Shorted a live
I am glad that you got it sorted out. I must take a photo of my fusebox just in case!

Shorted a live
Have you checked the fuses in the engine compartment as well as those in the cabin fusebox?

Random metal stick found in car engine query
You could check whether it is magnetic as Tungsten is only very weakly magnetic.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I have had a reply from Garmin, who also used Trafficmaster, basically saying that it is not their fault and that I should by a new sat nav from them that gets traffic info via an app on my phone.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
My Garmin stand alone sat nav, 1490T, uses Trafficmaster for traffic information, which does not now work, so there will also be a lot of disgruntled Garmin owners out there as well.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I don't know whether it is linked but I used my stand alone Garmin SatNav last week for the first time in over 6 months and it did not pick up any traffic data on the drive from Manchester to London, via Milton Keynes, and back. It normally shows a Green/Amber/Red circle in the top left of the screen to indicate a clear run or any problems but nothing showed up. I was annoyed as I spent about 3 hours stuck on the A3 last Friday afternoon due to an accident and it did not warn me at all!

Lots of errors on dash
I did notice that your version of VCDS is way out of date. I would suggest that you update it to the latest version, 23.3.0, and try the scan again. Also have you changed any settings using VCDS?

UK Stickers for France
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. JR - I am one of those worriers who wants to do thing right and minimise the risk of getting stopped and an on the spot fine. I even still have 2 breathalysers in my glove box even though the law is not enforced and they will be out of date by now. I am also very careful driving abroad and always obey the speed limits and look for people approaching from the right without stopping especially on roundabouts and from farm tracks. I think that I will buy some stickers for my number plates as that is the neatest solution and appears to be legal. However I may also (belt and braces) get an oval UK sticker just in case and because some European countries still require one.

UK Stickers for France
I had read that but I am uncertain whether it meant that the "UK" and flag had to be printed at the same time as the number plate or that they could be added later. As you know most number plates are clear plastic with a printed adhesive sheet on the back. Sticking a sticker on the front of the plate would not be so durable but should last for the holiday unless someone was intent on removing it.

UK Stickers for France
We will be going to France in our Octavia in June this year. It is the first time that we have taken the car abroad since Brexit. I know that the rules have changed and that I need a "UK" sticker on the rear of the car and not "GB". I currently have front and rear number plates with "EU" and the ring of stars on them. What I cannot find out is if I cover the current "EU" part of my number plates with a sticker e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294428739888 then do I still need a "UK" oval sticker, for which I cannot find the minimum size of, on the back of the car? I am taking our push bikes on a tow bar mounted carrier so if I do need a separate "GB" sticker then I will have to find a way to attach one to the rear of the bike carrier as the bikes would obscure one on the back of the car. Does anybody have any experience of whether the number plate stickers are accepted in France by the Gendarmerie?

Octavia Mk2 Clock reset
Does the twisting and pressing the trip reset knob between the speedometer and tachometer not work to reset the clock?

My first moped, at 16, was a Raleigh Runabout as the law changed on riding a real motorcycle at 16 just before my birthday if I remember correctly.

Hello, South Manchester
Welcome to the forum broadcaststorm. I am also from South Manchester. There is a lot of information on the forums so the search facility is very useful in trying to find what you want to know before you start a new thread.

Emissions scandle
I would have thought that these legal firms would have wanted people to say how much money they have received from these claims to entice other owners to sign up with them. Or is it because they do not want people to know how much they have creamed off the payout? Note: Although I have owned from new a 2.0l diesel EA189 engine I have not had the fix applied and I have not joined any group claim for compensation.

Cazoo Bother
I have just looked at an Enyaq on the Cazoo site to see whether I could download the results of the 300 point inspection but it does not seem to be available to buyers. However the details of the Enyaq do state that they car out an oil and filter change on EVERY Cazoo car before they list it for sale. I wonder which oil and filter they charge on a electric car?

Cazoo Bother
When you look at a car on their site can you download the results of the 300 point inspection? I have often wondered what 300 points are inspected.

This is the photo of the actual birdstrike. https://premierleague-news.com/cornwall-news-bird-smashes-into-red-arrow-cockpit-ending-display-uk-news/61341/ I wonder how much the photographer will make from it?

Didn't one have a bird strike through the canopy? I assume that it is still near Rhyl grounded until repairs are made.

Potential issue with finance
Do you have the value of the Tucson and a statement that they would honour that price no matter when your Octavia arrives in writing? If so then, in my opinion, you have a binding contract. If not then you will have to go through the Ts&Cs of any contract that you have signed.
