  1. Nitrogen had nothing to do with the price of fish or the traction / grip of tyres at the correct pressures. Correct pressures being the thing. As to more stable on the rear. Lovely when the drive, steering , braking is coming from the front and ESP from all corners. Lovely to be stable as you try to correct a slide off the road using the ability of the stable rear on a Front Wheel drive vehicle. 'Scandinavian flick' maybe from drivers while trying to remember if the have Over Steer or Under Steer, and do the steer into a skid, and is the ABS providing grip to the front tyres that are less good than the rears. The OP should maybe take the car as now out on a big open car park / space when wet, cold or snow covered and see just how it is and if happy to be taking their nearest and dearest out in it during this season.
  2. @TobyhhWelcome. It is an Auto Electrician you need not the garage you visited. I bet they would like to buy for much cheapness your Yeti that is just fit for scrapping. So the immobiliser is faulty, not the key, and now someone has to deal with what has been done by you or you and the garage
  3. They do not connect to the OBD in the UK @ MOT's. YET. They do in some States in the USA, & the EU spoke about it, and the UK were going along as told. But now free to do as they please. MOT checks are just as they see on that day. 12 or 11 months between MOTs and it is for you to be sure things are safe, or have that done. Amazed that you got Documents at the Last Service, but anyhow it looks like someone maybe never reset or set the INSPECTION to suit your needs if it shows every time & it is an INSPECTION and not a Service Warning.
  4. @mccririckIf they drift across to your side you are on your side. If you are the one drifting, that is what the system is for. If you leave it on then pay attention to what the road markings / lines are, kerb / verge side and centre line or line divider and see when you get that nudge, and pay attention on bends / corners and see when you get a nudge / lane assist action. It will not stop you driving with due care and attention and taking any avoidance. It might show you that you do not want to go for a Driving Test resit. I do not mean that in a nasty way. In my MINI in Edinburgh i miss the gentle lane assist i had in my Corsa Electric or in the other cars i drive. The MINI has a light shows but no NUDGE. I left the Systems on, and will leave them on even when there is Snow, Ploughed roads etc. It showed me just how poor my driving had become, lack of attention sometimes. Occasionally on fast hill roads i do put Lane Keep Assist off where there are patched roads with long lines of tar joining patches.
  5. Sad. Best not guess why they drove into the water, or once in if they could open the doors when in the water, or think of opening the windows while they still could. Does Auto / Anti Hijack Locking and unlocking get engineered to suit someone putting a car deep into water and even if the function is disabled do they test vehicles to see if the passenger or driver can open the doors when the car is in deep water?
  6. It is advised by most that you do not run with miss-matched tyres, but then there are those that say the best / NEW tyres go on the rear. Not something i do my self with FWD cars, or even AWD cars. But then i would not run rubbish tyres on the rear on anything even if not rear wheel drive. The Bridgestone even new are pretty rubbish in the Wet / Cold, Snow or icy conditions are they not?
  7. Is the SAFE because the doors are still locked until yours or the passenger opens one? Usually the question asked here is about the 'Safelock' warning before leaving the car, reminding not to double lock occupants in the car.
  8. First chance to see how quick it clears the windows inside and out with remote pre-heating. I plugged in to charge after doing 42 miles last night when it was quite cold and it took 12 kWh to charge back to full. So that was 3.5 miles to a kWh which was fine given how cold it was and heating / ac on and trying to be sure the interior was pretty dry before the frost. 12 x 21 pence tariff i am on. £2.52 for 42 miles. A car reviewer that knows her stuff. There are many that should learn from her and get facts and not just what a Media Pack tells them and repeat it.
  9. @Trekker3000Is the Cruise Control set there even with the car stopped? Or is it the Speed Limit?
  10. ^^^ This. They will unlock and if someone needs in in an emergency they will break the door glass as can be done with a short sharp tap. Glass breaking hammer. (They really should be in every cars drivers side pocket, that are only a couple of quid.)
