What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Got new front discs fitted and then went for a proper drive for the first time in ages. I've only done short trips for quite some time now and today I covered about 130 miles, most of them pointless. I had great fun :)

Also tried to remove the front grille for respraying but all the screws have rusted :(

Hoping to get it cleaned tomorrow. It hasn't been done in ages due to me damaging a tendon in my wrist a couple of months ago and I'm getting a bit ashamed of how it looks :(

Out to wash it shortly emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Not today, but have literally sat down for the first time since yesterday morning.

Changed the intercooler for a new 2nd hand one after realising just how filthy mine actually was :dull:

If that was a radiator for a fridge, compressor would have broken

Holy cow! Surprised you were getting any boost with the SMIC in that condition! emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

How the hell did it get into that condition? And did you do a bit of wheelarch venting while you were there? Missed opportunity if not...

I know! When I bought the car the top IC boost pipe was slighly off, I guess oil from this + road muck = a very sticky mess. It would certainly explain why my dyno runs were down on expected power.

The vent mod was in my plan as well, but I couldn't find one in the few places I tried Sat morning. Probably just as well it took me a lot longer than I expected to do. First attempt resulted in limp mode, which meant that the bumper had to come off again...Check all the boost pipe connects, nothing.... clip the MAF sensor back into the IC properly, bingo. :dull:

Reset the engine light and she's all good again.

In my rush to get it done, the bumper isn't quite on right, so it's got to come off again anyway, so I'll try and get the vent mod done this weekend B)

Good stuff. Remember when I had my FMIC fitted, driving round the block with the bumper still off, to check connections were all OK :)

Where did you try for the vent bits?

Wickes, then focus only to find it shut... :dull:, a couple of those everything under one roof homeware shops and the hardware shop in my parents village. All nothing :(

Fair enough - think I got one from B&Q, the time I did mine.

Another option is to get a Mk1 TT arch liner and then cut the vent from there. You can end up with a bit more OEM look doing it that way. Maybe search for one being broken on eBay, as a cheaper option?

Hmm, just had a quick look. £28 for a 2nd hand TT arch liner vs £5 from B&Q

Yeah, didn't think it would be the cheapest way of doing it :)

Surprised it's that much 2nd hand really. When I had my 1st Fabia I got one from the dealer, and I'm sure it was £19ish. That was in 2005 mind you....

B&Q it is then emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Drove mine in the monsoon rain this evening, still looking good emoticon-0103-cool.gif

Let the rain wash it :giggle:

Also found some general purpose glue so used that to glue my 2 parking sensors back into place

Put the car in for its MOT

Roof bars and kayak on for my first fishing trip this year. This was a few days ago.

Car failed MOT on a missing brake hose clip and worn ball joint, both on drivers side and managed to get them replaced for £58 including parts

Looked at my wheel arch the other day and it has a vent in it already. Was this only done on certain cars with the fabia or something?

No but he can about flashing bulbs! :D

That is only on starting up not when turning lights on , hows the car now running better, how come you replaced intercooler, not just cleaning the old one

Running much better now, it pulls even better than it ever has before, and I'm getting much better mpg too. :)

I couldn't have the car off the road for long enough to clean mine properly, also I didn't know if mine was damaged. The opportunity to buy a replacement at a reasonable price came up, so I went down that route.

Mine wasn't damaged, so I've cleaned it up, and it's now for sale.
