Interior lights problem
Managed to get mine to the dealer this last couple of days. A Bluetooth update (for intermittent CarPlay reconnection) and more relevant here, an update for the interior lights. 25 mile drive late this afternoon and it seems ok - will be monitoring it over the next wee while.

No response to acceleration pedal
Twice in the same place - is that every time you go there? If so, take the dealer's senior technician to demonstrate the problem.

30.000 km Service: software update
Good to know, thanks for the update. The change in device part number suggests a hardware swap in the infotainment system as well as software updates. Have you noticed any difference?

DIRECT TPMS Question - Octavia Mk4
Not had any TPMS messages or warnings with the Octy 4 in 8000 miles. Had a few in my wife’s CityGo and hire cars of various brands - none of which were actually valid as all tyre pressures were fine. Hope they can sort your faulty system…

Skoda Connect app & web 🤦
@6nations just a thought. Are you registered as the Main User? (IIRC this involves the dealer verification). also services need to be activated through the infotainment system.

Back to Octavia
Good point/question! Mine is the SEL FE, and that is what I was referring to in that comment. The loan car I had for 20 weeks whilst the FE was being fixed was faultless - that was an SE FE, built several months later but with less of the [flakey - aka bug-ridden] technology such as ACC. Impression I get is that the later the build the more robust the tech - with the exception of those that seem to be missing the wifi module.

Back to Octavia
You’re right - though I would say that after 11 months of ownership (and a fair few updates) I am a lot more confident in the Mk4 than I was after 1 month.

Back to Octavia
Not in the same boat, but what about getting a 6 month old dealer demo car? It’s about now that most refresh their cars so should be a good supply (my local dealer has two, but the wrong end of the country!).

Roof bars - what do you have?
@MiniNinjaRob if you’ve been a loyal Thule user before, can you not change the feet/fitting for the bars you currently have?

Photographs of Past Cars...
And another, well nearly. Mine was a Singer Chamois - a dreadful little thing that I keep for only two weeks! Bought me a Triumph 1300 (FWD) which was absolute luxury by comparison. I later upgraded to an 1850cc Dolomite, for which, at the age of 19, the insurance cost more than the car! Learnt to drive in a Triumph Toledo 1300 (RWD) as the driving school decided a Mini would be too small (well, I am 6' 5" tall, but the funny thing is after the Dolomite I bought a Mini Clubman). Got some extra practice in my Dad's Volvo 145 (and I still aspire to a large Volvo Estate but can't really justify the extra ££££). Three generations of car owners (photo from early 1976). Reg number of my Grandfathers Morris Minor always seemed quite appropriate - Poor Old Joe 😂

Key Battery Dead...Already?
I've just received the wonderful 'Replace key battery' message today (car registered Sept '20, and done about 10k miles - so, not quite 18 months old). First car key battery I've ever had to change! If/when I change the batteries does the key-user association remain or do I have to redo it? Thanks.

Wireless Carplay not working
Yes, your dealer should be able to check if there are updates for your car. I say that because my dealer can for my car - speaking to the Service Manager about a couple of niggles the other day. He then spoke to the Master Technician who informed us that there are a couple of updates.

Raised Boot Floor
I've got the raised floor in my SEL 1st Ed; a loan SE 1st Ed I had for a while last year did not; both estate cars.. From memory the fittings to the side of the boot area are different. The side mouldings are really quite sturdy, as is the raised floor but the Owner Manual states a max load of 75Kg. I can't see a part number on the side mouldings, only a label on the boot floor. A few photos attached for your info. Hope it helps!

Can high beam assist be retro fitted to my 2021 Octavia SEL with front camera?
That's good to hear. How well does it work, and would you recommend it? Good thing I don't live anywhere near Lincoln then... 🤣

1.5 TSI EVO M/T - Range and Fuel tank capacity - 45 or 50l?
The most I have put in mine is 47ltr, and usually fill up (always first click) when ther would be a good 5ltr left in the tank based on the range that is left - 50-70 miles or 80-110Km (why, in the UK, do we drive in miles and buy fuel in Litres? Crazy!!) Based on that, it must be a 50ltr tank plus the pipe to the filler cap; maybe the 55ltr tank, but I doubt it. Mine is a 1.5TSI EVO 150bhp manual gearbox.

Traffication
Does anyone know if we can use voice control (Laura) to report road conditions with this? And if so, any idea what the key words are?

Apple wireless carplay
Welcome to your new car. Hope you enjoy it… Wireless CarPlay should work fine, it was designed to be that way. When I set up mine I didn’t bother with the Bluetooth connection first, rather went in to the Smartlink menu and selected CarPlay option (as opposed to Android Auto or Mirrorlink). The car then enabled the connections and I just followed the prompts. hope that helps!

octavia e-tec - Emergency breaking
Absolutely. Driving in a straight line, steady speed (ACC assisted) - but [seemingly] heading straight towards a parked car! I can understand the simple logic of the car - but that, I think, is the issue all [semi-]autonomous vehicles will face. Simple logic doesn’t work in the real world, which is way to nuanced.

octavia e-tec - Emergency breaking
I’ve experienced this a couple times and on each occasion it has been when I haven’t been providing any direct input. The first, and most obvious, occasion was when trundling along a dead straight road at 30mph with the ACC engaged approaching a parked car on my side, but with another car parked just short of it on the other side of the road. In effect I had a slalom gate to go through, perfectly OK at 30mph in my mind but the car obviously thought I was going to drive into the one parked on my side. It could be that your car is seeing a parked car in a similar way. Perhaps try tweaking the steering a little, or lift the throttle a touch just before the car thanks you’re in range. If the car detects you’re doing something then it might realise you’re in control and let you get on with it.

Driving on the right/Driving on the left
My car does not have the Matrix headlights, rather standard LED lights - and the dipped headlight pattern is definitely NOT flat. Back in March '21 when I bought it, and in the vain hope of a European road trip last summer I contacted the manufacturers of Eurolites about compatibility. I was assured that their adapters are compatible with the standard LEDs, and the latest instructions and info are on their website. Personally I would never travel in France without adapting the headlights, not only is it respectful of other drivers to do so, it would be far too complicated should I be stopped...

Interior lights problem
Mine is similar - except it is mostly the Drivers side light that comes on and off. This during the daytime as well as at night (which is when I notice it). A couple of evenings ago, manoeuvring out of a tight parking place each time I engaged reverse gear and the interior light came on; select 1st and it went off. First time I’ve noticed that, usually its totally random. Haven’t booked mine in yet, am interested to hear how it goes @Coume.

Answering a phone call
Don’t need to, use Siri to make the call. EDIT: just realised you’re in Slovenia, and you mentioned earlier that voice recognition isn’t great for you guys. Sorry.

Renewal of Skoda Connect , cant
Yeah, that seems a lot of money to not have to flick the stalk - nice to have, but not at that price! I declined it too.

AIUI, no it won’t. The traffic info in the Satnav is part of the Infotainment Online.
