RNS510/Columbus - Dual to single antenna adaptor

Featured Replies

For those of you without a diversity aerial and are retro-fitting an RNS510/Columbus this little cable may come in useful.

KUFATEC GmbH - VW Antennenadapter - Verteiler - FAKRA 36928

This allows you to connect both antenna connectors on the back of your device to the single aerial you have in your car.

Group Buy Information:

I have not got a special price on this cable (I have dropped the supplier a line asking about discounts - have to wait and see).

At the time I write this the cable costs 24€ which is around £20.50

However I am attempting to save on delivery by purchasing these all at the same time and thus splitting the 15€ delivery between whoever wants to take part.

So, what will it cost me?

If I can get a total of 10 people interested, the cost is going to be approx.

£20.50 - Cable

£1 - Your contribution to delivery from Germany

£1 - Postage from me to you

So shouldn't come to more than around £22.50 all in.

I'd like to get at least 10 people together, but we'll just see how it goes.

So if you're interested (No, you aren't committed at this point) please list your name below.

When it comes to payment I can accept Paypal or Bank Transfer.

I have emailed kufatec to confirm compatibilty, I'll post up the reply when/if I get it.

I have the reply from Kufatec, straight copy/paste.

Dear Manny,

we have never done the fitting on an Octavia yet. We can not offer and guarranty the functionality of the radio signal.

Thank you for your request.

Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

Kind regards,

KUFATEC Support Team

So we are on our own if we go ahead.

For £25 its not too much to risk :D

I don't think you'll have a problem with that, it's simply splitting the signal to the two connectors. Looks like an ideal solution for a good price.

Yeah, but what are the electronics in the black box doing on the skodateile.cz equivilent? Hopefully we'll find out.

I've fired off an email asking the same question - so hopefully one of us will get an answer.

I'd hate to get a few people interested, get these bought in and then find it doesn't do what we want it to do - I can't see any reason why it won't....

Hello. Do you know what the electronics in the black box on the dual antenna adapter you sell (http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=148&menu=%A9koda%7COctavia%20II%28A5%29%7CAnt%E9ny%20a%20kabely) are for? That part is 3x as expensive as the simpler Kufatec version which is just a simple cable (http://www.kufatec.de/shop/images/product_images/popup_images/1396_0.jpg).

Hi

I sell Duální anténa = frequency switch with amplifier -original part!! -best reception congestion signal

best regards

That's cleared that up then. :)

:)

I too have just spoken to our friends at Skodateile.cz about a possible discount on the "fancy" unit they sell.

Basically I've been offered 15 delivered for 1100€

So with a bit of conversion - if 15 people wanted to go for this device rather than the cable we're looking at £64 per unit delivered to me.

Then £1 for me to send them out - £65 delivered.

Obviously a lot more expensive than the cable option.

Also at £65 per unit I'd want some definite commitment to buy before I make the purchase - but I need 15 to get that price.

So - for those interested in this, we've got two choices.

1. The cable option - Still not 100% sure it will do what we want, but no reason it won't.

Need at least 10 buyers and price will be approx. £22.50 delivered.

2. The "magic box" option (www.skodateile.cz)

Looks like it will definitely do the job.

Need at least 15 buyers and price will be approx. £65 delivered.

Opinions?

I cant really justify the box of tricks, and still willing to take a gamble on the cable.

I'd be willing to take a punt on the cable option - thanks for looking into it Stoofa

Aye, the box of tricks is just too much.

Before a GB we'd really need someone to test that the cable actually does what it is thought.

I'm personally with Carl on this - £25 is not the end of the world if it doesn't do the job, and it's not something I'm so desperate to have to spend £65 on it, so that's not an option.

The only issue with this idea is that the P&P to the UK on a single cable is almost as much as the cable, however for multiple cables its a tiny percentage.

I suspect the CZ cable has some passive AM / FM filtering in it, rather than the FAKRA cable being a straight splitter. Both are expensive for what you get in material terms, but if it works.....

Also, has anyone here retrofitted a GPS combo aerial after putting in a RNS510? My RNS510 kindly fitted by Stu about a year or more back has started playing silly sods with consistant satellite reception i.e. it knows theres 8-10 out there, but can only lock the signal from 0-5 at any one time. alot on the time not even getting a 2-D fix.

Thoughts?

I've been away for the weekend so I'm just playing catch-up on this thread now.

The "box of tricks" although doing exactly what we want it to do, is expensive and I need 15 people to get the lower price anyway.

So it really leaves us down to the cable.

I can order that at any number - obviously the more people who want one the lower the overall cost (slightly).

As per the rules of this part of the forums I guess I should put an end date and then ask for definite numbers, which I'll confirm at the end and then get an order placed.

The only thing is, I'm in the same boat as you all - we are taking a punt and we could each get a cable and find that it doesn't do what we want.

I doubt I can get any returns if they don't work so I'm asking that you don't all come back to me for a return if it turns out these don't do as expected!

So please bare that in mind while you decide if you want to go for it or not.

I am actually away next weekend as well, so I'll put an end date of this GB of:

Monday 24th August

This is the day I get back and I'll PM everyone who has shown an interest and get some definite figures.

I am away then but still willing to take a punt with the cable.
