Featured Replies

I ordered just after you (27/08/09) and current build date is estimated at week 1 which would make a delivery of begin Feb ! :( :( :(

Wow I thought mine was bad!!!! There seems to be huge differences, Is it the model/options???What have you ordered??? I am sure someone said VRS's come from a different factory?

  • Although dealers may indeed give differing stories as to build dates and arrival at dealer there is a mitigating reason for this. Two cars may be built on the same day and trained upto Emden together

Picked up mine yesterday, finally! 11 weeks from order to delivery including the 1 week stoppage time for the system upgrade. All of you still waiting, hang in there! It's certainly worth the wait! Now to find out how to enable

Teardrop Wipe

DRL

Cornering Fogs

Hazard lights on emergency breaking

Anti-hijack

Both rear fogs

Any ideas? Anyone? (I'm located in Southampton but can obviously travel to a member willing to help out, I'll have a look at the members list with Vagcomms but if you can help, please do give me a shout/PM).

I have just heard from my dealer that the new Skoda computer system has crashed! I am still awaiting a delivery date, my car has been at Sheerness port for 3 weeks. Anyone else heard this or is it my dealer trying to explain away another delay - so far it has been 3 months from order.

Finally got into the site after these tech issues as I forgot my password and reminder link aint sending one when i click on it. Anyway I rang my dealer on Monday for an update as I had not heard nothing from them since I ordered end of week 42 but my order was put in week 43 with a build week of 47 as I rang back obtain my build week. I was told I would get a call back but I again had to ring yesterday as no one got back to me and I was told that the new computer system had crashed and was causing probs, anyway I had a call back today to be told my car has been built and was in UK already thats seems like record time considering some of the waiting times on here, so good news to a point, but there is a but... Dealer says today that before my car comes to dealership he has to deliver other orders to customers in order for the cash to be released to pay for the next batch of ordered cars to be released to the dealer so I will be waiting a bit longer but I dont know how much longer as he couldnt put a time on it, he said there is plenty of others in front of me waiting too.

Well it's not quite vanilla, but not that different from others on here :

- 1.8 tsi Elegance

- Multifunction steering wheel with Bluetooth, maxidot.

- MDI

- Tyre pressure monitoring

- ESP

- Storm Blue metallic

I guess not many people seem to have ordered storm blue. Maybe they've run out of paint ... :)

If I'm getting a brand new car, I would try and go to see it before I collected usually as soon as it is delivered to the dealer.

Never felt the need to actually drive it before it becomes mine.

On day of collection I will carefully inspect and check car over before I paid the money or sign finance agreement

I always try to collect early in the morning just in case I find something wrong which then gives them time to fix the problem before the end of the day

add to that is possible pick up on a dry day or atleast when its not been raining atleast you can check the paint work. Have to say trying to get a problem fixed after you have left the dealership is nearly impossible do check everything take your time. (check the doors have not been opened onto something and taken the paint off). And any problems that cannot be fixed there and then get in writing that they will. I've had the old "oh yeah I will get that sorted" and then it gets forgotten.

I've got virtually the same spec as yours, except I've got DSG & sports suspension with 17" alloys as well.

It's the same colour as yours & I pick it up on December 3rd.

Well I had a good and bad conversation with my dealer this evening

The good: my vRS will be here on 31st Dec so should take delivery first week in Jan

The bad: he read out the extras on the car and missing was the rear parking sensors (NOT LOL)

They are going to speak to SUK on Monday to find out the full story

For me ordering a new car is having it to the exact spec I want for which I am prepared to wait and pay a lot more than a nearly new car.

This could be where its a dealbreaker and I walk away. I do not want a retrofit that will not look exactly 100% to manufacturers original and not be connected to the Bolero graphics

If the order has been cocked up I shall be insisting that SUK contact the factory and amend the order, build is second week in Dec. Could be an uphill fight I now face

Sorry to hear that mate, well, maybe you should wait for your exact spec, price protected and insist on front and rears at no extra cost??

What's tear drop wipe? If the facility exists for hazards on breaking why is it not already on?? Never heard of that.