  11. @Paws4ThotHave you driven yet a car with Lane Keep Assist? @mccririckIt is not nudging you to remind you that you are wandering out of a marked lane when you are under 40 mph is it? Can you adjust yours for sensitivity and then pay attention to when it lets you know that you are maybe not keeping well in your lane? If you indicate when changing lane. Look, mirror, indicate if safe to change lane there is no nudge. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486388-lane-assist-is-dangerous
  12. @SK2023 Are you checking and topping up the oil as per the Owners Manual and when the engine is at operating temperature and after stopped for a few minutes and sure there is enough oil in like when you collected the car and then after the dealership has topped up the oil. Are you leaving the Oil & Filter Service intervals to Variable, and 24 months / 18,000 - 20,000 miles ? The low miles you do might best have the Servicing on Fixed Service Regimes and 9,400 mile / 12 month intervals.
  13. Welcome. ? What model / trim are you looking at that is 15 mm lower than another model? What size wheels and tyres has it got on it?
  14. The Haldex is still @ 3 years / 30,000 miles. Many know to do sooner than that as preventative maintenance and to have it done properly. Not to be skimped on if you have a car you are keeping. PS You want to check if the Pads are down by 10 or 15% and not down to. Ask them the actual measurements they did. As it is maybe if you need brakes done then not by the Up-sellers you are putting your car into.
  15. @Graham Butcher I was talking Vans / commercials, EV vs Diesel and fuelling cost if the driver needs to get rapid charged at 100 kW chargers and on the go. There are vans that better 30 mpg, but not really if sitting engine running and short drop deliveries.
  16. @Ian1975Be sure you see everything and that Approved Used Warranty & that it is a Skoda one, because 8 years old going on 9 is unusual to be such. See that Workshop Inspection document. They bought it or took the trade in so they wanted to know the history. A Full Main Dealer Service History does not mean much, just a History. What matter is what was actually done.
  17. @wyx087Was it actually his own bought and paid for or on finance Model X ? I remember watching it and will look it up and watch again. Few Motoring Journalists or Bloggers do use their own Offroaders Offroad, but there are the Odd ones that do. Offroad that is, not on Offroad Centres coarses. Either Invalidates Manufacturers Warranties as per T&C,. & there are even OFFROADERS that have T&C,s on Offroad use. PS The 4X4 right up my jacksy overtaking in the Slip road and ignoring the main route yesterday was a Grenadier. Reg number i could read after he passed had that sort of in Writing. Me and others were driving carefully due to the water on roads and i doubt the tyres he had were any more suited to conditions than mine or others around him. Getting a Push to Pass message.
  18. Either TESLA Aberdeen are low on spare parts like Low Voltage batteries or tey have been used up and the Just on time delivery / 24 hour delivery needs looking at Oop North. As to the sum of the parts. Tesla like the cheap / discounted now or the New for EU very cheap / Reasonably priced ones have expensive parts and the sum of the parts comes cheap. Import Taxes, long times at sea, transport ships caught in waterways is all adding up. Truth of the matter with TESLA or other EV,s, or any car, don't treat like Offroaders when they are not even fit to be Soft roaders and in no way are the SUV.s Not a Sport Utility. Really not even a Suburban Utility Vehicle if it might rain around Edinburgh.
  19. @Ian1975 What kind of aftermarket mods? 'Approved Used from a Dealers', so are the mods no issue with the Approved Used Warranty, 'Factory approved hardware or software'? Is it Serviced to Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendation or Schedule so Spark Plugs on record as changed, brake fluid etc etc.? PS Is it the Master Technician you have spoken with or just the Workshop / Service Manager or a Salesperson. Get the Full Service / maintenance & Warranty history in writing since a Skoda Approved Used Car. & there is a nice check list now for the 'Rigorous Checks' that they carry out. (Lost my Pig Flying picture.) EDIT. Found it. Now where is the Pinch of Salt one?
  20. They are very different cars. A Crossover, supposedly small SUV with a Kamiq. Tall Hatch Back. or Karoq, Small supposedly SUV, but FWD only. 1.0 TSI, is it with a DSG or is it a manual you are getting. Best go drive ones.
