  1. Welcome to the forums… Sounds like you need to get the dealer to apply all the updates to your car. CarPlay and ACC have been fixed for many on this forum. I’ve not come across the SatNav issue mentioned, but guess updates will help. I don’t have a hybrid so can’t help on that one. You're right about the economy though, I’m very impressed with my 1.5tsi.
  2. You’re right; and I stand corrected. Selecting the radio player as the full screen app does indeed return when starting teh car again, with the favourites showing. I based my earlier reply on my initial experience of my Octy4 two years ago and meant many versions older infotainment s/ware without checking first 🙄 @TheWanderer - hope you’ve got yours working to your liking… Note to self - check what else is now soooo much better than in the earliest versions.
  3. By way of encouragement to some, but no doubt add to the frustration felt by @AllanDJ (sorry mate), today a 75 mile drive with a dismantled IKEA double bed frame & mattress in the back of my estate. No beeps or warnings from the rear seat sensors.
  4. I’m the same. Bought a physically small but high capacity USB-C stick but usually use Spotify and CarPlay. Voice control works well with the USB source though, probably better than it does with Spotify - mainly because it’s a play this or that rather than a ‘search for’ type request. Way off topic though! BTW, for the 8.5k miles I drove a 1.0 e-tec DSG I thought the “hideous DSG gear selector” was wonderful - so much so I wish my current manual ‘box was DSG. Next time…
  5. It’s very easy to become frustrated with the infotainment system in the Octy IV, and I had to fight hard not to! It’s things like this where a few familiar buttons are so easy to use! I had to work hard at the different ways of doing things, but after a wee while found it really quite useable. The voice control is pretty good, especially for radio stations and temperature, less so for navigation (or I haven’t learnt the syntax yet!)
  6. By radio station presets, are you referring to what they now call ‘Favorites’? I’ll assume so for now. Short answer is you can’t. (Or if it can be done I haven;’t found it, yet). Best I have come up with (as in how I find it easiest to operate) is to use the two buttons on the lower left hand spoke of the steering wheel to cycle through the Favorites. Works for me, but then I only have three in that list. Alternatively, a tap on the radio portion opens it full screen; then drag from the right (or was it the left, I can’t remember, sorry!) to display the favourites. The screen layout can be configured; a ‘touch and hold’ will bring up the edit screen. Multiple ‘Home’ screens can be created and the cells configured within each. You probably found most/all of this already anyway; if so, apologies for stating the bleeding obvious…
  7. Logged in OK this morning via the iOS app (last updated three days ago). Maybe restart your phone and try again.
  8. I'm curious! Could you attach a photo so we can better advise. Whilst my car isn't a hybrid so different considerations may apply, but I leave mine until only the final bar is lit up - and it turns red at this point (along with a beep and an orange fuel pump lit up, and the satinet asking if I want to navigate to a petrol station). In fact, I gave up counting the number of ways the car tells me to fill up - one of the funniest things about the car to honest, especially as I have been driving for 47 years and only once ran out of fuel in my first car (with a faulty gauge).
  9. Compared to when I bought my first new car 40 odd years ago I’m not too concerned, but out of habit I do still avoid long steady speed runs for the first couple of thousand miles. Sometimes change my route or periodically I’ll either reduce road speed or drop a gear or two to change the rpm for a few minutes.
  10. On my estate it is high up on the left side, just below the track for the retractable cover (and near the led light). As per photo from @TheUltraRunner
  11. So, within a couple of weeks of changing my key battery I got the alert again! This time I used a Panasonic battery. Still got the alert. Hmm… Decided to remove all my Wi-Fi/RF trackers (Apple AirTags) from things I might take in the car just in case they were crowding the air waves. No change. Removed battery from the key, cleaned all dust and debris from inside and cleaned the battery terminals with Craig Labs Deoxit D100L. No change. Frustrated now…
  12. hi John. It's probably a message from the infotainment system, to do with the privacy settings for your user. IIRC there are three or four levels, the most open sharing location with the primary user of the car so they can track where it is parked for example. It will also be sync'd with the Škoda servers I believe. I don't use Android Auto, but it could be that through it the phone is storing the car location when parked, which can be useful I guess, but also potential privacy issues (but the Google and Android probably know our every movement anyway!). That, I guess, could be changed in the Android control centre or settings screens. Hope that helps...
