DSG service intervals
The VAQ servicing is something owners need to be aware of when they have that or are buying cars with it. Even Skoda / VW Approved used cars with FMDSH, yet not serviced to Manufacturers recommendations, guidelines or schedules. Not that the Manufacturers Recommendations are easy to find in written form, or to get vocalised to you are Skoda Main Dealerships in the UK. Too often it can be said that something is 'Optional' but then it is not really if a Manufacturers Warranty or Extended Warranty claim is required. Skoda Approved used cars get a Warranty on them even when stuff like Haldex, DSG, VAQ servicing has not been done. Try buying a Skoda Warranty and then not having the car serviced to 'Specification / recommendations, schedules' and having to claim, you might well get knocked back rather quickly as has happened to some.

1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engine failures
HALT! Before you go to lots of effort, first you speak to the Owner of the workshop that did the work for you. Maybe the manager first but ultimately the 'Owner' . The person the buck stops with. It is them that have to pay attention to their companies reputation, pay to be in the Trade Association, pay the Insurance and any legal fees incurred by their company. They might be dead helpful. Be sure to keep a record of all communications, maybe even record stuff or have a witness.

1.2TSI petrol oil warning light
Sounds like a check of the dash lights and warnings. The Yellow or Red Oil can does not stay on until the engine / sensors know the oil level or oil pressure is correct. If you ever get a Low oil warning message or Low Oil light when driving because there is low oil and you stop and open the bonnet for 30 seconds and do not top up the oil or even dip the oil the Warning then goes out for 100 km / 62 miles. Simply not clever PS. Is your oil being kept topped up to the proper quantity. So up towards the A area of the cross hatch and dipped when cold before starting to be sure there is oil, but the proper check done at Normal Operating temp so after the oil has got to 90*oC. Checked hot, not 'warm like a Skoda manual might say.

Important materials for batteries manufactured are come from the UK thanks to North Sea oil & gas. But then the UK Government have ideas above their station. http://news.sky.com/story/thousands-of-jobs-at-risk-as-government-falls-behind-plans-to-build-battery-industry-12539007 It is a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Recent campaign query
Someone is just telling lies with stuff like the warning light coming in so that the car comes in for the software update. Get people at a desk that come away with that sort of crap to put it in writing with their name, job title and signature.

Oil Change Message
If the car was set on Variable /Flexible servicing when it went in 2 services back and then just not reset the last lime then the Oil Service warning is likely correct. Not reset 6,100 miles ago. If the car is on Fixed Servicing then the owner can reset the Service Interval themselves without plugging anything in.

As it is the plan is to stop the sale of new ICE cars in the not distant future, so there is lots needing done in that time. Like a Motor Trade journal had an article only yesterday. Salespeople need to learn about EV's, not just here is an EV do you want one? They need to know about charging, range and not just driving their company car / demonstrator and charging it at work. Quicker than the increase of the sales of EV cars is the purchase of EV Vans and the sales people are again pretty clueless as are many buyers. Then Techs for cars, charger installations, hub installs, and much more. http://dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/motoring/ev-technologists-are-in-demand-27350902

Oil Change Message
So what did it say when you got the car back, 18,000 miles / 24 months, Variable, or 372 days /9,400 miles fixed. What did your oil invoice say as your car requires VW504 00 /507 00 5w 30 FS III even if getting fixed oil & filter services. The person that did the last Oil & Filter service never reset the Service Indicator correctly most likely. Simple as that.

It is easily summed up when it is said that a mix of energy sources are required and that transportation of goods including vessels, agricultural and heavy plant and industry will require hydrogen. Any one can become skilled to work with training if they are keen and there are those to train them. So we know all the new tech there is and all those leaving school that need jobs so time will tell if better to teach them young rather than teaching old dogs new tricks. This is the UK so there is lots of talking and little action.

Warning on Spark Plugs 1.4 TSI CAVE VRS, (& CTHE)'check the spark plugs!'
@thomasaspinor @Mickmartinare likely to know what the latest opinions are on the plugs to go with and the gap. I would be sticking with the Denso plugs that i used and recommended for years in the many many Twincharger Spark Plug threads. Buy from a trusted trader whatever you are buying.

Loosing coolant
This is the thing with engines, particularly VW engines and it can take years before you know how they will be for reliability of parts. VW have had them out for 6 years so time will tell if they got water pumps right this time. There has been decades since they changed from air cooled with them not managing to source good ones. There can always be premature failures. We learn how few as the years pass. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/506041-kodiaq-water-pump-problems

http://thenational.wales/news/20130428.national-grid-pay-customers-200m-trading-electricity-europe The National Grid which is not owned by any of the UK,s 4 nations is about transmitting electric and gas around the UK. Into the UK and out of the UK. Seemingly only making £20 profit per household. What it really is is making sure enough electric is available from where ever for England who can not generate enough of their own. The system seems to be very much about the bigger nation not actually paying more than the other 3 nations who could have energy much cheaper.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
Good. It can be about Skoda / VW getting paid and now about registrations in a quarter or even Average CO2 and first Registrations and what VW group require.

