. he has also agreed to get up and come with me for an early morning blast. no bike, so we're gonna run instead. giving him the choice of hill climb or flat in the morning.

another morning, andother 16.5k cycle on my normal route. sheeps up the top happy with today, little faster than last week in total, but i think i made the time up on the decents rather than the climbs, though,

i know the feeling youre talking about. ive had it while driving, that feeling that you just know something is going to happen, and then you nearly get killed by some kittens. edit - @ColinD love the autocorrect for the word richard head

help finding a new bike
see, if i could get it at that price, it would definitely be worth it... and would leave lots for replacing the fork with a really decent one (assuming i could get one, a fox for example...). but i dont know if id get it that low...

help finding a new bike
yeah, i was reading up a little bit on the lockout failures last night, and people say sometimes it mightnt be actually be a failure as the lockout only acts to stiffen the damping to the max, so there is still some give in it. its possible this might be one of those? equally i could probably cope without the lockout for a while anyway? i just dont really know if i want to drop a wad of cash on something i know is broken...

im also really liking the look of the Canyon Stoic... none of them on the second hand market here (yet anyway...)

help finding a new bike
this is kinda my concern too.... i dont rightly know whats wrong other than what he put in the comments - the lockout isnt working so the fork is always damping and the dropper isnt working either. it could well be very simple on either or both, but yeah... its a 2019 bike with 2 broken ancillary bit already 😬

lockout on the fork doesnt work and the dropper post doesnt work, allen key adjustment.. 1200-1300 new, no idea when i might be able to get one. would it worth it at 600/650? knowing i may have to replace the fork and dropper if i feel like it?

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
so after another 45min spell of dozing on jr's thankfully foam playmat covered floor last night (with a spare cot mattress we put infront of the cot, in case he does manage to take a header over the top, and a plastic tray under it as a "pillow") i dont remember my alarm going off at 615am this morning, waking up instead at 740am.. so i c brought the bike with me to my mechanics dropping the car off to at least get something out of the day... a full 3.5km of pretty level road in 8m54sec. nice enough pace by my standard, just... 14k shorter than id have liked to do today...

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
getting fed up now... foot is still aching if i stand on it for a long time, but the swelling is gone down, and most of the bruising is gone too. i really got lucky but.. spud jr has decided he didnt think i was ready to go back cycling this morning, by waking up for a roarfest 3mins before my alarm was going off.. so that put an end to todays plan. im also now utterly fked for completing the 7500m climb challenge for June, which is annoying as i couldve just about managed it if id not been sidelined for a week.

Central locking button (internal) hardly works
given its position, its probably the switch is full of 14odd yrs of fluff and gunk. take it out, clean it, good dose of contact spray cleanerer and let it dry. try it again.