  13. I’ve never had need to try this, but I’d look to change the audio playback using the usual controls in the iPhone Control Centre (where you’d choose between the phone, Bluetooth speakers etc).
  14. Yep, that’s the setting in the Octavia too - which drifts my logic as well, especially as having an auto wipe when selecting reverse is actually quite useful on a wet night.
  15. Utterly bonkers that they can’t (won’t?) fix your cars when the same issue was fixed in mine nearly 18 months ago. Will be interesting to hear what DVSA &/or Trading Standards have to say.
  16. See where you're coming from, but perhaps a little harsh. I've carried loads of stuff in mine which wouldn't have fitted in the hatchback model. A totally flat load area, with rear seat backs folding properly level would be much better, but what I have is better than the hatch. How I miss my Dad's old Volvo 145...
  17. I read somewhere on this forum that the buttons on the keys are quite sensitive with, for example, the tailgate opening seemingly by itself whereas it seems the release button was accidentally pressed whilst the key was in a pocket. Could it be a similar thing in your case - perhaps the unlock button has some pressure on it as you approach the car? May explain the intermittent nature of your observations. Just a thought….
  18. Not sure I can offer any help solving this, but you've got me thinking. My wife drives my SEL FE once every proverbial blue moon and last time we had a similar issue. Didn't have the time to investigate and had forgotten about it since 🙄. I wonder if one or other of the major s/w updates has messed with the pairing. Seem to recall that after the last big update my key loaded my user and seat position OK but some of the settings had reverted to default. Might have to have a fiddle during the week....
  19. Could be very useful, thanks, especially at £9 a pair. I never even thought that these existed 🙄. Let us know how you get on with them. For example, what happens when moving the seat forward/backward or up/down?
  20. I just changed the battery in my key and noticed in the manual a step to reset the key. After removing the old battery, press a key button, then insert the new one. I assume this resets the alarm/alert.
  21. Yes, that makes a lot of sense, and is indeed what I did in my Mk2. However, in the Mk4, I can't tilt the seat squab forward (OK, haven't yet found a way of doing it). There is no mention of doing so in the user manual, just folding the backrest forward (after adjusting/removing the head rests). So, are the seat squabs designed to tilt forward in the Mk4 estate? I suspect not.
  22. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do my 1.5TSI.
  23. Took the words out of my mouth… erm… keyboard. If I were to switch from an O4 to Kodiaq it wouldn’t be for any of the reasons given by the OP; sole reason would be for the higher seat relative to the ground so my ageing back and knees don’t have to work so hard. I certainly don’t need to lug around the heavy third row of seats.
  24. I don’t think you can get notifications for unlocking, but you can fit location. Haven’t tried it, but might be worth a try, setting a tight geofence and move it.
  25. Spread through the very long kph/mph thread is the story of my car, but to cut a long story short, the key points… Bought it March ‘21, at 6 months old; was a dealer/demo car with <2500 miles on the clock. Covid meant minimal dealer contact. Within a week or so found that I couldn’t get the SatNav to display miles not the speedo to show KPH. The settings were there, could change them but had no effect. Go back to settings and it was back to Kms and MPH. Dealer checked for updates etc. No effect. Škoda UK eventually asked if I’d leave at the dealer for diagnostics, testing etc. and I’d get a loan car. I agreed, and had an OCTY4 1.0 e-TEC SE 1st Ed. estate loaner. Five months later (Sept ‘20) Škoda UK asked if I’d be happy for my car to be used as a ‘field trial’ of the fix; I agreed. The fix consisted of a new Virtual Dashboard (h/w replacement), coding in to the car, and some software updates. Fixed those two issues as well as the ACC ‘confusion’ of it detecting a vehicle in teh near side lane and preventing me from ‘undertaking’. Subsequent updates have sorted pretty much all other niggles; just two minor ones remaining. So, yes, a hardware swap may well be needed for your car too, and it can be done as demonstrated by fitment in my car. To address your question about wanting a 2020 car - I would have no qualms about buying my car in its current state; it has given me 21k miles in 16 months of very fuel-efficient and comfortable motoring. The loan car was 100% fault free, 8.5k miles in 5 months gave it a good workout. ’Twas the early cars that had the most problems (kind of understandable, but not really acceptable given the sheer number of them) but fixes are out there.
