Yep, I get that. Perhaps I should have been more explicit in my earlier reply. My suspicion is/was that without a subscription for online routing and mapping it can’t access stuff outside of your local area; and that the local data was cached in the system during the early life of the car. Of course, I could be completely wrong! What I do know is that with a subscription I can navigate to a side street in a tiny village in Northern Italy.

Welcome to the forums @Tipperarypaul. For the phone I always use voice control to initiate a call; in my case CarPlay (Siri), and AndroidAuto I am sure will have very similar functionality. Ending a call I either tap the red 'end call' on the Infotainment screen or simply let the other person hang up. Well done finding the windows setting. The menus are very deep and it can take a while to work through them all.

Yeah, unfortunately my car is an early build Mk4 - and it doesn’t support lock/unlock with the app ☹️ I’ll have to try putting one of the keys in the boot and see what happens… Worst case, I’ll disable KESSY. Thank you @GrumpyOldGit for highlighting the potential issue.

Hmmm... A scary moment indeed, but I thought it wasn't supposed to do that. So pleased you managed to get it unlocked to continue your trip (albeit with reduced funds which were no doubt much needed for a wee dram, or three).

That's not something I have noticed but it does make sense that if the steering wheel doesn't 'see' any inputs the system thinks your not steering the car. Thanks.

The message comes from the lane assist which ACC relies on. Usually occurs when drifting off centre of the lane. If yours is worse then maybe it’s in need of calibration.

In mine (1.5TSI), the shift from first to second is usually not as smooth as changing up to the higher gears, but sometimes it is absolutely fine! It isn't as bad as yours sounds to be and I have never felt the need to speak to the dealer about it. As the mileage has increased it has improved notably but still there at 48k miles - the times it is smoother are when the engine/transmission are fully warmed up and a relatively leisurely gear change. On and off over my 45+ years of motoring I have noticed the same thing in cars including my late 70s Triumph Dolomite, 80s Mini, Ford Escort & Vauxhall Astra and 14 plate Superb. But who knows! The 'box on my Dolomite was rebuilt and a roller bearing replaced and linkages adjusted several times, all to no avail. Because of this I have assumed there is something in my driving style - perhaps my timing of clutch & gear shift actions in the lower gears which are usually a quicker shift than those to higher gears, especially around town. Lots of me blathering on, and I'm not sure it's much help... 🙄

Last month I replaced all four tyres on mine, 46k miles from a set of Michelin Primacy 4. The fronts slightly more worn than the rears. They were down to about 3.5mm tread left but decided to replace all as I had an unrepairable puncture near the sidewall in the right rear and with winter approaching thought a new set of boots was worth it.

I have only two keys, so no idea if the third will be needed. Sorry to say I am out of ideas now 🙄Hope you can get it sorted.

Welcome to the forums. I'm not familiar with the FL versions but from what you describe things don't sound quite right. Perhaps force a restart of the infotainment system (typically hold the on/off button for 10 seconds or so with the ignition on). My only other thought is were you able to create & login as the main user of the car? If not, then the dealer will probably need to assist in verifying your ownership and authenticating via the Škoda servers. Hope you can get it sorted soon...

From the tinkering with these that I have done... Driving dynamics - very little, but driving the same road with and without this in 'Sport' there is a hint that the ride is firmer. It's so slight I might be 'wanting to feel it' rather than actually feeling it. Presumably if the car had DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) then there would be a noticeable difference. Mine doesn't have DCC so I wonder why this setting is there, hence looking for any change. Gut feel is tyre pressures make a bigger difference. Drive - the throttle response is slower in ECO than in Normal. Sport makes it sharper. Having used ECO for a while I think Normal is a more drivable setting, and gives magically better fuel economy on long motorway trips with a hefty load in the back. Steering - in Sport it is heavier and I think more responsive to inputs. I disliked it so use Normal. ACC - after slowing car behind traffic, the acceleration is less severe in ECO AirCon - dunno... Can't remember the rest! When I first got the car I spent ages fiddling till I either found a setting I liked or got bored trying it.

Just had a look at mine, and a couple of photos below. When refitting the A331H blade it needed a bit of a wiggle to push fully home. After the initial pressing in the lock catch to insert it into the arm, it then hit what felt like a ‘stop’, a slight pressure towards the rear screen allowed it to slot fully in and engage the locking catch.

That’s odd. Changed mine about 18 months ago. The A331H fits fine on my 2020 SEL estate.

Might be a different setup in NZ then, my UK SEL FE only washes the lights when they’re on - first time with the windscreen than every sixth (I think). To be honest I’d rather the lights are cleaned; and just thought - if the conditions are bad enough to need the washers then wouldn’t the bonnet will be filthy anyway?

Further to my post above, I have a 16” steel rim with 205/55 tyre, it’s classed as a temporary spare as my road wheels are 205/55 17” - a different circumference. Looking in the wheel well, I reckon there is space for a slightly higher profile 205/60 16” . It’d be tight though. The toolkit insert fits fine under the boot floor no problem with the items I have. Part numbers are posted above.

There is quite a bit of new tech in the mk4 Octavia compared to previous models - and it can take a while to get used to it. My best advice is to be patient, take some time to go through all the menus in the infotainment system and configure it best you can referring to the manual for things that are not obvious (as was the case for me, switching from a Mk2 Superb to the Mk4 Octavia SEL FE). Once set up to your liking it's dead easy to use. The Lane control can be tedious, irritating, down right annoying, or a useful safety feature. All opinions are valid and rehearsed many a time in this forum over the four years of so of the Mk4 (There many strong opinions expressed over the years!). Personally, I rarely get wound up by it nowadays as I have learnt to know the types of scenario it will try to do what it's programmed to do yet - as an example, when a single lane becomes two lanes mine tries to keep me central between the white lines whilst I'm choosing to take one of the two lanes ahead well before the central line appears. Yes, another thing to anticipate but soon get used to it. I have turned off the steering wheel vibration (which stays off thankfully). As for the Infotainment being a distraction, that lessens with familiarity. If your car has voice control then start using it, so much easier for radio, music, temperature control. Similarly with CarPlay or AndroidAuto - the voice control is a big help.

Hi, You don’t mention if your mobile is Android or iOS. Early versions didn’t support wireless AndroidAuto, later one do. iOS should work wirelessly with older infotainment versions.

Yep, but the online route allows change of Škoda ID too.

Go to https://skodaid.vwgroup.io and log in, under the Contact Info section tap your email address, then Change email. I did it about 18 months ago. There were a few emails to old and new addresses checking that it was me changing it and confirming I actually want to do it. Then had to update the settings in the car and app.

A couple of long runs seems to have done the trick. I hadn't realised SWAMBO was taking it in for a service this week and she asked them to test the battery - all OK. We'll keep an eye on it over the next few weeks as well just in case but I reckon a series of short trips with aircon at full tilt probably took the edge off and not enough to recharge it sufficiently. My 2020 Octavia Mk4 SEL FE has 17" alloys as standard but last September (2023) I managed to get a space saver 16" steel wheel and tyre plus the toolset from my dealer, i.e. everything you need. The parts were... 5E0601011J - 16" wheel 5E0093860E - Sp. Wheel Set Total price was £190.00.

Video can be played from a file on a USB-C source connect at the ports in the front console. However, the image is not displayed whilst the car is moving, audio continues. This was the case on earlier versions but haven’t proven it on v1941.
