I was outside the front of my house this afternoon, saying hello to my 18 month old neighbour and his Mum. He's very cute, and although he'd just eaten a banana, I let him play with my phone When I went back indoors to finish my cuppa tea, he'd somehow managed to activate my camera. I had a 2015 vRS Estate and loved it. Might not be as comfortable as you think as a family wagon. With our worsening roads, I’d be more tempted by the 1.5 which will have a bigger sidewall on the tyres, so a bit better on potholes and duff road surfaces. Gaz

The V70's 15 years old - so it's averaged 2,667 a year: I bought it last year at 33k miles, so I've put 7k miles on it. 1200 of those were the trip last May up to Edinburgh. Gaz

Mrs Gaz's Polo GTI (1.8TSI) had a barely discernible misfire, which turned out to be a failing coil pack - a diagnostic scan revealed which one. It was an easy fix once we knew what it was. It flagged up as it got worse, triggering the EPC light. The car is rarely under any load, with usually only one person in it, but I could see it being far more noticeable had it been loaded up like yours. Our petrol cars are run pretty much exclusively on Momentum 99 👍. I've seen so many people say it doesn't notice whether 95 or 99RON is used, but I'm darn sure I can notice; moreso when giving it the beans. Gaz

Absolutely right. But you've lost me a bit; in your previous post you said it looks like a Discover Media unit: So I was pointing out that it doesn't look like my Discover unit. It takes very little to confirm 3V0035820H is an MIB3 unit: And that the unit in the glovebox doesn't come with two SD card slots. Interestingly it appears this unit can come both with, and without Satnav. Gaz

The coolant is in a closed system, which by design builds pressure. The coolant in the system can and does go past the boiling point of water, which is what in part causes the system to pressurise. As everything gets hot, the coolant is given a vessel to expand in to - the expansion tank. As you de-pressurise the system by unscrewing the lid on the expansion (or header) tank, the fluid, which is already under pressure, will naturally want to expand into it. This is normal, and the water will be very hot, if not boiling. Although my Golf's not diesel here's a picture of what I think is the same area on mine: If you heater is still working, then no pipes to the heater matrix have been removed. The heating pipes go through the bulkhead to the right of the above photo - about a foot closer to where the battery is. Here's a picture of them on mine: Hope that helps a bit. Gaz

Another Skoda dealer who either doesn't know what they're on about, or wants to dust off their money printing machine 🙄 When my vRS had heating problems, I also looked at videos on YT and felt it was something I'd be able to do myself via the nearside footwell. Like you, not a mechanic but relatively handy with spanners. Mine turned out to be a much more serious problem, so I didn't end up changing the matrix, but I was quite confident it was doable DIY 👍 Gaz

Odd that it’s got the button if it didn’t come with it. Could it be as simple as the satnav card being missing from its slot? With the button being present, I’d think it a racing certainty it’s there, but might need unlocking by the dealer. My Wife’s car has Android Auto/Car Play installed, but she won’t pay the cost to have it enabled 🙄 Gaz

Seeing posts on the All Season tyre thread, I thought an update would be timely. Since fitting the CC2's nearly four years ago at 17k miles, I've had to replace two tyres, in January 2023 (24k miles - pot hole) and November 2023 (28k miles - puncture). The GTI's now at 41k miles and tyres are at 3 & 4mm on the original two, and 5 & 6mm on the 2023 tyres. There's some very light perishing on the older two tyres, but nothing untoward IMO. So if they started at 6.8mm, I've used 3.8mm in 24k miles on the most worn tyre. Pretty happy with that, all told. I still think I'll replace them with Pilot Sports when the time comes, but the new CC3 Sports might have put a fly in that particular ointment. Gaz

That was interesting. I'm still going with the CC2's on my GTI. They went on at 17k miles in September 2021, it's now on 41k miles and they still have life in them. Given that I've previously said I won't have them again, but will likely go back to Pilot Sports, with the advent of the CC3 Sport, it might be they have what I've found a bit lacking in the 2's? 6.1mm fresh out of the box doesn't seem much (at least compared to others), but I'd not complain if they last anywhere near as long as the 2's have. Off topic, but we recently changed the PS4's on the Polo to Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 6's, and I have to say I really like them. Nice bit of rim protection on them too 👍 Gaz

Puulease, it's a DSLR 🤣 None of that crusty old analogue stuff (old D stuff instead 😁). No rush, and certainly no time pressures from me.
