  1. Did the update fix it? And was it 5 hours? Had mine done a couple of weeks ago, the dealer booked it in for two days in case the update took a while. Was all done - less than 4 hours between drop off and a call to say its done. So far, no SOS errors…
  2. I noticed there was an update for my car the other day - something to do with the shop… Will go have a look when its updated. Please tell the new app is a self-clean function. 😉
  3. There is lots of detail in the main KPH/MPH thread, most usefully the latter pages. Link below. But to answer your questions… In settings I could select KPH as units for the speed, but it would only ever display MPH. Going back in to settings, it was again showing MPH. Conversely, with the SatNav, it would only display Kms, note miles. Again, in settings, I could select miles but it only ever displayed Kms. As for ACC, it would occasionally not let me overtake and would allow me to undertake. The dealer, arranged through Škoda UK, had my car for 20 weeks (yes, 20!) during which time various diagnostics were run and ‘the factory’ came up with a fix. My car was one of two test vehicles fitted with the replacement VC & s/w. Since fitting I have covered about 2000 miles; the selection of the units is now fully operational for both speed and SatNav, and the ACC has worked faultlessly since. The bulk of my mileage has been on motorway and dual carriageway and I use ACC a lot. As I mentioned in my previous post, I don’t have Travel Assist but it seems logical that issues are based in the same/similar s/w bugs. Škoda UK technical is probably the best place for your dealers to call. They know all about the fix applied to my car (and now several others that I know of).
  4. The replacement virtual cockpit h/a and s/w fixed both kph/mph and ACC in my car. I don’t have Travel Assist but it seems logical that it may fix that too.
  5. I understand it uses ACC and Lane Assist but adds in speed limit (road sign) awareness so automatically sets the cruise control. Don't have it on my car but sounds like a nice option... Found this in the e-manual... Maybe when the h/w fix was installed the Travel Assist needed to be re-enabled.
  6. Interesting. A different fix (or more extensive fix) to that applied to mine! Must be a configuration management nightmare! Anyway, hope it resolves the issues and you can relax & enjoy the car…
  7. Yeah, but... ... on the other hand, I had five months driving a loan car, with full warranty cover, breakdown cover, and put 8500 miles on it. As of now, my own car is just over 1yr old with only 5300 miles on the clock. In some ways having the loan car also did me the favour of one heck of an extended test drive in a DSG equipped Octavia Mk4 Estate; my next car will like be a DSG (or equivalent). OK, it didn't have all the bells and whistles that I'd paid for in my own and I am mighty glad I now have it back - I never knew how much I needed heated seats 😄 Really hope you get a resolution for your car soon...
  8. Do you have a case number? If so put that in the subject line, or the reg. number. Should help route it to the right person. Good luck…
  9. So pleased to hear that your cars have/are being updated @golfnut @Coume. We've each had a long, frustrating and tedious journey to get to this point; and paraphrasing what golfnut said - we can start to enjoy the car we bought. I'm certainly loving mine and a 100 mile round trip today enjoying the ride, enjoying the toys/gadgets (yes, even voice control!) and with everything doing what it should do - still gobsmacked by the economy from manual 1.5TSi (59 mpg today (M3 - M27 - A31 - minor roads; and back)). Interestingly I have found the Lane Assist to be less intrusive than I remember, and certainly less so than the loan SE FE spec car that I had for 5 months.
  10. @matrix2020 your car is NOT unique! There are quite a few others on this forum who have (or had) similar issues and I am one of them. My car also suffered the inability to change the SatNav units to Miles and the speedometer to KPH despite the settings options being available. A couple of months ago my car was fitted with a replacement component (virtual cockpit unit I believe) and some associated software - it was one of two vehicles selected to test the fix ‘in the wild’. Over the best part of 2000 miles since the fix the speedo & SatNav units are selectable as they ought to be and the ACC works fine and does what it is supposed to do in terms of overtaking, not undertaking and bringing me to a halt (albeit that bit is a tad pointless with a manual ‘box, only tried it to prove it works - best reason out there to get a DSG next time!) As yet I am uncertain if the fix is being rolled out more widely.
