  1. up a bit earlier, so time to stretch the legs a bit more today. the climb felt tougher this morning, and i wasnt really sure why.. turnes out its because i was going faster! i even managed to make it up the really loose rocky/grassy bit without needing a dismount for the first time.. made it to the cross in 27m 40 and didnt even stop ploughed on to til the top of the peak behind it, then down into the woods. i exited via a rooty trail without falling off onto a vehicle track then tagged on the backroad hillclimb. hit a new max speed coming back down that bit overall a decent morning out. rest day tomorrow, and see what thursday brings
  2. come back and let us know what youve got instead @JayTea
  3. ffs.... why???? you can cut it open with a stanely knife and roll the deadlock back :(
  4. so i see, youre gone Green
  5. well.... thats my order of preference too 😁
  6. okay.... so ive made a wishlist spreadsheet of my current top 4. the Talon 0 is the cheapest, Shimano gearing but an own brand fork and only one non - shimano brakes. the Canyon 7 and Lapierre are same price, but spec on lapierre has SRAM on the shifters, but Shimano on the gearing? narrower tyres on both. more travel on the Judy Fork, but both models seem about level pegging reviews wise. need to check what the difference is on the brakes. and finally... Roscoe 7... most expensive, fattest tyres if i go 27.5". Judy Fork, Shimano brakes (need to check the difference to the others too) and SRAM gearing the same as the Canyon 7. i also like the shape of this one and the orange colour option is pretty funky. the final step is.. see what my local bike shops have from the above and try them out. then see what the cost becomes. (id like to support my local business if i can, but if its becomes a major markup then ill order direct)
  7. overslept! so late start, and shorter route. hit some pr and 2nd best segment times, so at least i got that out of it. was a good blast though, no jacket needed just a base layer and hivis shirt. must test the stupid hr strap again later. its possible the new battery i put in it was already dying, have that pack of 2032 batts a few yrs...
  8. and for godsake @PFSC dont do this
  9. no need to butcher the door card. it can be removed tactfully and gracefully as can can the lock mech without smashing it deans guide is probably the best one done thus far on getting in there
  10. if it makes you feel any better, both of my recent offs have been at low speed while trying to avoid having an off 🤣
  11. as above if you click on the word freedom it is auto hyperlinked and will bring you to the right part of the forum for informational purposes
  12. distracted by the view, you ended up a hole.....
  13. nice. ive had the dynamic camera in a hired focus estate once. very handy while adjusting to being on the wrong side of the car in italy. swmbo's Arona has the camera but only static guidelines
  14. i do indeed have a shower at my office - given my main office since March last year has been a desk in the spare room at home yeah, its hardtail country alright. and nice fat tyres... when i get as far getting a new one itll be pretty different... descents are a bit butt puckering on normal tyres, no shocks and rim brakes
  15. todays expedition... the forecast lied. rain and mist was to have blown off by around 7. so it shouldve been alright ish. it was just constant heavy drizzle and light rain the whole time. and its still falling. my chest strap decided it couldnt be arsed connecting to the watch today 🙄 so i left it at home. i was also a few mins later leaving (kind of hoping on the rain stopping.) so i had to shorten the route a bit to be back on time for the morning family routine. that and taking the photos in @olduns thread... so it was a 1hr, 14k slog through the ****e and mud. coated in muck when i got home, sweaty and rained on. just an ick kind of day.
  16. okay, so yesterday was a tough but nice 17km route. weather was alright, and i had it in just over an hour. eagle eyed trackers will notice a small change in approach route - the first off road shortcut i have been using is getting really overgrown now, and the Jap Knotweed is encroaching on the barely 2 ft wide trail, so rather than risk bringing that crap home on my tyres, i went around to the "main" side approach. I also had my chest strap on, so was able to see how thing are while on this trek. it hit a max of 198, ironically while cycling the flat section on the way to the first climb. then it dropped off to a consistent 160-170 the whole way up the ascents. it dropped down to around 150 on the road section to get home at the end. pic taken about a min after i got home pleased with that. oh the sheep asked me to say "mmmbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaa" to everyone for them.
  17. part of my ascent track. more of the ascent how smooth... just lovely . descent to the woodland (cant see it in the mist..) cant see the piinty rocks sticking out of the ground ... most of the foresty trails are like this but the vehicle tracks are like this.. its a fairly mixed bag tbf...
  18. this could explain some of them vanishing then. imported ex uk cars have always been a nice way to get better spec second hand cheaper than ROI reg car.
  19. if a vehicle is exported to the ROI does it vanish off the dvla?
  20. it can go horribly wrong too.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_2010_R238_traffic_collision
  21. god i wish my morning route here was as smoothly gravelled as that ill try and take some pics tomorrow...
  22. ak-choo-ally... *pushes up intellectual spectacles* ...research has shown that tinfoil hats can increase the concentration of microwave energy gathered so by wearing on you are helping the mind control signals be even more effective....
  23. UPDATE ALERT - something interesting... i found my old heart rate strap to go with my old watch. and it still works up until Jan 2020, i have always had an "above average" resting HR. anytime its checked during my life, all the way back to being like 10, its always hovered around 72-75bpm. but, when i strapped up last night check the strap was still working, i sat down for a couple of mins to let it settle, and get a baseline. since i cut all caffeine at the end of Dec 2019, started running in June 2020 and have continued with the cardio exercise since swapping to the bike when my knee started at me, my resting HR last was 62. genuinely i dont think my resting HR has ever been that low. so, to anyone who wonders about the benefit of exercise, and the possible affects of caffeine on your body.. by dropping one and taking up the other ive reduced my RHR by about 16%... result.
