  • Although dealers may indeed give differing stories as to build dates and arrival at dealer there is a mitigating reason for this. Two cars may be built on the same day and trained upto Emden together

Did i miss it or does anyone know when the computers for the delivery thingy get turned off? how long for? and is the factory still churning cars out while the delivery systems on shut down how long it will take to catch up?

not sure if someone has already posted that but i missed it if they did

Here you go.

My TSI vRS estate (built 19th October) is there too, waiting for a boat to Sheerness. One thing my dealer mentioned though, is that between 13th and 19th November there will be NO movement of Skodas anywhere due to a new stock tracking system being introduced (?!). I have no reason to doubt him as he sems quite well informed.

So, even if our cars are in this country (at Sheerness) during that week, they won't be going anywhere! That would be especially frustrating for me as the port is about a 20 min drive away :(

With any luck though they'll be through the port and at the dealers by the 13th.

Picked up my new VRS diesel this morming :D

Only ordered on 16th Oct but my dealer found me a Race Blue one built week 42 which was a cancelled order & did a swap for something else with the other dealer. Didn't have Maxidot that I would have liked but meant I have it now & got much better price for my p/x. When I look at some of the waiting times seems the right choice.

Just want to say what an improvement on my old car ( 56plate VRS tdi) - Smoother, quieter & much more refined..

Really is a brilliant bit of kit & I have only done 50 mls. Can't wait to get a few more miles on it.

Ordered my 1.4 TSI Elegance estate 3rd Sept, got a phone call on 1st Nov from dealer saying they'd got the car, he was surprised it had turned up early. I had been quoted 12 weeks, dealer says cars are coming through faster now.

Hmm, mine was built week 42 too, so it should be getting close. Need it before the 13th :o !!

:bigcry: I'm jealous! My bog standard 1.4 tsi hatch was ordered on 5 September, built on 20th Oct (early week 43) and I'm still waiting to hear anything more than that it's in Emden (N Germany)!!

Need it before the 13th :o !!

Me too!!!!

My vRS Estate must be in with your cars. Ordered first week Sept, was told build week was 19th and that its built. Its a petrol DSG with everything except SatNav, leather and MDI!

Yes they should all be together (if there is any sense in the whole thing ).

Mine was built 19/10 (so week 43 actually, not 42 - sorry). I rang the dealer on Monday and he said the system was showing that it had left Germany and was on the boat. Said he was going to do his best to get it to me before the 13th if at all possible.

BTW dealer is Caffyns in Ashford (Kent), who have been excellent so far on price, trade in and communication.

Update! It's in the country and they are going to try to get it to the dealers by the end of the week.

No doubt the computer system thing is most inconvenient for them. But if it pushes through my delivery by a bit I shan't complain!

Of course, no point in counting chickens and all that .. I should know more on Wednesday. Then I can start getting excited!

Mine's here too :)

As long as the dealer has the cover note by Thursday (he will!) he can get it taxed and it will beat the 13th November cut off date for no movement. I'm then looking to collect it at the weekend :):)

Slight update, my car is now at the dealers awaiting PDI.

Cover note is with dealer so paperwork can go to the DVLA hopefully tomorrow then assuming that comes back in a week (which it should) I should be able to pick up middle of next week :D

I'm thinking of ordering a Octavia TFSI vRS. Dealer claims if I order this week before the tracking systems shut down, he can get it ordered, built, delivered and PDI'd ready for late December/early January. He's prepared to hold my (surprisingly rather good) trade in value until delivery.

Is 7-9 weeks achievable between placing a factory order and the customer receiving it?

May all depend on colour/options etc and whats already on built stock

Very doubtful I'd say judging by the experiences of others here assuming you're having it built to order. Furthermore, until the order is actually placed, your dealer won't know when it would be built/delivered.

10-12 weeks seems more realistic judging from those currently waiting in this thread. IMHO your dealer is being just a little optimistic :)

From reading on here, looks like 3 months is the norm. I don't mind waiting, as my Clio 197 will happily depreciate for a while longer. Just means I shouldn't get too excited about getting it for the start of January. :)

Cool. If you have the PX agreed and fixed, and you don't mind the wait, then go for it and if the dealer can pull out some magic and get it earlier then all well and good

Unfortunately I think you have no chance. 8-12 weeks is what it should be but 12 to 16 is normal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is possible depending on spec But I think it is a bit optimistic.

From what I've seen on this forum most new build orders take 9 to 12 weeks

It could be a lot quicker if there is a stock vehicle somewhere in this country

If your order does come from the factory, I'm sure there will some factory shutdown time for Christmas and New Year

First post! :)

Ordered my first ever Skoda (Black vRS Estate CR170 DSG) on 6th October, being built in week 49 so dealer says I probably won't be getting it now until the new year...if only my current tax didn't run out at the end of December :(

Seems like such a long time...

Just had the dealer on the phone, my Scout was due to arrive at the dealers in the next day or two. he's just informed me that the tracking system is being shutdown this afternoon and no movements for a week.

I was hoping to get mine before the 13th but i may be very disappointed:mad:

anyone else heard anything?? he's phoning me back later to confirm 100%

Are we to believe that the whole of the Skoda network is shutting down because of a computer refit. This will mean that everything grinds to a halt, manufacturing, shipping, docks, delivery. Methinks the Czecs need some management training. After reading to-days threads, I think they need to learn how to make cars as well !!!

Disgusted from Tunbridge Wells

i'm waiting to hear back from my dealer, i've already made my feeling perfectly clear to them....:(

Monday morning it was " you will be in your car by the weekend".....

as soon as i hear anything i'll post it

My dealer emailed me yesterday with this - Your car should be built this week but Skoda are having a new computer system this month so there are no vehicle movements between the 12th till the 19th of this month.

I expect your car to be here early part of december unless there are any problems with the new computer system.

KUMQUAT are you suggesting this computer upgrade is happening now then?

Kind regards

Matt

my dealer has just confirmed that i won't be getting my car this week.

i'm being told that the system is going offline earlier than anticipated (overnight), i've asked when vehicles will be moving again and i'm awaiting a response..... hopefully it will be ealier than the 19th

disclaimer - the dealer could be feeding me a croc of ****, but we've bought 7 cars from them over the years.....i'm confused

to be fair my dealer didn't know anything about it until today, alledgedly they have gone ballistic with SUK ??
