Location of draining tap for radiator on 2.0tsi engine
I want to attempt a coolant drain and flush on my Octavia. It's 5 years old, silica bag removed. My issue is that I cannot for the life of me see or find the drain tap at the bottom of the radiator for my 2.0tsi 190 ea888 engine beasty. I know the bottom tray will have to come off, does anybody have any pictures of where the drain tap is located on the radiator and how they managed to drain the coolant as the car has to be on the flat when doing so.

Thought my car was catching fire.... don't worry it was a GPF Regen
Well, I can confirm that my Octavia definitely didn't display the Indicator light; but it was absolutely doing a regen.

Thought my car was catching fire.... don't worry it was a GPF Regen
Holly Molly. Went to the supermarket this afternoon. Car was acting up. Really rough idle, very jerky gear changes, car felt it was unhappy. Got to the supermarket and started sniffing as I got the strongest of burning smells. I lifted the bonnet and the smell was coming from the back of the engine. I then put two and two together and realised that the rough running and the burning smell was the TSI equivalent of a major regen and as I have a Euro6a car, it has a GPF in it. Car was doing a regen, but had finished by the time I got to our destination. Never smelt it go like this before but it might also have been the Lanolin under body spray I put under the car to protect it reacting with the heat in the GPF. Its not as obvious as a TDI with the fans running at high speeds, it just doesn't auto stop start. This posting is just in case anybody else experiences this issue.

Travel mug
Of course, if you buy a Skoda travel mug, it does fit in there without any issues.

Replace Rear final drive, correct part no.?
The letters at the end denotes the revision of the part. Get the highest letter you can - e.g. C at the end of the part would denote it's the third revision of that item; G would denote it's the 7th revision etc.

Rough Idle
If you have oil coming from the back of the engine, my first go-to check would be the Turbo or the PCV valve failing. We really need a scan done on the car - either from a ODBEleven scanner (you should always keep one handy if you own a VAG product) or (genuine) VCDS. Post it the output in here and we can advise further.

2017 MIB 2 Screen retrofit 5E0 919 605 M
Nope - you haven't purchased the wrong system. You need to do some work on the cabling mods. A long while ago, I wrote this whole process up:

Skoda octavia 2021 i wil Update software and maps i have problem
Guys - as this is MIB3 related and therefore not MK3 Octavia related, I've asked for this thread to move to the MK4 Octavia folder.

Retrofit bonnet strut
No sadly not - the mounting points are slightly different. You used to get them from Kopacek but they've stopped sending these to the UK now.

DPF Process Octavia VRS TDI 2013 & OIL Burn
Apologies... couldn't remember if it was 0.5l or 1litre. Anyhow OP car is still using waaayy to much oil. I've edited my previous posting.

Skoda Octavia MK3 2.0tsi petrol estate - infotainment screen (with Canton) locking.
Is that a Canton system with an Amunsden or Columbus system? I would first try a factory reset; then speak to @pab567 about firmware (once you've identified your system) and then take it from there....

Vcds help
Get yourself an ODBEleven system. As good as VCDS.

Steering problem
They aren't interested in customer service or looking after MK3 Octavia's any longer. Find a good local VAG specialist for the same care, but at a more reasonable price.

Jerking when shifting gears
Nope - none of the above. DQ250 boxes require a oil and filter change every 40,000 miles or 64,000 kms. They are very sensitive to dirty oil and a oil/filter change might help. Would also get a scan to make sure that the clutch bite is not out of alignment - the gearbox will throw an error if that is an issue (i.e. the clutch pack is worn and needs new clutches)

DPF Process Octavia VRS TDI 2013 & OIL Burn
P.S. the reason why you have the DPF light on is because the fact that engine oil is getting into the DPF and blocking it up. Urgently suggest getting it to a local VAG specialist for attention.

DPF Process Octavia VRS TDI 2013 & OIL Burn
Blimey - that's not good. The minimum mileage of distance to oil is 0.5l per 1000 kms so you are well under that. Assume you have the TDI180 engine; generally good engines. With that kind of oil usage, there has got to be a fairly catastrophic level of consumption going on. Check your EGR valve is not bypassing oil into the burn cycle. Also check that the turbo hasn't failed and is bypassing oil too. It's also a possibility that you have serious engine wear or the oil rings have stuck one of the cylinders. Check your coolant - if you have oil in there, it maybe the cylinder head gasket that has failed.

Mechatronic repair recommendation?
I'm assuming it is a DQ381-A 7 Speed automatic....or is it a DQ250-A 6 speed gearbox? Mechatronic units do fail, but the reason why the local garages are not wanting to place nicely is that they are concerned about 'come-backs'. Honestly - get the mechatronic unit repaired; it will be a solenoid failure. Probably worth getting all the solenoid's replaced. Speak to the repair people first; get fresh fluids and filters put on the system. If you are also feeling flush, it might also be a good time to get new clutches installed too....and as to the garages worrying about it; just tell them that you take responsibility.

Infotainment System - Deletes Presets
As a minimum, you need to get the firmware up to 0253. Anything earlier is buggy.

Infotainment System - Deletes Presets
Where did you get your nav SD card from? If it's just a standard SD card, it won't work. It needs to be the specific Skoda SD Navigation card for that car. Your second issue sounds like a power problem. Do you have an old and failing battery? Do a CCA test and if it is below 70% of the advertised capacity, it's junk and needs replacing (remember to code in the new battery). If the voltage drops below a certain value, then the MIB system will factory reset.

Silly Wing Mirror Question...
Yes, they are designed to go both ways. Forward as well as back. Don't try to operate the mirrors when they are forward as that will break the motor but just pop it back to the previous position and close as per normal and all will be good.
