Diesel Fabia

Featured Replies

Given that the Fabia was originally billed as Felicia MK2, and that the 1,9 diesel engine is the same engine as in the Felicia 1.9D only with a turbo fitted, how do you feel your Fabia vRS stacks up against other 'hot' super minis?

Are you sure? :rubchin:

cylinder capacity is exactly the same, so I doubt if it is really a nwe engine, just a few extra twidly bits added :).

Quite possibly the same block, but if it uses the high-pressure injectors rather than common rail then it's a bit of a difference!

No disrepect to Felicia driver, but the Fabia is in a different league.

1.9D & 130 PD TDI are different engines altogether. It might share the same bottom end, but that's it.

It's a wind up right?

My wifes last car was a Felicia 1.9D GLi and her current car is a Fabia TDi.

The leap in solidity, build quality, noise, vibration and harshness is amazing.

Remember the Felicia had some of its roots in the Favorit while the Fabia shares it's platform with the new Polo.

The 1.9 Diesel lump has a long past but if it's still good enough for the Audi A4 and A6 I think it's good enough for the Fabia. :)

They are indeed different classes all together. The Felicia has an old, crude diesel engine where the Fabia used the PD lump which is one of the best on the market at the moment. ;)

Felicia uses the old VAG indirect injection engine, complete with swirl chambers. Fabia uses direct injection with unit injectors or more commonly know and pd engines.

But then, you seem to have a thing for trying to bait the Fabia owners so this doesnt surprise me...you being a cheap-Golf owning driver.

William I might just have to seek out your taxi just to smoke it.......

well brains, even the SDI fabia and non pd diesel engines are different from the Felicia 1.9d as they use the common rail direct injection over the indirect injection used in the fabia mk1 (Or felicia mk2 as you may like to call it as the mk1 was built in the 60's and was a convertible)

you are really getting tiresome about your Fabia bashing William so I suggest an old saying: If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all.

Rooboy, can you not recognise a wind up when you see it? Yes the injection is different but the engine is the same, all the 1.9 diesel engines are the same with various methods of getting the fuel into them.

That's really not a sign that an engine hasn't changed.

There are many, many cases of a basic block being used and developed to produce a more powerful motor.

By your logic, the 60's Lotus F1 cars used Hillman Imp engines, and the 80's BMW F1 cars used knackered, 100,000 mile engines from saloon cars (actually they did, but that's another story).

And car names are meaningless. Toyota have been calling cars 'Corolla' since before the wheel was invented, and I've seen quite a few Minis kicking round that look suspiciously large and German...

This thread was posted as a joke. Let me explain: I sometimes refer to the Fabia as a MK2 Felicia, because that was originally what Skoda was going to call it. I bought my first Skoda Felicia in September 97. I moved job and city in January 1998. I went to the Skoda UK web page in 98 to try and locate my local Skoda dealer as my car was due a service. The web page had a whole section dealing with the launch of the Octavia in the UK and the face lift of the Felicia to make it look more like the Octavia. In addition to it having pictures of the face lifted Felicia it also had pictures of what it called the MK2 Felicia, due out in 99 or 00. That car was the same shape etc as the Fabia! Therefore the Fabia was originally to be called the Felicia just as the new Octy is still called Octavia. I dare say some one took the decision to try and sever the new car from the Felicia because the Felicia while being a great car was still seen as being a budget basic car with old technology. Personally I would have preferred the Fabia to have been called Felicia.

I have nothing against the Fabia, I almost bought one when they came out in 2000, and I encouraged my Dad to swap hi 96 Felicia for one a few months back.

I was only joking you lot of Fabia drivers - lighten up ;)

can you not recognise a troll when you see it?

Yes.

Ah mis quoting again Dr Zoidberg. I am not a Troll. I think that winding up Fabia drivers is fair enough sport, and most of them take it as it was intended. Either Rooboy is having an off day or he is in need of a humour transplant (as perhaps are you).

PS I seen a photo of a guy who had had his lower jaw shot away, who looked very like your picture :).

Wouldn't it be better to trade insults via PM than give other members the wrong impression?

I like to think Skoda changed the name from "Felicia", because the name bears more than a striking resemblance to a specific sexual act...

And therefore called it the Fabia which bears more than a striking resemblance to.... :D

Oh! I see!

Did you know that it's conventional for jokes to be funny?

William, sometimes you don't make things easy for yourself.

In another thread elsewhere you are seeking members' unbiased advice about a Jaguar. In here you're trying (successfully) to wind up Fabia drivers. How many of them do you think will want to help you out in your other thread now ... ? :rubchin:

Nick, I do like a good wind up, I hold my hands up and admit it. I am not however malicious in intent, and I hope that most can see that I am not trying to be nasty in any way.

can someone explain that joke to me...............I'm being extra thick and slow today! :D

Ask your dad! :D

It also appears they missed the boat on registering the .com domain name for it to. And no, I wouldn't recommend trying it in work... :D
