  1. A couple of things come to mind (which you may well have looked at already)... IIRC the ignition has to be on for the satnav to function properly (not just the infotainment system on) could it be that the user permission locked down tightly preventing the cars position from being determined check the route guidance settings to make sure they haven't got some weird option selected preventing the route calculation (extreme example, trying to navigate to Paris when ferry routes are not permitted) check the system shows the correct current position and can display the destination OK drive to a car park somewhere nearby and try again
  2. I don’t get the two buttons in the app either. Chatting to my dealer a while back we reckoned its to do with the hardware/firmware/software versions in the car. I haven’t yet pursued it since a significant [firmware/software] update to my car last month.
  3. Thanks. A different noise to mine, and a good idea from @roottoot
  4. Interesting. Please can you describe the noise. I have a bit of a whine when the AC is working hard so assumed it was the AC unit - but could it be the belt/pulley I wonder.
  5. Google maps or Waze should appear on the central screen with android auto. It does with CarPlay. Also, since the latest update to the infotainment system, the directions from phone apps appear on the virtual cockpit as the built in satnav does.
  6. At least the dings aren't in any body panels... 😜 Sorry, not helpful I know - but I can imagine how annoying the errors must be. Hope you can get it sorted.
  7. I don't know for certain, but I'd be surprised if the Galaxy S22 Ultra would charge whilst sharing the port, especially if you'd be using it for streaming music or satnav (which seems likely as you mention using a cradle). The demand of 3/4/5G antenna, bluetooth/wifi link to car, Android Auto, GPS, data streaming, and the screen on will mean the phone is using a lot of power hence I suspect a shared port will be insufficient. I'd recommend using a dedicated port; I usually connect my iPhone XR to rear port and place it on the centre arm rest (which I rarely, if ever, use). It sits there face down, screen off, and everything I need to do on the phone is through CarPlay and Siri voice control.
  8. I'm not sure that there is a way to get YouTube on the the infotainment system. Nor can I see a way to include YouTube in CarPlay, maybe with Android Auto? Best I have come up with is to put videos on a USB-C memory stick and use on of the ports in the from console. Video playback is only available when the car is not in motion, but the soundtrack continues to play. Oddly, when stopped, however briefly, video is displayed again. And before anyone jumps to conclusions, I tested this on deserted private roads NOT the public highway. For music, I use Spotify &/or Apple Music via CarPlay, or the USB-C stick. I've not tried music from YouTube or Amazon Music.
  9. Yes, voice control can be turned off in the settings. Pretty sure it is saved in the user personalisation, hence works in one and not the other.
  10. IIRC the dealer has to validate you as a valid user of the car to authorise you as Primary User. I needed to provide proof of ownership, ID and address to the service dept. so the Master Technician could do it. Would like to think the selling dealer could do that without a return trip to the showroom/workshop.
  11. I thought this was something we just get, like it or not, and it can't be turned on or off. The manual implies that too... There is nothing about changing the settings.
  12. From memory the Škoda app login details have to match exactly the driver details which the dealer enters in to the system. Could be, for example, an optional part is missing from an address, something like a sub-district; alternatively a shortening/variation in the name, like Fred instead of Frederick.
  13. I think there is an App in the store - Traffication. I used an early version for a while but was terribly slow, so I just gave up. Hopefully others have found an easy option for this.
  14. Yep, mine took three days (1.5TSi SE L First Edition). I can foresee dealers building extensions to the workshops just so they can do these interminable system updates...
  15. Coming back towards the original topic, I was surprised over the weekend as to how much impact load and road type has on the fuel economy of my 1.5TSi. About 10-15% worse with four up and boot full on rural roads mix of single and dual carriageway compared to two on board and boot less full with predominantly motorway running. Are EVs and hybrids similarly impacted or does the energy recovery make up for some of it?
  16. So, given that Scotland is in the UK, why oh why, is the energy on the global market? No need to answer that, 'cos I know the answer; and that's about a close I'll get to a public rant about the state of the UK, UK politics, privatisation, and all that cr@p.
  17. So who is actually paying for "free charge"? No doubt I am contributing somehow 😡 - either through taxes (Gov't nominally pays) or Tesco prices (Tesco nominally pays) . All for the greater good... 🙄
  18. I’m not convinced the dealer is right either. My 2020 SEL First Edition was sat on 1668 until it’s service earlier this month when my dealer did a update - see my post in this thread of 3rd Sept. Now on 1896 and all working as it should. Based on my experience, the car you’re looking at ought to be able to go to 1896 too.
  19. Two possible solutions… … your niece changes her name 😉 or, more realistically, disable the ‘OK Laura’ feature in settings and use the steering wheel button to invoke it
  20. Yep. Likewise for Siri if using CarPlay. Voice control is better over time, it’s almost useful now 😉 No, to be fair, I find the Śkoda Laura pretty good for things like AC, heated seats and radio. Less reliable for setting a new satnav destination though. Guess it’s a case of learning it’s logic.
  21. Yes, I still the speed and distance unit settings - and they work fine (well, whilst sat on the drive at least). Since the trial fix they worked OK, prior to that didn’t have any effect whatsoever. Thanks. That may explain why it took three days to do mine.
  22. Well, this is frustrating… Had the car in for a service at 2yrs - they did an s/w update which took three days! So, I how have… Device part number now has H suffix (no suffix previously) S/w Version now 1896 (was 1668) However, many settings have been lost (set back to default)… Had to reconnect my phone to CarPlay All my SatNav favourites have gone Radio favourites have gone Mapping auto dim/ night mode reset and I don’t know what else yet… Just hoping that it hasn’t screwed ACC or kph/mph which were fixed a year ago. Here’s to an hour or so of going through all the menus looking for the many things I setup about 18 months ago… 😔
  23. Not so. I have a 202 SE L First Edition and High Beam Assist is not standard kit. IMHO, the Mk4 is a much nicer place to be than the Mk3s I looked at when changing. Fuel economy is notably better too.
  24. Found this in my digital manual…
  25. It’s through personalisation. Can’t remember how, but its buried somewhere in the manual.
