alrite guys great day yeasterday, and the power off des car is awsome!!!

(Beretta) i found out bout the chip today from the power2go people at motorsportross!!! and it was a chip from IP themselfs back in 2006 they supplied the chip but the car didnt get rollingroad after, it was just fitted, but they said at the time it had a CAI on.

they gave me details that its a stage 1 and when i told him how it ran he said that was right, is that ok??

can i extend on this chip? i wish i hung around now so they could tweek it.

so even though IP rr'd it yeasterday dont think thety realised it was one of there chips.

hope this helps its answered some questions for me!!

but still had a great day,

thanxs again guys

If it goes back a while then it was probably one of the Upsolute (Sp) chips they used to do.

Have a word with Mike at IP and let him know what you have found out and be guided by him.

I always miss that turn off (even in the daylight) :P

Perhaps you should have gone to "SPECSAVERS"..:rofl::rofl:

(Private Joke I am sure Andy will appreciate):P

Didn't the actually standard Fabia make 130bhp??

Yeah, Daz's Silver one made 134bhp (AZT engine) so pretty much bang on.

Which makes me believe those that made 150+ were anything other than "standard" ;)

I think I may be trying to track down the previous owner to see what they had done...

If they were hauling around vending machine supplies (and possibly towing) as you mentioned on Saturday I reckon they had it remapped for higher torque. It might even be an old IP remap on there as the car was from Sherlodge Garage and spent all its life in the Medway area... IP were based up there until recently. Will be interesting to see what you find out and how they get on remapping it on Friday.

Must be quite fun to drive at the moment - smooth standard power and a great big slab of 230lbft torque!

@ TomVRS, an extra 27bhp over standard with just a 325 inlet and performance filter was frickin' amazing :) bet you're happy about that!

Its not a performance filter, just a new BMW replacement paper one as the old one was minging. ;)

The throttle body has been machined too.

But yes, as anyone would have seen at Marlin or IP - VERY VERY pleased!!:thumbup::D:D

im sure the guys with the fabia's had them remaped... thats what they where talking about when they ran. the red one had one from ip i believe..

great day cant wait to join the octavia crowd now!!!!

well i can say for sure, chris`s is 100% std, and he has had it from new

Looks like a good turn out, if i wasnt for the needing to leave so early, and me being on a midnight later in the day, id have been there, i wouldnt mine know how far i am behind chris lol.

I've always enjoyed the drive, but its missing that surge above 4000 as I now know it's not making any power there worth talking (torque'ing?! - sorry, I'll get my coat) about - only increases by 10bhp above 4000 compared to the 40+bhp increase of the standard car! Torque has a big peak but it drops away instantly - the std car curves are much flatter. Cheers for those graphs Ant and Bertee, much appreciated.

Still, had a great day and love the car anyway - but can't wait to get it properly sorted out!! :D:D

I had a great day out there as well. Many thanks to all who organized it and to the guys at IP.

Was very impressed with my 2.0tdi 140 putting out 196bhp! totally standard. Shame the next 2 runs were a megre 153bhp & only 207lbft torque.

Note they couldn't do a 100% run as the DSG would kick down, so maybe there is even more there.

With that sort of power as standard, makes me wonder if it is worth getting it remapped.

Yeah it was a tricky one to get going. Possibly a few more horses but don't get too excited.

196bhp, wonder what mine would have got if they'd done the run down losses in gear :P

Managed to speak to the previous owner of my car - he had a std stage 1 remap by Impossible performance in about July 2005, a few months after it was new! So it wasn't detuned or anything.

I'm back up at Mike's on Friday so let's hope it is an air loss somewhere, as he thinks currently, and is quickly repaired so I can get the map back to the fully deserving 'fun' mode. 220bhp is far more desirable than 167!!

I was down to spectate, but unfortunatly a could'nt make it, wish I had now reading the reports! Does anyone know if the offer is still available for the generic remap?

How did you guys with standard cars find it?

how come a FWD octavia with the 5 speed transmission is showing 36bhp loses on this dyno where on awesome's dyno an S3 running AWD and the 6 speed box was only showing 25-30bhp losses

why doesn't everyone just forgot even trying to "create" flywheel figures as they are nothing but a guess :thumbdwn:

I do think Ben that they are calibrated in such a way for flywheel figures to be accurate rather than the at the wheels figures. Just a suspicion, and agree that all readings to be taken with a pinch of salt :P

£30 to find out mine was making a bit more than standard, yet is totally standard, was well worth it.

I also found it's not making as much peak boost as the other standard ones and the boost flutters up and down between 2500-3000rpm so not sure if that's a faulty wastegate, actuator or vacuum hose or something

I'm in midst of having a remap off std but having other problems (see other posts in thread!) I'm back there Friday so will ask him what price he can do you. Don't think my car is typical!! :orb_duh:

but the wheel figures are the only ones that can be measured.

John,

keep us posted, I may have gone for the remap if only it wasnt so late when the last car for the rollers run.

The flywheel figures must have been fairly accurate. Standard MK1 octy vRS's were making around 184BHP, same with standard furby vRS's making just over 130BHP.

Even the best rolling road dynos are a guess. My car ran 152.8bhp and 116lb/ft torque on Saturday, with 49bhp correction for transmission loss. However, last time it was run (at Engine Advantages) it ran 157.8bhp and 131lb/ft with 32bhp for transmission losses. The figures would suggest that the exhaust I fitted in between the two runs has cost me a lot of power. On this basis, my car should be heaps slower than before I changed exhausts. In the real world, the car is measurably quicker against the stopwatch in 3rd and 4th (the gears I use of "road dyno" testing) through all the 20mph increments than it was before the exhaust was fitted. Further, the stock car has 138bhp and does 0-60 in around 7.2 seconds one up with a determined pilot. Given that I have hit 60 in 6.2 one up (and could go quicker if I wanted to be brutal with the launch), it seems that the figures I got are mostly meaningless.

If you want proper accuracy, you go for a coupled mass dyno, instead of a brake system job. You hook it up to the flywheel and run it directly.

Where a rolling road is useful is in the before and after assessment while tuning. Also, for days like this, a plot showing the torque curve is very useful after a change of hardware. I would never take the figures as absolute though.

Chris

completely agree there

which car are we talking about here with your figures?

completely agree there

'Twas the MR2.
