:D I think the Fabia is a very good car but I appreciate that it is nowhere near perfect, especially in the handling department

Given the choice between my VRS and that saxo for a track day, I'd take the saxo every time. However for a daily driver, I'm happy with the VRS over pretty much any saxo :)

A good example is the new megane R26.R. 120Kg lighter than the stock R26, softer springs, revalved dampers, no power increase and they say its 1seconds per km round a track faster than a R26. Tick the R888 option and they say that increases to 2 sec per km.

Actually i'd say the quaife diff would probably give you the single biggest gain. Cost wise stripping it more cost effective though.

A standard powered Saxo/Gti with a quaife will be faster round a technical track than a cammed (160bhp) gti IMO. Having driven the inner ring at Rockingham which is quite twisty I can appreciate HOW much of a difference this mod can make. I was chasing a Saxo fitted with one... on the corners it pulled away scarily fast.

I would expect that too. My logic about it all it. If the tyres provide enough grip to get traction then were's the need for a fancy diff? Or am I looking at it wrong?

Totally. Remove your rears seats and spare, and fit some decent rubber. Removing the rear seats balances the car a little too (With the spare these weigh over 60kg!!!), I found it helped a lot on trackdays and was quite fun to get the rear opposite wheel off the floor!

the less weight and tyres will be better than a diff on a dry track... if it rains the car with the diff will probably "pwn" you - (if the driver has the balls)

The car is already light and loosing the back seats, spare (didn’t keep one in the car anyway) and some trim doesn't make a HUGE difference as that was what I was running with new 300mile bedded in yoko's. Ok the car was a little faster but not hugely. My car probably went from 930 to 900kg's if that. Peugeots are not made out of as heavy stuff as skoda's Trust me your talking about things in PRACTICE i'm talking about things in REAL life :)

Do you get more overseer with a LSD? I know its not the same but on froza you can almost get a well set up FWD car with an LSD to drift round corners.

Before going for the VRS I was going to get a Teg DC5 (bit of a change I know). This is still on the cars for in 3 years when my annual mileage will drop. That is one RAPID FWD car.

my skoda's going to have more than that :D and mines nothing compared to some of the cars on here, eddy's must have been over 300/ton

My car is totally stripped, as a result even more nose heavy. You just adapt your driving to suit the car - not the car to suit you ;)

I don't feel the need for a diff myself, good rubber and big cherries with the all eibach setup and jabba arb and minus ALOT of wieght = adequate :), unless face with a Megane F1 on roundabouts :(

If I stay in the UK, and keep the car, battery will be relocated to the boot, and A/C will be coming off to try and help the nose wieght.

Rear seat are more from the middle of the car but I see your point. The car is front heavy and as standard will understeer. With a Rarb and less weight in the back makes the backend a little more live resulting in a car that can actually be drifted with accuracy.

I am not sure why but I can guarentee that it works and makes for a real sweet handling car.

Oh - don't get me wrong - it's more lively empty, and quicker - alot quicker, but handling is better - ie it feels more poised when loaded up, and more settled. I like twitch/lairy though. It's much more fun.

Not that many of you n00bs were around back in the days of brisky@brunters... but especially the 2nd one which was a joint brisky/old school trackday was a riot..

Cossie powered mark2 escorts aside, there were alot of track-prepped bangers.. most notable for me being a XR2, stripped and caged. at the peak of my furby's modded-ness (everything bar a big turbo) it was absolutely raping said xr2 on the straights, but the xr2 utterly raped me on braking and cornering.. i was holding him up on the corners and he was holding me up on the straights...

same goes for Redbaron vs whitelightning... the supra had almost 3 times the power to the octy.. but the 'baron.. stripped and on slicks was carrying far more speed through the corners.

so, light cars+slicks FTW :D

oh definitly, yours would be awesome in the corners :D