Here's an update on my vRS estate......After a very frustrating week, unable to get hold of anyone who could tell me anything, or that the computer had not crashed, I get a call this morning to say that the car is due to be delivered next week. Ordered on 21st September (week 39), and I was told that it was on a week 46 build. Options were, black metalic paint, rear park assist and the auto light/ dimming rear view mirror/ auto wipers.Unable to collect it until Friday :( but that does mean a whole weekend to play!Overall not too bad a wait, but you can't have everything!

See what you're saying but I see big problems if I waited another 3 months for this. The wait I could accept but I can not see my dealer honouring the price on my Focus ST with a price he gave me in Sept. Also this car coming is already a pre-increase model (ordered 28-9-09)

As it is their fault they should. I waited an extra eight weeks for mine (on top of the original ten) and got the same trade in price, plus lots of extras. Admittedly they did deliver the wrong car the first time ...

I placed my order the last Sat in Sep and picked it up this morning...two weeks before it was actually due!! I don't seem to have had any problems at all.

1.8 TSI Octavia now mine sitting proudly on the driveway, can't wait to stretch its legs tomoro morn on a lovely sunday drive.

My parents had a simalar problem when they ordered a new BMW. They insisted they order a car because they need a car and a car of that spec. So BMW registered the incorect spec car and lent it to them for 3 months whilst they waited for the correct spec car to arrive.

In the latest issue of Auto Express, the used car section featured the Octy in their 'model finder/which one should you buy' feature. First place was the Mk 2 2004 -2009 Second place was the Mk 1 1998 - 2004 Third place was the current Facelift which reads :- " Given the success of the Mk 2 Octavia, bosses kept changes to a minimum for the 2009 facelift. Externally, there was a reprofiled nose and headlamps, while the cabin was treated to some classy new materials. However, under the skin, the old 1.6 FSI petrol was replaced by the excellent 122bhp 1.4 TSI turbocharged unit from the Golf, while the larger 2.0 litre FSI made way for an all new 160bhp 1.8 turbocharged powerplant. Both record over 40mpg and deliver sparkling performance. As before, diesel fans could choose between the long serving 105 bhp 1.9 TDI or the newer 2.0 litre with either 140 or 170 bhp. The firm also introduced a common rail 1.6 TDI that produces only 119g/km. Service intervals are either fixed at 10,000 miles or varied by computer to extend as far as 18,000 miles and two years. ONLY A LACK OF AVAILABILITY AND HIGH PRICES PREVENT IT FROM BEING OUR TOP CHOICE HERE"

Great :D

It does seem to be the 1.8 TSI's that are coming through sooner rather than later. I'm still waiting for my 1.9 TDI.

Well mines been built !

Dealer just told me that it was built on 25th November, its on its way to Emden, then Grimsby, guess it should be here in 3-4 weeks.

Early christmas present perhaps.

Ordered on 29th Sept, had a few extras fitted, so that may have slowed it down. Thinking on, I wonder what the total weight of the extras is? I bet that could have a negative effect on performance !

Hell yeah, those full leather heated seats weigh a ton and will kill the performance. You best rip 'em out now. Luckily for you, I have an Octy coming with standard seats, and as I don't need the extra performance I'll happily swap with you :D

I guess the extra weight of the leather will be balanced by how much lighter my wallet is.......

My smilies wont work.......

Picking my scout up tomorrow.... its been the longest 15 weeks of my life.. Roll on 3.00pm tomorrow

Pics pls!

Hey foo, absolutely chuffed to bits with it, bizarrely enough quieter the my old L&K? Xenons are particularly good I tried to post some pics earlier on tonight but it didn't work. not sure it will work till the main site is back online. i'll definitely get some up asap and start a new thread btw i was surprised to find that mine had folding door mirrors...not sure when they were introduced?? Jon

I'm gunna pretend I am not jealous of your folding door mirrors. Had they been an option I would have ordered them. My wife now prefers driving my Scout to her Mini. I just need to make sure she remembers who's car is who's.

to be honest,.... i'd no idea until i picked it up. Now the dancing girl in the back....that's a nice touch :)

I've ordered my new FL Octavia VRS TSI DSG Estate in Race Blue on the 14th November. The options list is rather extensive... (I've ordered all options bar the spare wheel and privacy glass). I've been told that it may be February when I get my new car, but to be honest I told my friendly dealer in edinburgh that they can put me back if it means getting the new 10 plate. The salesman told me this is likely to happen.
