Brisky Ring Trip 2009 is GO!!

Featured Replies

As long as we're all at the first services on the motorway out of France, just inside Belgium, by 9.30am, all is good.

Called something similar to Middlekerke IIRC.

:D:thumbup: Welcome aboard! Do you know which car you're bringing yet?

Jason, got the mag from Asda, no worries. Thanks for the reminder ;)

How do , we are definitly taking the Leon Cupra R. 225 APR Stage 2, so that should be entertaining.

Also got Redline, some interesting info in there. Makes you realise there is some serious tuning going on out there.

Yep, but all the tuning in the world can't make up for good knowledge of the circuit.

Should be! I was hoping to see the 205, that sounds like a bit of a beast! :D Had a few 205's back in the day!

I was suprised to see that the Redliners rated VRS's, how things have changed!

Edited by postmanpat

I can see the streets being filled with chavs in vRS's now

Like I said before Jamie........there's no pretty pictures to go with the info so I doubt it! :P

Yep, got two pugs, One purely for the track and one with a few more luxuries...

Nice! There's an Mi-16 converted one I walk past on my way to work every day, and a mint condition 1.9 GTi. They still sell for a pretty penny!

Keep in topic eh?! :P

I'm assuming that Xav & Jomo are being / have been reimbursed, as I'm not getting involved in that side of things myself. :)

Just reading back through the old thread, what are the sleeping arrangements and what bedding do we need. Ie Single /Double, Pillows etc- (There not pillows , classic film line)

Pretty sure everyone will need to bring a single bed cover, and single duvet/pillow sheets. :) It was something like 30 euros for them to provide sheets so decided to tick off that option. Also, I recommend at least 4 us each bring a loo-roll, and everyone bring a towel (hand and shower I reckon) Aside from that, I believe they provide everything, including a fridge to keep those beers warm. :dtp: ;)

Hi guys i'm Keith from SCN affectionately known as Pops.:)

I will be bringing 4 loo roll myself as Phil we be driving my beloved LCR:eek:, looking forward to meeting you guys and the trip.

I'm the one that lives in Manchester I will be setting off about 5:30 pm on the Thursday night and will be picking Phil up in Stoke on the way if anyone wants to convoy with us let me know.

On monday the 21st of september there is an official Skoda drivers training at the Nürburgring. Starts off at one of the ADAC centers and in the afternoon training will be on the Grand Prix course.

I know at least 3 VRS octavias will be there (from our german board). I am one of them. :D

Cool!

There are only 2 Skodas going on the trip now... and me and Si have got to leave just after lunch as our ferry back is at 6pm, but if Jasons ferry isn't too early he might be up for the driver training

Not paying 350 euros for that! :) Plus, as said, the ferry is calling so we'll need to leave around 1pm from Nurburg area. The only thing I plan to do Monday morning is go visit the castle that overlooks the whole area, maybe some arty photos from the viewing points around the track. Nothing is really on that day so just a relaxing come-down following the weekend. :)

Yep - Not sure if anyone wants the latest plans, but here's the general idea

Alex & Abi are going on the 17th, and staying in a hotel, meeting us at the first Belgian services around 9.30

Keith & Empi are getting the 2am ferry along with myself & Colin - plan to meet at M25 services around 11.30/midnight - Head to services in Belgium and get some ZZZs from 6am to 10am

Beryl & Chickenbrow are getting a later ferry Friday and also meeting us at 10am'ish.

Leave Belgium around 10am, or as close as possible. :)

Arrive at the Ring around 2pm, traffic permitting, I need to drop into someone off Northloop to buy a couple of cheap laps, then on to the Ring. :) Buy laps, and I will probably do a couple of sighting laps, despite being fully laden with travel stuff. (TF from 2.15pm)

Whenever, we can head off to the Cabin and book in / settle in.

At some point, we'll take a trip to Lidl to grab some beers. ;) - Probably on the way from the Ring to the Cabin as we go past it

Friday night, we'll attempt to book into the restaurant that is just a 10 minute walk from the cabin, in Gunderath. Last time we were there we had some good grub, and the beer is good too. ;)

Saturday morning. Myself and Alex will be doing a "ringwalk" tuition session being offered by the local motorsport training company, RSR. Sadly no-one else can come on this as it's being laid on as a freebie to Northloop. There's the option of using center parcs facilities, or watching the classic car nurburgring action from a viewing point.

TF on saturday afternoon from 1.30pm. I aim to do around 8 laps before 7.30pm.

Saturday night, there is a meal booked in the Pistenklause at 8pm. We can either head back to the cabin and come back, or I think it would simply be easier if we all drove to PK from the Ring, have a good meal, but no drink, then head back to the cabin for copious amounts of alcohol.

Sunday, hangover permitting, TF starts at 8am and I would like to get in some early laps. I hope to be doing about 12 to 14 laps on this day. TF finishes at 7.30 so then we'll head back to the cabin, more copious amounts of beer, and I recommend some DIY cooking done in the cabin, maybe a BBQ depending on the weather. :)

Monday morning, relaxed start, pack/check out the cabin, head over to the Nurburg castle, be tourists for the morning, leave around 12noon to catch the 4pm ferry back to the UK. :)

Sounds good to me.........

Mate of mine is looking at taking a transit flat-bed recovery truck over in case the group he's with have a breakdown. I'll try and find out if it's for definate as it could save the 200 euro ADAC bill if you break down on the Ring and he can get out to you before the ADAC man does