  11. Interesting conversation when at the dealers yesterday. Mine was in for a s/w update, but I commented on how few Octavia models they had (mostly Koroq, Kamic and a few Scala). Was told that Octavia models have at least a 36 week lead time and the launch of the facelift Fabia has been delayed a few months. Many cars are half built so they have ceased starting to build some models. Not a great time for the motor industry nor its customers…
  12. Interesting - thats a different Device part number to mine. I have 5E3035816 Hardware: H56 Software: 1668 The rest the same apart from the Navigation Database.
  13. Mine had a replacement Virtual Cockpit, the rest of the infotainment system is as it was originally, and the System Info number doesn’t have any revision suffix letter. I’m expecting a call with Škoda UK later in the week so will try to find out if or when the fix is being rolled out.
  14. Aside from meeting the VW specification (W508 00 I believe, for the 1.5tsi) what’s the best oil and seller? Would be easy to nip down to Halfords and buy a can of ‘xyz’ brand. But something tells me Castrol or Mobil 1 may be the better way to go. Suggestions/recommendations please… thanks.
  15. Yes, Yes, and dunno, never used it. S/ware is 1668 and Device Part No. does not have a suffix/revision letter Nav Db is 21.8
  16. I got in mine this morning, it came up with the Guest profile as it has for the last couple of days. I decided to try changing to my own and asked me to login (username/password) and hey presto! Seat moved, mirrors moved, temperatures set, etc. Presumably the servers are back up and running.
  17. whats wrong with pressing a button on the steering wheel and saying “I’m a bit cold”? but then, I prefer a knob to adjust too - and not all Octy4 have voice control… crazy world of tech for the sake of tech, or so it seems
  18. Today (25th Oct) my car won’t login as me - as in won’t load my profile, only as the Guest. If I try to change user it says the function is not available (or words to that effect). The car still works OK, other than some of the personalisation.
  19. That’s a bit of a b****r! Sorry but I’m now out of ideas; and got me wondering about when I upgrade my XR…
  20. The wireless charger I have is no longer available so no point me recommending that one! If I hadn’t been able to get it my next option would have been an Apple MagSafe compatible charger with a ring fitted inside my phone case - have a search on Amazon there are plenty of options to ponder… If I ever buy an iPhone12 or 13 I might be selling my current charger 😉
  21. The switch on the top of the indicator stalk is the only one I know of. Pushed fully towards the steering column turns off the CC, the other way should turn it on, with a sprung 'nudge' towards the column to disengage it in normal driving. Having said that, I seem to recall reading in another thread that following some s/w updates the CC was disabled because the whole system was reset (or some such). The Dealer had to re-enable CC. Tedious or what!?
  22. I've not run a diesel for a few years but from the experience I do have 18Km would not be enough to complete the cycle. More likely, the exhaust system has only just got hot enough to start the cycle. Try doing a run of about 40 - 50 Km, ideally at a steady speed 60+kph such as on a major road or motorway. That should clear it.
  23. I've just extended the services for mine with no problem. Logged in to Škoda Connect through my iMac browser and paid via PayPal rather than do it through the App or the car itself. There are two parts... Infotainment Online (map updates, traffic information, that type of stuff): £44 for 1 year Care Connect - Remote Access (driving data, honk & flash, parking position etc in the App): £36 for 1 year
  24. Nice one! Seems I gave up the hunt too soon... Thanks for sharing.
  25. To be fair, that is a bit harsh. There is progress, it is moved on, albeit not as much as many would like. My car has the trial fix implemented and it has resolved the KPH/MPH issue. The question remaining for many is when will the wider roll-out begin - but, as the fix involved a replacement virtual cockpit unit I guess it is delayed, in part, by the worldwide microprocessor shortage.
