  1. How can manufactures get away with this? A replacement bulb will be a few pound to buy, yet with a ludicrous amount of labour time to fit it; no doubt the overall bill would be over £100. Doesn’t fit well with the UK Right to Repair legislation.
  2. Occasionally I have had the park (manoeuvre) assist error which I think is usually caused by road dirt of something obscuring the sensors. Sometimes the infotainment system restarts itself about the same time, but not always. It is more frequent now we have the winter weather and more road grime.
  3. The MyŠKODA app is working for me (app v 5.2.7 on iOS 16.2) so guess the servers are up and running. Can understand your frustration! Is it that the app won’t connect to the car, or simply that the app won’t connect to anything (eg to login in)? If the latter, is it the same if you’re on Wi-Fi and 3G/4G/5G? Just wondering if there is something at the network level stopping your phone reaching the servers. Have you tried deleting the app & it’s data, restarting the phone then reinstalling the app? Maybe restart phone again after the install.
  4. That’s a fairly widely commented Front Assist ‘thing’. Seems to be frost or dew causes the error until it clears after a few minutes driving. Road grime build up also can cause it. For the trip mileage I use the Long Term readings. They can be reset using either the steering wheel knobs or through the infotainment screen. Since Start can also be reset IIRC
  5. There was a thread ages ago about boot liners for the Mk4. Might help…
  6. IIRC you need both keys to become Primary User in the car; to be authenticated via the dealer I didn't need both keys, just ID and proof of purchase.
  7. Sorry, I don't know. My car doesn't have the feature either so never got that far!
  8. try here: https://availability.skoda-auto.com/210/en-gb#/
  9. The subscription is the Care Connect, £36/yr in the uk. To set up you need to be a verified main user of the car, will need the Dealer to do the verification. After that, it should appear in the app. However, if your car is like mine, it isn’t supported despite the web pages saying it’s available on cars since somewhen in 2018. There is a checker online, type in the VIN and it’ll let you know what services are available for your car (if I can find the page again will add it).
  10. Occasionally mine won't connect, though rarely for more than a few hours. I assume its server issues or a [temporary] mobile signal blackhole
  11. Similar to others' comments I leave mine on all the time - set the desired internal temperature and letting the system do its thing. One of the things I like is that on those cold dry mornings it sits there doing very little for the first few minutes or so then as the engine warms up the fan speed increases. Far better than being blasted with cold air. Also, I'm impressed at how quickly it clears the mist from inside the windows, way better than any previous car I've had.
  12. Sorry to hear about the Octavia. I hope there were no injuries, or if there were, they were minor. Probably worth a try selling it (maybe a low price?) on Gumtree, FB Marketplace or eBay - never know somebody have have spilt something or otherwise damaged their own. If there are no takers, then dump it. Its a shame there are specific mouldings in the boot area for the raised floor else you'd have a wider market.
  13. It seems therefore, we have a choice. Buy a pair of deflectors maintaining a good light ahead or lower the beam angle with dashboard/infotainment system controls so the left dip ‘kick up’ doesn’t dazzle whilst barely lighting a few yards in front. Personally I prefer to see where I’m going and not dazzle other drivers, thus I will continue to buy the deflectors - which I consider good value when bought from the right supplier &/or at the right time (i.e. NOT at the ferry/tunnel terminal).
  14. I get the same. A heavy dew and within a few 100 yards or so the error comes up. After about a mile it clears and all well.
  15. So, if I read this correctly, you don’t care if you dazzle other motorists coming in the opposite direction; nor that your vehicle doesn’t comply with the local regulations. Hmmm… Please correct me if I’m wrong.
  16. Seems it’s only Google maps and Waze that mess up CarPlay. Similar thread here -
  17. From my experience CarPlay issues only arise when using Google Maps or Waze. Spotify, Apple Music, Apple Maps, etc all work fine, all easily controlled by Siri. Soon after loading either Google Maps or Waze problems begin either with the display or functionality (like G. Maps finding a route but to actually able to start the route guidance, either by voice or tap the screen). Conspiracy theorists reckon its a ploy to make CarPlay look unreliable…
  18. Guess this is why I said I was surprised by the 1.5 manual estate… Last week a trip up the M3 & A316 (Winchester to Kew return) at legal limits and 5pm traffic on the back gave 60mpg. Today, 70 mile trip back from rural Dorest it was 66mpg. Off topic though, oops😬
  19. Also, I’d like to think the dealer would have applied ALL s/ware updates and fixes before selling it. Quite disappointing. Keep the pressure on the dealer to get everything fixed. The Octy4 is a lovely car, surprisingly economical (well, I was surprised anyway! My 1.5 tsi is pretty much on a par for mpg as my (two cars previous) Octy 2 1.6tdi; and much nicer place to be. Oh! And more importantly, welcome to the forums 😊👍
  20. They should be able to swap out the SOS unit under warranty. It’s a know problem and fixed I. Many a mk4, including mine.
  21. I have an early build SEL First Edition, had plenty of software issues but all now resolved. Hopefully the fixes are in new build cars. Ambient lighting is there in mine, thought was standard in the SEL and not a First Edition ‘add-on’ like the electric/memory drivers seat. Being an estate version I got a rear wiper anyway. High beam assist is, as you say, available at a cost. I haven’t gone there as it seems a lot of money to not have to flick a switch.
  22. Welcome to the world of Škoda and these pages. Hope you enjoy your Oct4 as much as I am mine. I'm not aware of any places around the midlands but these guys in Yorkshire are, I think, one of sponsors of Briskoda and I've read good things of them.
  23. To be fair, a paper atlas is only as good as the person reading it. My aunt complained she couldn’t find the big river shown on the map - it was the M6 🙄 Massively frustrating! Hopefully a trip to the dealer will sort it…
  24. A software update applied to mine last month included fixes for the Clima system, amongst others. I find that there is a heavy dew on the car it can cause the front assist to report errors for the first 1/2 mile or so. Same could apply to rear sensors I guess but I haven’t experienced it. Check your radio settings. The default quick change (buttons on the left spoke of steering wheel) is to flick through all stations. Those stations will change depending on location and signal strength; change it to cycle through favourites for more consistency.
