  1. when you say your airbag doesnt work, is it that the light stays illuminated?
  2. i have a little hessian bag full of cat litter in my car all the the time. lob it on the dash at night and it makes a huge difference.
  3. if its running that long before stopping then its heat related. swap the fuse for a known good one and see what happens
  4. ahhh a decent night sleep. alarm went off i didnt want to get up but i did. legs were heavy heavy heavy so the time wasnt great but... 10km. the last km climb is tough :(
  5. its an iso harness with a bt module then? link to where you got it would be handy for others
  6. so spud jr wokeat 4am Tuesday and didnt go back to sleep until 7am.. so no run was had. got ti bed and sleep at about 2330.. god i was tired. ge woke at 3am!!! i got back to bed again at 415am and alarm went off at 625. i felt sick... but i dragged myself out and despute the promise of heavy rain and yellow wind alert i did an 8k in a leisurely 42mins. couldve pushed to 10, but the weather was horrible and i was knackered. still am. but at least i got up and out, skipping 2 in a row wouldve been worse. hopefully tonight/morning will be better and ill get a 10 done, same friday before my procedure Friday afternoon.. hopefully be runable again on monday to complete next weeks stint of 4x4 dec strava challenge
  7. how is that in any way remotely relevant???
  8. okay, i thought from the title this was going to be about some dodgy back street garage defrauding people by claiming to do work that isnt done, or some such thing. i still dont see what the warning is? if someone cant by internet magic instantly diagnose an issue from a description like "its making a strange noise when i do 'x' " are you going to come to their house and slash their tyres?? thats seems abit extreme. cars are complex. an issue can give a symptom that isnt easily related to the cause. eg my front window wipers wouldnt turn off on my old mk1 octy because of water ingress in the rear wash motor. the rear wiper and wash worked perfectly.... and the front end was fine on its own, but with both fuses in the back was grand and the front wouldnt stop. is that a directly related issue? nope. so it could take several examinations and tests to track it back to the cause in front the car nevermind over the internet. bit unnecessary to give out to everyone for not being magicians...
  9. fell asleep after the alarm went off, the joy of a bad night's sleep. woke uo 15mins later and headed off. had to chop it at 8k route though to be home again for school prep etc. still nice run, was happy i got out between rain showers too! also, i have 62km of 100 done for the 100km dec challenge:)
  10. when was the thermostat replaced last? given the engine is boiling the coolant, there is something else not right whuch stopping the intercooler from regulating the temperature. it may not be leaking, you may be losing it through the expansion pressure release.
  11. check the carpets and underlay for water ingress. check behind the wheel arches for a build of muck and leaves blocking the scuttle drains as this can fill up with water then gets into the cabin. check your doors- seals and the bottoms of door cards for water. if the door card has water, take it off and reseal the membrane
  12. get a multi meter and start continuity checking the harness. that sounds like theres a break in a couple of wires that are shorting out, probably where the cable goes from the door into the a pillar. check both front doors.
  13. as above. the windows need to be reset after a battery change / running flat. edit- the one touch open/close also wont work until they have been reset. open it all the way down and then all the way up and wait a few seconds
  14. go to the passenger door, open it, lovk the car with fob, hide key, close passenger door. the car will lock if the passenger door is open, it wont if the drivers door is used. i spent 15months locking my insignia with the internal lock button via the passenger door due to an alarm fault... always a triple pat down of pockets to make sure i had my keys before closing the door. ( jeezus that car annoyed me so much so soon after i bought it)
  15. okay, so i headed out on the East bound loop this morning, wasnt sure about the knee, but said id take it handy and gauge how it went. thank god with doing nothing other than stretching it out a bit yesterday it was grand this morning, so when i got around the eastbound 5/6k loop i was happy to head onto the west bound loop planning to make another decision at the turnoff for the 8km route. it was still alright so i kept going... onto the 10k route. at about the 8-9k bit theres a moderately steep climb on which i got a couple of twinges but it was okay. the last km is a constant climb too, but i got on okay. so i successfully completed my second ever 10k run! given the knee it was bit slower than Tuesday, it was also the same route but run the opposite direction so all the climbs and drops are t'other way round. im confident the knee thing is just a minor muscle twinge so fingers crossed its not going to feck up the future plans...
  16. yeah, id get that in me octy. little bit of sizing up time and it just becomes a real world game of tetris its impressive for a yeti given how small the boot area is
  17. if the tension is wrong on either handle pulley the mech wont work. i had the problem when ichanged one of mine. had to restrip the doorcard to get it open again. inside handle wouldnt work because outside Bowden cable end was on the wrong groove. pita!
  18. today was an odd one... i woke a bit late after a bad night sleep; had a load of things to do before dropping spud sr to school and then hoof it 2hrs sth west for a meeting and be back for pick up time. so i wasnt aiming for 10k, was gonba do 7, but decided id do the west loop first to see how long that is. but.... about 1k in and i got an ache in my left knee.... first one ever! quite annoying and i didnt want to do damage, so i culled it after the west loop and as it turns out.. that is a 5k loop. have to blame my school buddy for it though, he started running in November on a couch to 5k as gyms are closed. like me he never ran before, likes his cycling though. and he asked me on Monday after i updated him on my 8k acheivement "do you have much problems with your knees or hamstrings?" as his are aching from it. "nope, nothing yet, its all good" i replied. so he f'ing jynxed me, the ball-cox!
  19. it could be the tension on the outer handle cable has been altered by the breaking.. open the window, pull/push in the outer handle a bit and pull the inner release bar at the same time. it MAY let you in
  20. have you yad it plugged into a diagnostic reader to check for fault codes
  21. @Fastblack what part no is on the one you removed from your car? the electrical connector looks like the standard one to me. but if the part number matches then its correct.
  22. cam chains on petrols has a sticky post at the top of the section. worth a read to to know what to ask any potential seller. diesel vs petrol really comes down to which fuel suits your usage better as to what issues you may end up facing.
  23. thanks @Gaz_ im enjoying the running now which is a sentence i never in all my days thought i would write down im building toward a 50min 10k by new year. if i hit that ill be utterly thrilled
