  1. Just check the firmware on your MIB2.5 system. This issue with incorrectly picking up the wrong location on the SD card - was a bug. For MIB2 Amunsden and Bolaro systems, you need to be on version 0480 (for SOP 4.x). Anything less than this - and you need a firmware update. If you are running 02xx firmware, its version 0253, if its 03xx firmware, then it should be 0363, if its 04xx, then it should be 0480. Press MENU (and hold for about 3 secs), go to firmware and firmware version.
  2. Do the basic checks on the battery and alternator and check the CCA of the battery. I have a rule of thumb that anything less than 70% of the given CCA on the battery means it's probably junk and needs replacing.
  3. You know you can get the DQ200 box serviced? Whilst it doesn't have a scheduled service and it is "sealed for life" - there are numerous DSG specialists out there who can service the box for you. Its mainly a fluid change, but depending on the shop, they can also make sure you have the latest firmware on the box too.
  4. If you fancy a drive up to the Scottish Borders, I'm happy to assist. BTW - the latest firmware is 0480 for the Amundsen system.
  5. Best stick to the VAG standards on this: 2020 cars - on the TSI side - using the VAG 508/509 standard - which is 0W20. This is also known as LL4 (longlife 4) Older cars (2013-2018) - use the older VAG 504/507 standard. This is also known as LL3 (longlife 3) - and is typically - 5W30 or 0W30. With higher mileage engines, use a 5W30.
  6. yuks - I've heard stories of MIB systems going bad, but we do need a scan done on the car first. It is a possibility that the MIB system is shorting to ground and being a parasitic drain on the battery. Keep it on a battery maintainer. Don't pull random fuses...we need a scan of the car first. MIB systems - we have a resident expert in-house: @pab567 - can hopefully sort you with a new system once we have a full code scan of the car.
  7. Ideally, you need to replace all the glow plugs (don't forget that GP in cylinder 3 is a special type). They really need replacing after about 120,000 miles/193,000kms Not sure how or why a glow plug fault would be the gearbox??? That's an odd thought jump.
  8. Its going to be either the flap motor that has failed or (and lets hope it isn't) - the silica bag of doom has split in the coolant header tank and blocked your heater matrix. Can you show us a picture of the header tank (if its brown and sluggy, then this is what has happened and you need several coolant flushes to clean all this out). Can you also arrange to get a scan of your car by somebody who has a VCDS/ODBEleven system please?
  9. It sounds like you had a cylinder head gasket failure (if there is a reasonable amount of coolant going AWOL). Can you put in some more coolant, and then do a pressure test on the coolant system and/or a coolant gas analysis test on the coolant. You can also find more information on this fault at https://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16785/P0401/001025 One other area of checking: Some TDI-CR engines have a filter for the EGR that can become restricted and cause a "Insufficient Flow" code. Don't know if you have a TDI or TSI engine though.
  10. You might have more luck if you head over to the https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/7-audio-electronics-and-security/ part of Briskoda.
  11. I would recommend getting some CANBUS friendly LED bulbs. They should be H8. Stick with an OSRAM or Philips LED bulb set.. Something like Philips Ultinon Access LED car headlight bulb (Fog H8/H9/H16).
  12. Have you followed the instructions as shown in https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/299424-octavia-iii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/#comment-3762212
  13. Does it have halogen or LED fog lights?
  14. If there is ever a reason why you need to regularly change your oil, the above is a good reason why.
  15. Nope - you cannot upgrade from SOP 2.x (02xx) to SOP3.x (03xx) or SOP4.x (04xx) firmware, although there are people on here who claim you can. Its high risk though.
  16. Try this thread: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/496945-cigarette-lighter-not-working/
  17. What fuel are you running the car on? I've seen this fault before; before you head down the rabbit hole can I suggest that you do a fill-up with some Shell V-Power and see if that improves the issue. If the misfire is more prevalent at cold, then this is definitely the problem. The theory is that the injectors are getting gummed up and with the little 1.0tsi engine, you need every ounce of help you can get. Tell the user of the car to fill up and take the car on an Italian tune-up; long fast run - keep it in 5th (don't use 6th) ; keep the engine revs high - and take it for a fast motorway/A-road blast. Don't be afraid to use the accelerator and floor it. Also check that the oil level is good before doing this.
  18. A low grumble like this will probably be the DMF failing. They do that - especially if the car has been abused - failure to let the gearbox warm before applying full power; towed extra weight etc.
  19. Marginal - and if the battery is 10 years old and original, then yes, it should be replaced. You can confirm this yourself by doing a CCA test on the battery. Anything less than 60-70% capacity IMHO means a new battery is required.
  20. Make sure that the window felt/brushes are clear as much as possible. I've found that if these are clogged with dirt, no only can they scratch the glass, it places additional resistance and can cause the alignment process to silently fail.
  21. Right - you need to invest in some VERY expensive VAG sunroof lubricant. Its better than regular silicon spray as it doesn't attract dirt. Part No: G00045002 Secondly, you'll need to go around and tighten up any of the visible screws. Make sure the wind deflector is also not bouncing around Thirdly - and this happened to me on my 2019 L&K, the cover for the sunroof / panoramic screen - wasn't always clipped in at the factory and this will also need to be taken apart and put back together at a Skoda or VAG specialist garage.
  22. A first port of call with HVAC is to get it re-gassed. This is really needed once every 3 years - as the refrigerant leaks out slowly. Then try again.
  23. If you are doing motorway miles, get a 2.0 TSI or TDI (probably TDI IMHO). A TDI 190 with a 7 speed DQ381 box is the sweet spot on the MK3's - cars from 2018-2020.
  24. If you run some 98RON E5 in the car for a while and make you are more progressive with your driving style; do this at least once a week (and include some emergency stops to keep the brakes good too at the same time), the error light for the GPF should not come back on.
