  1. That crossed my mind too. I'm about a mile away from the sea as the crow flies, and apart from the one problematic bit on the tailgate, mine had no other rust, even when mine was the same age as his is now. Gaz
  2. Good job 👍 and a nice epilogue to part one 😎 Gaz
  3. Sunset above Belle Tout, near Beachy Head: Gaz
  4. Previous comment removed as doesn't add to the sale of this lovely looking Yeti. Gaz
  5. I'd get another opinion if it was me. 75% worn to me means 25% left, and 25% doesn't sound like 'required' work. Unless of course there's more to it and they're 75% worn but also completely knackered. Brakes are important and need looking after properly, but this sounds like upselling to me - without further info to suggest otherwise. Gaz
  6. Hello Paddywhack A diesel Superb (2005 Mk1) was the first Skoda I owned. It was a .....cough..... superb introduction to the brand. Gaz
  7. Hola Alfons Don't worry about your english - just wait until you see some of the rubbish us natives type! Gaz
  8. Hello Callum Good looking mkIV 😎 Gaz
  9. Hello MGandalf I drove down to northern Italy a couple of years ago - beautiful part of the world, although I really do need to improve my italian 🙄 Gaz

    Hello and welcome Delco Gaz
  11. Could it be mould or bacterial growth in the air conditioning ducts? It could obviously be many things, but as a simple start, you could try letting off an air-conditioning spray/bomb in the car. Worked really well on my 2015 vRS when it got a bit of a whiff. Gaz
  12. Might sound daft, but it's not in tight clothing is it? One of my Superb keys activated really easily and I had a number of occasions I went out to find it unlocked with all the windows open. Never happened when the key wasn't in my pocket. I've recently put a first new battery in the Golf's key fob, and this brand new battery only lasted a fortnight. Its replacement is doing fine - go figure. Gaz
  13. Ends March 16th: https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1972-john-dodds-the-beast-8bEqL4 Gaz
  14. Logical yes, but if the calliper is not moving freely on the carrier pins, then the piston in the calliper can produce more force (and therefore wear) on the inboard pads. Not always the case. or even common, but needs a visual check to confirm. Gaz
  15. I do like a nice Monte 😎 Hadn't appreciated you could still get 'em. Gaz
  16. Odd if potentially low brake pads didn't get a mention at the MOT. My local MOT station is quite hot on it, and the main dealers are shameless in upselling new pads/discs at every opportunity. Could you have something trapped (a small stone?) that's causing the squeal? Or is it possibly a low pad wear squeal spring doing its job? An inspection and photos would be an interesting addition to this thread. As others have suggested, I'd be looking at the inboard side closely, once you've got the wheels off. Gaz

    Hello Triethis Gaz
  18. Aww see, now being a great admirer of the beauty of Scotland, that just makes me want to pop up to do some pruning/tidying. Alas, the last time I was up that way, it was 11+ hours to get there, so it's a bit more than just a 'pop' 😳 Six hours to the Wirral last weekend was enough for my tired old bones. G
  19. Our George @toot has just found my original post from May 2016 😎: Gaz
  20. Oh good sleuthing that man - mochas gracias George 👍 It's obviously me doing something wrong, but when I search on threads I started, I can't see anything before 24 October 2021: Which is odd as I've been on here since 2012 Gaz
  21. I went back to the dealership, asked them if they really thought it reasonable to expect rust at this point (because I didn't), provided them with some high resolution photo's, told them I'd already spoken with Trading Standards (I had) and asked them to re-submit before I considered my next steps, which was enough to galvanise a more acceptable response. I'm struggling to find photo's, or my previous thread from around May 2016. Gaz Found one photo - reckon the rest died when my 2011 MacBook Pro went belly up:
  22. I had rust on my tailgate in 2016, when my car was under a year old. The claim was rejected by Skoda. I was about to seek legal advice, but the claim was then accepted, second time around. Don't give up too soon! Gaz
  23. Hello Charlie Yeah, make yer Dad get his own account. Bloomin' freeloading parents, who'd have 'em eh. Tchh Gaz
