What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

The mrs phoned me a couple of minutes after leaving home this morning to say the glow plug light was constantly flashing on her vRS.... Got her to come back home and found she had no brake lights so obviously a failed brake light switch. Gave Matt at Autohaus Dolby a call at about 9:30.... He ordered a replacement VW switch which arrived after lunch, I then headed down there this afternoon and was all replaced and sorted in less than 20 minutes!!! Now that is great customer service!!!

Just got to collect the replacement foglight surrounds and Diamond Silver paint from the dealers now to replace the ones nicked off the mrs' vRS by some low life little scrote last Friday!!!!!

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

  • modified the cup holder     It's now a hobnob holder

Nearly used all the fuel from the 55l tank!!!

This week the girlfriend has been the VRS this week as I changed the clutch on the Fiesta over the weekend so was just checking it was OK for a few miles.

How does she reward me? By running over a nail on her way home and getting a puncture! Fortunately the tyre pressure monitoring system went off :)

Thankfully the tyre should be repairable as the nail went through at least 50-60mm from the shoulder, but I still have to go and sort it! Also glad I bought a full size spare :)

Forgot to add - the spare is a black Audi RS4 (I think), but with it on I quite like the look of black wheels....

Removed both offside door panels to see why the door handle light on the front one wasn't working and see what was rattling in the back one. Handle light just wasn't plugged in and the rattle in the rear was the hook cable not sitting properly into its clip. Two easy fixes so happy days.

Assuming the tank is approx 55litres.. And youve brimmed it back up.. Youve filled the filler neck aswel as the tank ;).

First click bud

Lol, never won on the lotto Mike and I was a little worried sat in traffic needing that fuel

106.9 is the cheapest down here but that was another 5 miles away :(

Following on from this:

Fixed the puncture. Only £15 to have it repaired at my local tyre shop. Happy bunny again.

Turned tcs off for the first time in any car.

WAY more fun :)

Loaded it full of crap from the garden and took it to the dump.

Filled up the screen washer as the light has been on for a week or two now and found the bonnet stay clip was gone :(

Cheap part thankfully, will try Euros before Skoda.

Evicted the ten-ants. And the spiders and the leaves and some of the other stuff that was hiding up front near the hot brummy part.

As you can probably see I didn't go any further down than the group of pipes that runs across the bulkhead as below this was just mud and A. It would take an age to get off and B. it would come back before you know it. I just used a wheel brush, some MF cloths, a paintbrush and some soapy water. No spraying so no electrics needed covering.

And booked it in for a trackday at Snetterton on November 9th.

Looks really good...

This is pretty much my job for tomorrow, too. MoT on Tuesday... Should be OK.

I hope.

Wow, great job on the engine bay, makes me almost want to clean mine  :D

Fitted a Transcend drive pro, wired into a blank fuse with a female 12v socket hidden behind the dash :) happy with the results.

Took it for 2 new Kumho Ecsta Le Sport tyres, as the front Dunlop SP Sportmaxxes that were on before were at the depth markers!

All wheels off and cleaned, wheel arches cleaned out.
Fitted AlloyGaiters, even though the wheels are already in a much worse state than I'd wish for, all in all.
Driving school cars. Meh.

Ben, give me 6 numbers for next Saturday's lottery -- you definitely have luck on your side!

On a side note, 108.9 for diesel? Cheapest around Whitby is 110.9 at the moment. Never seen it lower than that for years.

Mike

104.8 at costco ;)

Well I didn't do it. Parked for just over 10 mins on a wide straight road outside my daughter's school. They drove off.
