And another one........

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Funny how things change isn't it ? For the last 3 years I have been the happy owner of a Primera GT. I always intended to sell it on after 3 years and get something similar, so I always had an eye on the Octy vRS as its replacement. Anyway a couple of weeks ago I went for a test drive, and whilst the handling and interior weren't quite up to my old GT, the performance (and most importantly the price :) ) overcame my slight doubts (and those ridiculous pale grey carpets ! ). Now it goes pear-shaped. Whilst at the dealers the rep asked me if I would like to give the Fabia vRS a spin, and whilst I had read a few reviews I didn't really believe that a diesel was for me. Wrong ! 5 mins in the Fabia and I couldn't stop smiling, I dont think I had so much fun in a car since my first one 20 yrs ago (yes, I may be ancient but my insurance is cheap ;) )

So, now I have a problem, do I go with the Octy, room for the kids, big boot, leather etc. Or do I go with the Furby and buy roof rails ? :D

Oh, I am recently registered but have been browsing here for a week or two. Nice site :)

Welcome MisterGT

If you go for the Octy, part of you will always wish you'd gone for the Fabia.

Why not go for another test drive in both and see what you think after that ?

And vice versa! :D

Whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed.

I agree with Jane, have another drive in both

180-220+bhp which will make it quicker than the primera I believe' date=' [/quote']

Primera only kicks out 150 bhp so standard Octy is quicker off the mark and through the gears. I have another test drive booked for both vRS's in a couple of weeks, and to be honest the only thing stopping me buying the Octy is the Furby :) . I will let you all know how I get on.

Plenty of people buying the Fabia atm it seems. Couple of new members a week currently.

Great standard cars, awesome when 'tweeked' :)

Welcome. Take your time, you dont want to make the wrong decision.

it's a credit to some of the members on this site how the above postings haven't gone down the same old 'furby vs octy' road - different cars for different needs, live and let live.

whichever you buy you'll be satisfied, and don't worry about the reliability aspect ,coming from a jap car - both of these babies score well in jd power(i think -not sure on the octy).

a big potential welcome to skoda-hood!

The fabia has more boot space than you think!!! But yes compared to the tavia..... You pay the money and take your choice remember the fabia is a lot cheaper on fuel!!!

But whatever you choose as long as its a Skoda your OK in our book ;)

OK then how about the curve ball............Octy with pd130?? The extra room and capacity, grunt of the pd130, and economy as well. Plus in L&K trim, full leather.

I was leaning towards the Fabia, but with the recently announced reductions on the Octy's, this is going to make my decision even more difficult. Damn ! ;)

Welcome to Briskoda. As loads have said before, take your time and choose carefully. You will enjoy either just as much, but I do have to say the Octy would be more practical with kids. ;)

Hi and Welcome!

a notherthought or 2 for you........I have an Octy RS and think it's great apart from one thing....the rear space.

Have 2 nippers which is ok for them now but space will get tight once they're older.

I imagine the rear space in the Furby is on par with the Octy....being a newer design...although it may be a little less due to it being a smaller car. Don't know rightly.

If you need to carry a lot of stuff then the Octy wins hands down.

Like I said just a few thoughts. ;)

You enjoy whatever you choose.

Welcome to Briskoda MisterGT. Looks like you have a hard choice on your hands. Good look.

Another thing to consider... you didnt like the colour of the capret in the octy no !?

You will have noticed that the seats in the Fabia are more or less entirely covered in this colour, now i can appreciate that you wont/shouldnt be putting your feet on the seats like you would the carpet but never the less its prone to getting dirty quickly.

TBH i didnt even consider the Fabia when i bought my octy vRS but then the only car i wanted when it came to change was the octy... it wouldnt have mattered if the Fabia had full leather.

Horses for courses i'm afraid.

welcome,

I've had by Furby vrs for two months and have loved every minute of it!! It's the best car that I have owned. It just gets better and better with mileage currently I'm just about to hit the 5k mark :D

At the end of the day test drive both and go for which one best suits you, for me the Octi was out of my price range and as there is just me and my other half there is no point in a big car.

to qoute a wise man above "Horses for courses"

Personally I'm really loving the wolf-in-sheeps-clothing that the Estate's image brings with it, plus the huge expanse of boot is so damn handy with kids buggies, shopping, coats, buckets, spades ... :)

Whichever you choose (I'm trying to get the missus interested in Fabia's for when we replace her aging Clio Automatic) I'm sure you'll have a blast :)

Well, after much soul searching and arguments with the missus over boot space and kitchen refurbishments I discovered that I wouldn't have enough money to buy a new vRS,either octy or furby :( ..............

So I have bought a second hand one :D

A 15 month old yellow octy with 12K on the clock which I collect on Friday

guess I may have to change my user name now :)

Congrats, you made a fine choice, though as they're both Skodas you couldn't really go wrong ;)

Excellent news - and another yellow one :D

nice one  . i've had both, first a silver octy vrs, now black fabia vrs,

love/loved both of them. in my opinion i can't split them. like the economy and torque of the furby, but i s'pose ultimate performance was the octy.

mind you i havn't tried a chipped furby yet.

waits for offers to come flooding in! :D

cheery pip,

jonno.
