Cars you don't see on the roads any more

Featured Replies

I used to have one of these

Ford Escort RS 1600i in black.

Apart from the Recaros in my Rallye, the seats were the best in any car I've owned.

Very, Very Nice! IMHO One of the best colours too. Though I'd prefer the original orange indicators :P

That said, I'd have to add this one to a thread called "Cars I wished I'd owned & would have been willing to offer a body part for!".

The big problem with 300ZXTTs is that the turbos (yes plural) only have a life of about 60_000 miles.

Our 200SX had 2 turbo`s too

Not very strong to be fair ;)

Always thought they were just an urban myth

Where are the fusion reactor and the flux capacitor?

Where are the fusion reactor and the flux capacitor?

I think that’s the base model. It would need speccing up for the time travel stuff.

I've a tin of flux in my shed thats been around for decades! Does that count?

Would a fondue reactor work?

Ahhhh... Depends... Cheese or Chocolate fission?

Ahhhh... Depends... Cheese or Chocolate fission?

Chocolate fission, sounds like a tasty bit of physics. Or would that be fission chips?

its a while now but i cut my teeth on these types of cars when i first started in the motortrade as a mechanic, we used to have a "Skip Brown Tunned" lotus sunbeam come in to us and i can tell you that thing bloody shifted and handled well, Good old rear wheel drive technology:)

But then - good old driver skills .

Aren't they the ones you cook in the microwave????

Now if you want to feel the full force of the fondue reactor, power it with mix of Gruyere & Monteray Jack!

Took me back to a point in time when I didn't need skin on the roof of my mouth :D

Now where's that Heuy Lewis LP ;)? ZZ Top anyone ?

Sorry OP... Gloriously OT!! Need a new thread "The 80's wasn't soooo bad; was it...?" ;)

Did anyone spot the two Renault 12's in the Top Gear Romanian road trip last night ?

Didn't see the show, but I'll think you'll find that Renault now own Dacia (& were involved for years before too) hence the Dacia Denim (aka R12)

Is that better, Mr Pedant :P

I saw one at Sainsbury's in Worksop. There is also one that lives in S2. Don't know if it's the same car, but the owner obviously prefers the better class of supermarket if it is.

I'd like to bet there arn't too many of those on the roads in the South Yorks & North Notts area

'Nowt wrong wi Tesco, ooohhhh you flash thing! ;). We used to dream of Tesco's! Some times I show my son where the Tesco's is and tell him that if he cleans enough chimneys 'e'll be able to shop there too; one day! :P

Second that about Visa GTi - same chassis as Pug but rusted in half the time (even thinner metal).

Ah, MG Maestros. I had a 4-carb 1600 in Germany for 2 yrs - got as much attention as a Ferrari, it must have been the only (LHD) one in Germany, complete with male voice (UK was female, but Germans wouldn't be told what to do by female). The turbo was quick in a straight line, but was so nose-heavy it ploughed straight on when it came to corners - or, as Car magazine put it, for: sprints like a greyhound, against; whines & yelps, summary: a dog of a car.

Well getting to the point, so few Escorts, even of the last ones. Oh, where are you Essex Boy with your XR3i? Where are you with your Fiesta XR2i - a great favourite in Germany where insurance was on engine power and the XR2i carb was 96bhp and just below the 100ps mark - saw one yesterday.

ps had a Moskvitch once, taught me all I needed to know about working on car safely (jacked collapsed once, for example)

Sorry just seen, wrong "cheep" :o!

Any chance you can get a flux capacitor for my Octy? I could do to wind the clock back a bit ;)

Well, that's a one-off in that colour. Even when they were new, I only ever saw pearl white, silver and black ones.

My mates old man had one of those, I'm sure it was yellow, may have been the pearl white though, my spazzy eyes do that sometimes :(

I bet you don't see many MK 1's like this, in this bad a colour!!!!!! My first one!!!

It isn't blue, it was a nasty dark purple! Not great!