  21. Guest_ replied to ayrshiredude's topic in Škoda Kamiq
@ayrshiredudeThey must get used lots then, or not enough and worn cleaning off rust. Did you not get the car serviced before the Manufacturers Warranty expired and the MOT was due, no brake fluid change at 3 years / 30,000 miles or tested? Is it the Skoda Main Dealership that did the MOT? ??? In what way has it been well looked after if you never knew about the brakes before a MOT examiner told you? EDIT are the cars parked near the Sea / Clyde?
  22. There was maybe a better road or haulage with Horse & Carts or whatever when that house / estate was built and renovated and maintained over the years and what a pity the access is so poor a Recovery Truck can not access the place now in 2023. But then there was a weather warning and do not travel. PS Lets hope the Fire & Emergency services like a Fire Engine or ambulance never need to get to where the Tesla gets to! There is when you follow his channel how the lay of the land is, the road and other properties out of his gate.
  23. There is a case for the disbanding of Charge Place Scotland and the love in with Transport Scotland & the SNP and the Transport Ministers. They are incompetent, SWARCO have a monopoly with the CPS Contract, owning e-Volt and having Maintenance Contracts. @LuckypantsThere are plenty good chargers in many areas. Plenty roll up and use if not being abused by the greedy or ignorant because free or cheap. But in Dundee that is a SWARCO love in with the HQ there and hubs they are involved with. @ Stirling park and ride it is FES maintaining. Much better, just not enough Rapids. Edinburgh is ridiculous, as is Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire. Perth sat on millions of EU money for years but now Broxden EV Hub is near ready next to the Tesla Supercharger. Local Authority / Council employees, drivers of Local Authority EV,s are some of the worst offenders, even where that council have their chargers for their use there are employees taking out vehicles and a CPS card and have not a clue or care about others. NHS, Social Work as well, but locally plonkers with ROADS department vehicles hogging a Rapid for hours when the AC charger will do fine. (Because they are local to me i know how or what they are or do.) Signage to EV Public Hubs (Public funded) is pathetic, usually it is follow the Park & Ride signs, then guess where to go if you have the right ones. Non Park & Ride, maybe public car parks just crap, & the Apps accuracy as well even if you keep telling them & ask them to update. .................. The Scottish Greens are useless but form part of the Scottish Government. (Latest story on Lorna Slater MSP / Co Leader S.Greens and trees and the investors is a beaut. Oil & Gas money, banking and funding) http://theferret.scot/partner-government-climate-scheme-shares-big-oil They help nothing with EV,s and charging, and at least could do something about Transport Scotland and those running that. Not fit for purpose as are those they oversee.
  24. If that person recommended it then are you doubting them? Who were they? Plenty here will recommend the same and not know that Quantum comes from Fuchs now and VW Group dealerships use that. If you buy even Own Brand Label Oil to VW504 00 / 507 00, so 5w 30 FS III from Asda, Tesco, B&M or anyplace that is good oil produced by good oil companies. Or go Quantum / Fuchs, Comma, Castrol, Mobile or what ever, all just oils. Some have more spent on advertising. Buy the correct Oil Filter from a trusted seller, Maybe with VW/Audi on it or Mahle or what ever.
  25. I was pointing out for these Trades People & Couriers / Delivery drivers that have to drive EV,s because that is what they get / Rent from their employers and do not have HOME CHARGERS, or take a Van home. Gig economy. What makes it viable is Grants & Loans & Tax Breaks for those running / leasing / buying fleets, and it is great for the Manufacturers who really do need to be building Hubs for the Commercials that their Franchises / Dealerships sell / lease. They have the Dealerships / Land in the areas where people actually go for deliveries, depots etc. Commercial / Industrial Land, not for Residential Development in many instances. Not all obviously. Dealerships and their local are not using Electricity much when closed, or Off Peak and can easily have Solar or a Turbine and Battery Storage and a number of Places set aside for Public or their Leased vehicles with customers. Many do have 7 / 11 kW chargers, but locked up out of hours or behind barriers for the businesses security obviously. Now more have RAPID chargers for their own use. Unused much of the time.
