I was driving down the A12 some years ago in a Rover P5B Coupe like the one above, and the bonnet flew completely open. It wasn't much fun at 70mph.

Talbot Tagoras, havent seen one for years and also the Peugeot 604. I think the old 70s and 80s Renaults are the rarest cars, when did you last see a Renault 6,11,12, etc etc.

I had a ride in a 1980 Talbot Tagora 2.2GL only a couple of years ago. In the flesh its weirdly kind of OK, the interior and exterior have striking likes not so different from the Citroen XM and there are touches of the car used in later Peugeot's too. It was huge inside, quiet and comfy!

It's been years since I saw an Alfasud (probably due to the fact that most of them rusted within 5 minutes of leaving the factory...) but they were great fun to drive

A few I rarely see now,

Peugeot 505 ( I think most were bundled off to Africa along with the last of the 504s. Even 504 pick ups are making stupid money on ebay for export still).

and vanishing quicker than a whiskey at an AA meeting, the Citroen C15.

I've seen a Maestro hatch and a Maestro van recently in the last couple of weeks, a 1987 Mini yesterday and I'm the owner of a Peugeot 504GL and Talbot-Matra Rancho ! I know a chap with a Talbot 1100 pickup truck just 1 of 3 left in the UK. A friend also has a 504TI, and a 104ZS, I don't think I'd have room to list another mates huge collection but does include various Ranchos, Alpines, Solara, Horizons, Sambas.... you've noticed the trend? I belong to Simca Club UK too. My own past run arounds included a '78 104GL, '83 Samba LS both in the last few years, couple of 205s. Both the Samba and 104 did lots of motorway work and they buzzed along flat hour after hour from as far as Scotland through in to France, loved them - space and money as always thinned things out to the 504 and Rancho with my Fabia.

Theres loads of Alfasuds about, you just need to be in the right places to see them... they really are very plentiful.

When did anyone last see a Pug 104 or Citroen LNA though, saw one in France last week and it reminded me that they hardly exist these days.

Saw a Fiat Coupé at the weekend. Not that old but I've not seen one for quite a while.

It wasn't a Turbo but it looked standard and well cared for. Still a striking car.

I've just seen a Mk2 Escort and three Mk1s in convoy heading towards Derby. All rally rep'd up with the flared arches. Not a look I like much really but I appreciate the cars underneath!

Well except that both the original "Chitty Bang Bang" racing car and the film prop "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" were one-offs; hardly something you can say of the Renault Dauphine, Morris 1000 or Skoda Felicia RWD cabrio!

Was briefly stuck behind an old (1920's-ish) Rolls Royce today, running boards, soft top and red spokey alloys. he kept the engine running while filling it up, presumably didnt want to crank it again. It was a Chitty chitty type age but was huge and high up, the dimensions to a car today were quite different.

A very pretty well looked after car, but slower than a Sinclair C5