Have Skoda UK approved then not First Registering it until September?

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
Efficiency is. But then the cars are turned out on Summer / ECO tyres and not that efficient when cold, and the batteries are not and plenty chargers in Scotland are not good in cold weather, or hot weather or just any weather. Lets see how rear wheel drive Light Commercial EV's actually get on in winter once they appropriate tyres are fitted to them for use in rural areas in winter, and how they get on with 30 minute max charging times like in Edinburgh City or 45 minutes like East Lothian, Highland Region or any other regions.

So with gas being about equal to $300 a barrel while oil is back at about $100 dollars there are oil fired power stations being looked at being fired up to provide energy, that will no doubt include Diesel Farms in England that we all pay for to sit there as a contingency. Strange times as coal, oil and gas and woodchips are going to be generating electricity. If currently 43% of Electricity is produced from gas for the UK, that will be a lot of gas providing Englands electricity, maybe time that England had the highest tariffs not just because of the price of gas but because of the high emissions.

As E % moves higher and summer temperatures get higher ,is vaperlock going to be a problem?
In the UK the Ethanol is not above 10% so not rising & in some world regions it is 85% so not sure about the concerns in the OP. Then with E5 in parts of the UK it is not even 5% ethanol.

5000 mile oil change?
Invoices and paper records mean lots more to many buying a used car than Main Dealer Servicing that is no longer in a service book unless you get one and just invoices and receipts if you get that. Full Main Dealer Service History can be a history of not very much being done and maybe not very often. The impact on resale according to Dealers is huge, and when they sell you a car without a proper service history as you get even with Skoda approved used cars seemingly not an issue.

That is what happens as a battery is bigger, the 80% of 58 is more than 45 obviously. If 80% of 45 kWh is not going to take you far then you need to get a bit more charging and maybe go for 90%. The charge will slow down, but if you roll in with 10% so 4.5 kWh and only charge 33 kWh then you have 37.5 kW, fine if you are getting 3 miles to a kWh and you can get to another charger with 10% left. So maybe 100 miles to a charger. if it is cold and you get 2.7 miles per kWh then that 89 miles. 45 minutes might suit some charging at 100 kW and with the bigger batteries and the guy that runs the hub and drives a Tesla. 45 minutes if you can charge just to 50Kw might just give 27 kWh of a charge, sometimes less and that is starting out with a low battery. Its suits you getting 4 miles plus a kWh and with more @ 80% in your battery. You do not move on in your journey with a poor range if you know there are no chargers without going well off your route or you check and know the chargers are out of use, as in broken and staying broken. Well lots of people do not.

This winter or the first electric shortages should first be requiring energy reduction in London as really for such a big population the energy produced and the need to be using gas to just keep the lights on there is ridiculous. Then with heating that needs rationing because really the ambient day and night temperatures compared to much of the rest of the country are pretty low. Big issue is that ever person with an EV or every EV can not be plugged in every time it is parked or during offpeak times as every vehicle might not be near a charger, maybe just parked near where the people want it. Also they are not just plugging in at Public Street chargers if they need to pay and many people do not have off road parking and home charging. So that is for the future if the Westminster Government moves a bit with getting on with things. Like digging up roads and putting in infrastructure. The electricity that can be generated is not being used much of the time and not stored. Wind Farms are paid to not produce electricity and lots of electric generated never gets to the National Grid because the links were not built. They are being built now.

Do Skoda care/ how to advise them, of failures in safety systems? LKA lane keep assist confused by shadows
'or what ever i am driving at the time'. did you notice, that or maybe an eye test is in order? I have driven several Skoda & VW's with Lane Keep assist and most recently Enyaqs. The ID.3 was just terrible. Give it a try sometime and maybe do not mix up ACC, Brake Assist or other systems with LKA.

Germany has big issues coming up and will need to burn coal, as the UK will. Tonight the guy on the Channel 4 news talking about Germany was saying how they are getting their gas storage filled up and are getting on with building the hydrogen storage. This is the issue in the UK or actually England, they are not building the storage, turning off the wind turbines because the National Grid does not need the electricity and the green hydrogen is not being produced. The onshore and offshore windfarms are built or due on line and the countries of the UK have not the storage for it in EV's and battery storage in homes, businesses or battery farms. That is how the Oil & Gas producers have been happy for things to go and the income the nations have has has not been getting spent on energy security. 2018.
