What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

You might find it's to do with putting it in the OEM mic location, that it's picking up some wind noise in that location. Try it on a small piece of Velcro at the end of the headlining, where it meets the top of the windscreen.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

  • modified the cup holder     It's now a hobnob holder

I also found that on SWMBO's Golf, with the microphone in the OE position it was very quiet, I ended up placing it on the corner of the light surround - closest to the driver.

I have mine stuck to the lid of the sunglasses holder at the drivers side corner nearest the windscreen. Seems to work fine from there with no complaints from the I'm calling and the sunglasses holder is still fully useable.

Re the screen surround by the way I prefer the Silver! - It's a grower!

And... over the weekend but not today... fitted LED sidelights, 50w HID Dipped Beam and +30% Main Beam.

removed headlights to check out wiring the redundant sidelights to the DRL's as running lights. Got the amber LED's yesterday - job for the weekend me thinks!

Got the car serviced, plus brake fluid change, and got some more vrs mats, current ones will go back in winter, original ones gave to a mate

New discs and pads on front, good clean and anti-squeal/seize used aplenty! Time to get brake fluid changed too methinks.

Removed, Cleaned and Reinstalled Green Cotton Air Filter

Attempted to install Anti-Squeql rear brake kit, got halfway through, got confused, put it all back as it was and then got onto Briskoda forums for some help! :)

Got the Piper exhaust fitted. Needs some adjustment:

Noticed this just now:

s bad enough when you kerb a wheel. But to give a tyre fitter a perfect wheel and get it back with scratches, gouges and a dent in the rim is really f-ing annoying. Will be going back to see him today. Not happy.

Oh dear, I am always present when they fit tyres, do not trust them

I've been using this guy for ages and he knows how I am about my car.

Can't believe he failed to mention it.

so will he pay £100 or so for a replacement

NZ RRP $668.92 per wheel. Next delivery due from Italy in December 2011. Unless airfreight is paid.

He said take the wheel in next week and he'll send it away for repair :)

He wasn't happy though and said he won't fit tyres to my wheels again.

Not good Rob! Exhaust is a bit wonky too ;)

Looks like there's a slight warp on the wheel now, as if force has been applied? Perhaps with a tyre lever?

He might not be happy, but it's his fault! Can't imagine you'd be too happy using him again anyway.....

Managed to get Brake Anti-Squeal Kit fitted - it seems to have banished that cow that was hiding under my boot for good!

Also taken delivery of front mud flaps, but unbelievably i do not have a 6mm drill bit needed to drill into the flap for installation - why they dont just come from the factory with a hole in them is beyond me!

Cheers

Weird on the flaps - all the ones I've ever fitted (several Fabia sets and Mk2 Octy) have come with pre-drilled holes?

They genuine Skoda I take it??

Same !

Mike B and i recently fitted them to ours and they were pre-drilled, OE Skoda items.

Apologies, its not actually the flap that needs drilling, the flap is genuine skoda part and comes with three predrilled holes which run up the wheel arc, and one predilled onto the bottom plate.

The problem is that on my Octavia VRS there is no hole in the wheelarch to correspond with the third and uppermost of the predrilled hols on the flap itself.

Having checked the instructions it does suggest there is some need for drilling with a 6mm bit, having done a quick search here it seems that there is actually a mark already on the wheelarch, which corresponds with where you need to drill.

Still seems a bit of a faf on mind you!

Cheers

Sounds like my elderly mothers gardener , he cut her lawn and broke the leg off her outside table when she was out, she rang them for them to give her abuse and to get another gardener :o

Fitted my New Locking Wheel nuts (old ones were really mushed up)

Gave the car a wash then finished it with Meguirs Last Touch spray

I put a magic tree in my car because this happened last night....

you can just make out someone behind the BMW

Thought it would be a good idea to do a Burnout in the 5 series!

my car still stinks!

Washed it after getting it a bit muddy last weekend

Oiled the sticky bonnet catch allowing the small handle behind the grille to move forward as it was designed to

Looked at selling the car :'( :'(

Took it back to Skoda, was quoted a price and gladly walked out the door, the price was a insult :thumbdown:

Needless to say if I was to get another skoda in a few years time, it won;t be that dealer
