Brisky Ring Trip 2009 is GO!!

Featured Replies

Recovery from the ring by anything other than the official breakdown company and safety car is not tollerated and could well land you with a permanent ban from the ring. Its due to the safety aspects, as trying to load a broken down car onto a flatbed with cars driving by at 100mph+ is very dangerous especially if close to the racing line. If you breakdown pull over as close to the barrier and from the racing line as possible, walk up the track and start warning other drivers of the problem ahead, phone the ring office (store number on mobile) and await recovery and safety car.

How are people doing with the money side of things here.. are you just going to spend on your credit/debit card or are you getting euros in advance?

I am getting some euros, mainly just for food & drink from Lidl and the 2 meals out & some laps I am buying. Won't be any more than £100 worth of euros though. You can buy lap tickets on plastic now. Fuel can go on plastic too.

Like Jason I'll probably take some Euros for the meals out and supermarket. reckon about 100 euros.

Everything else has been paid for already.

I'm guessing Simon will fill the Octy up in the UK with some of my UK money but will probably need another tankful while we're out there but that can be paid for on a card.

I may be taking euros for the full lot, both plastics of mine have silly roaming charges on them... almost adds up to 10%

Well - I am aiming for the meal on both nights to be more about getting some good grub and less about the beers, as the beers can be had from Lidl at good value, and be consumed in the comfort of the cabin when driving is not an issue.

I would very much doubt the 2 meals out, a bit of currywurst, and some beers from Lidls will come to more than 100 euros. Oh, and tag on fuel and laps if vetoing plastic altogether.

Well, I was considering leaving here with the fuel light on & getting Jason to tow us in from the meeting point!.....:cool::rofl:

Or maybe I'll just give Beryl her energy drink on Thursday evening so all we have to do is load and go, gettin close now folks!! :)

Hey Mr Neo_VR, has your PM facility broken? Lol ;)

I am getting a full tank from the Belgian services where we're all meeting in the morning. Looks like prices are around 1.08 euros at the moment so roughly £1 a litre. Not much cheaper than the UK but a bit. Plenty of Millers too to counter the effects of their extra biodiesel put in.

Try to get a tankfull of Belgian diesel before you leave Belgium. It is cheaper than in Germany, especially the Excellium or V-Power diesels.

Normal gasoline is cheaper in Germany.

We can share tomtom favourites when we meet on the M25, Col? I have put in the Ring entrance, the pistenklause restaurant and the Centre Parcs where we're all staying.

If you fancy DIY'ing it - The PK is at "kirchweg 4" in Nurburg town very close to the GP circuit

The center parcs is in "Gunderath" - long straight coming in to the village from the west, and there's a left turn to a windy lane which goes up to the cabins.

The Ring entrance is a little more difficult to describe, but "nurburgring" is on Tomtom as a road so knowledge of the circuit leads you to the roundabout by the entrance.

What about the mazda ones

You're lucky actually - theres a Mazda specialist (though not main dealer) in Adenau

Autohaus Bodmer

Trierer Str. 5

53518 Adenau, Germany

We have something like a 40 minute drive if we want any VAG Parts!

Come on, optimism please! We WON'T need any vag parts whilst there! :D (or Spazda)

To aid the anticipation and ring build up, get yourself to your local newsagent and purchase this months copy of Redline magazine - its the 'Ring edition' with full circuit guide and plenty of info for you. Enjoy the trip! I still havent posted up my videos and pics from my trip last month but will get round to it soon

don;t forget redline has a free lap voucher on the front cover.

Services: LINKY ---> Clacket Lane Services at Motorway Services Info

Clackett Lane services between junctions 5 and 6 on the south side of the M25. I assume you and Empi5scn will end up doing M6/M40/M25 anti clockwise? If you're doing M1 then clockwise M25, we'll have to meet up at Maidstone services on the M20 - LINKY ---> Maidstone Services at Motorway Services Info

I'm also a bit gutted that I couldn't find a hi-viz this morning, and forced to pay a visit to the local Halfrauds and pay £7.50! I only paid £2 each from tesco when I got them before. :(
