  1. Hi @Burhan you need to drop the sump and check the oil pick up pipe strainer, which may be blocked. if it dumped a load of oil out its proabaly pulled a load of gunk and crap out of the bottom of the sump. as to why the dipstick is dry after 4litres going in.. i really cant say. @Wino may have insight on the routing the stick takes which may also have been damaged?
  2. nowt done yesterday or today. foot isnt sore now but still puffy and bruised. that and im up since 515am with Jr. roll on maybe tomorrow, see how the foot is looking 🙄
  3. so i went out today to make up for the missed trip during the week. decided to go East from the cross today, and tackle Long Hill again. nice weather, sweaty though... not used to pedalling in actual heat! and i also pedalled up a lot more of it than on previous bits, had to push up one section thats just too steep and too much loose gravel and rock. and i now have the 6th fastest time on the segment from the valley floor between the cross and long holl to the top of long hill nice view from the top too. i went back across the top and over to the cross and dwon home this time.. wasnt getting misplaced in sheep fields, forestry blocks and people's gardens again... and i learned something else from it too.. if you look at my recent routes, through the woods and adding the back road hill climb my elevation is around 440-445m over 16/17km. up and down long hill today was also 440-445m but only 13.2km in the same (roughly) time period.
  4. if you reeeeeally needed to, i bet you could stitch it 😉
  5. forfot to restart when i stopped at the tippy top for some water and to put my gloves on before the descent to the woods (they be hand protectors now the weathers improved in case i hit the ground). so i know it took me 62mins in total on my new usual route of 16.5km. annoying more so as it means im missing about 145m of climb towards the june 7500m challenge, goddamit. out tomorrow morning to balance skipping yesterday as it was an on site day.
  6. bit of gorilla glue and itll be grand....
  7. interesting choice of gif Amanda (i dont recognise what its from)
  8. well spud jr had the decency to have his little cry at 2330 last night.. i didnt get to sleep until about 0030 though.. so that 0610 alarm was a horrible sound. and then the more horrible sound rain on the windows....there was no rain forecast for today going to bed last night, just cloudy. but the radar track had it blowing off fairly soon so i went anyway. wish i hadnt put on the rain jacket... it was a disgusting cycle. wet, muggy, sweaty, one of those days where it feels like theres no oxygen in the air. got to the top of the hill and the dead calm became a bloody gale blowing over the crest. 2 bad nights sleep had the body tired, feeling like theres no power in the legs, and the back wheel slipping on all tbe the damp cherry blossom and labernum etc petals on the road and damp stones and grass. good god it was just bleeeehhhhhh. ick
  9. 320am... wailing from up the hall. 405am back into bed and asleep.... 425am ..wailing from up the hall... so much weeing done jr had overwhelmed the "12hrs of freshness" nappy and was soakin. it just hadnt got through to his outer sleep suit the firat time i went in 🤦‍♂️ everything changed, a bottle and eventually i got back to bed at 530am. i couldnt feel my face when the alarm went off at 610, so i rolled over asleep again.
  10. nice ride out this morning, went the slightly shorter but extra climb road on the way home. and.... im mot sure how this is the first time ive done segment considering its the same route ive taken for the last couple of weeks, and there are 2 shorter segment bits in it that log every time. maybe if you "stop" for too long on it it doesnt count? anyway, out of 16 people whove done it, im the 5th fastest 8mins slower than the leader! but considering how long im only doing this, and the state of me bike im quite happy
  11. and the above tale are exctly why i shall never be putting clips on my pedals... i like to be able to escape quickly if things go sideways...
  12. no idea. seems common on a few of them. ive sent a notify me request for a medium in august when they are available (fingers crossed)
  13. its just about patience, and using 2 narrow torx/allen keys one to rotate the big cog, one to prevent spring back.
  14. all good this morning, no punctures or falls... though i did take a small detour/route change in the woods that started alright but then became a very very roots, stumps and jumps technical route that i had to walk the bike down some of.. no way could i tackle it full on with no suspension and never being on before. took me 2m50 to get across it. according the segment data the fastest time on it is.. 0m50 i have some catching up to do nice spin ot, and set a few new PR times too. legs are fairly hammered now though
  15. https://www.canyon.com/en-ie/mountain-bikes/trail-bikes/stoic/stoic-3/2660.html?dwvar_2660_pv_rahmenfarbe=GY#all-components-section-tab just having another browse... the above is available for order from August, on budget, and component list looks good, inc threaded bottom bracket. and according to the blutb and better downhill bike than the Grandcanyon i was looking at on my short list..
  16. i love the vintage saddles on the bikes George i shall keep this in mind, gonna ring around a few other listed dealers for my short listed bikes and see what falls out. one i tried today only answers 930-1230 and the other was engaged 3 times i rang!
  17. well new tube in, brake pads adjusted while was at it. and i managed to bodge a screw on pump pipe onto my clamp type big pump. need to buy an electric pump or a small compressor...
  18. id still have to get at least as far as cairnryan for a pick up... thats a long way for a bike 🤪
  19. well, if i want to support my local indy bike shop i cant get the Roscoe, they dont stock Trek. and if i wanted the Talon, id have to order a 2022 model now and hope it arrives in the next 6 months - 40 Talon 1 & 2 arrived last week, some ordered in October last year! im "looking at a really ****ty time to be honest" apparently. they stock Orbea too, but i havnt looked at their spec etc, have a feeling it might be outside my budget anyway... i shall ring the other one (franchised bike shop) and see what they say.
  20. i did chance it for about 100yds, but i was just gonna wreck the rim. so hot footin was the only answer. pulled the tube out earlier and broke the clamp on my pump when i was inflating it to find the hole... its really being one of those days 🙄 anyway, will go get a tube later on and ask my local indy bike shop about the roscoe 7 in terms of getting one. not sure he does Trek, definitely does Giant though, but.. id have to spec one up i think as a custom.
  21. i shouldve stayed in bed today... after a crap night's sleep, leaving a little late, it took me 30mins to get to the first waypoint, slowest time in weeks. not helped by the rear brake pad dragging a bit after i adjusted them yesterday evening. werent rubbing then, but as soon as i pulled them once this morning i could feel it pulling back. then after 4.5k of uphill pulling, i reached the peak, and dropped down the other side to the woods... felt a bit wayward at the very bottom.. ffffffffuuuuuuuuu........ queue a jog of shame to rival @olduns last week... nearly 5k of shortcuts through the woods and through the town alongside the bike.. first time doin a biathlon on the plus side, i had no knee pain which eas what stopped the running in january edit.. strava detail. puncture was discovered around the 90deg West->Nth turn at the bottom of the map. kept an alright jogging pace from the 5k point home...
  22. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
  23. hello, and welcome to the forum @CarolineD i have no experience of the carrier in question, but did you check the diameter of the carrier socket is compatible with the diameter of your towbar ball hitch? it getti g half down and then stopping sounds like the carrier socket is to small for your ball hitch
  24. @Tilt the mt200 and mt400 are hydraulic. so are the Tektro ones.
  25. the BB wasnt really on my radar tbh! so thats probably a more important issue than the brakes potentially, if its gonna be way harder change if needed
