Drove it for the 1st time since Wednesday morning ....... can't believe how much better it felt to drive after such a short spell without it :giggle:

  • Picked up the new VRS: 2013 Fabia VRS by Graeme_Smith, on Flickr

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Correct

watched the girlfriend drive the car away, noting the lack of scratches, dents, dinks, bumps, will it come back in same condition?

sorted out someone to spray the grille black, its only taken a year of the parts living under the bed!

1st MOT test on the Octi vRS ........ it passed :)

Tucked it up in warehouse tonight, only got 400 miles left before it goes back in January.

Using Berlingo van at work and Navara on weekends.

Do you mean as part of a HP/contract hire basis, that you're 400 miles off the limit? Blimey, Jan's a long way off!

So you're still paying a monthly amount for a car you can't really use without being penalised further. You see, I knew there must be a catch to all these offers!

20,000 a year is more than enough for "normal" punters.

When I started business up I was running around like a loony trying to get accounts, so that was when I banged on the miles.

It's only 6p per mile if I go over, but I'm a bit tight so I'll use alternatives for a while.

I would do the 400, and then negotiate a deal with them, seems crazy to still pay for it but cant / or wont use it

I probably will go over it, im bound to use it again before Jan and like i said its only 6p a mile so even if i did 10,000 more miles(which i wont)

it would only be £600.

When new one comes it will be all exiting to drive after using Berlingo and Navara for this short period as well!!!

My dad bought me some new car cleaning stuff for our Fabia today and I stuck a IAM sticker on the windscreen as SWMBO passed her advanced drving test.

Davy

Emptied the old car and sorted out my detailing stuff for my new one

Just stuck £67.77 of Diesel in her!

Fitted my new front seats from a 3dr Golf GT TDi.

1st impressions are the seats feel alot harder to start with but after a short period of sitting in them they feel much comfier than the Octavia Seats. The sliding base also has alot more choices adjustment and I've found I'm able to get comfier quicker

The shoulder support in the Golf seats also feel a little lacking compared to the Octavia seats but the lower back support is far better in the Golf seats which is what I was after. B)

(Well, a couple of days ago)

Took it for a rapid run out to the coast, making good legal progress on everything else on the road, stopped for fish and chips and to take the dog for a walk on't beach, then did it all again on the way home.

Got it home and washed it, then used Autoglym Aqua Wax for the first time. I'm lazy and got fed up the last time i gave it a proper wax, so thought i would give the Aqua Wax a go, im very pleased with the results, nice and shiny and its all integrated into the drying process so no extra effort needed.

The inside needs a clean and a hoover where the dog has brought half the beach in with her, but i can see the hoover falling over and damaging the bodywork in this wind!

Cheers

How do they compare colour wise to the rest of the interior and particularly the rear seats? Presume you just fitted the fronts? Any problems with the rails or anything or were they just straight 'plug & play' ?

They are lighter than the rears although once fitted they don't look too bad, I'll try and get a picture at some point tomorrow if not you'll be able to see them at the Shark RR Day

Yep, plug and play B) , slide seat forwards and undo 2 spline bolts, slide seat back undo 2 spline bolts, tip seat back undo wiring remove seat from car

Instructions and pics of bolts to undo can be found here

I only fitted the fronts, the rear bench is a single piece and has a different mounting system to the Octavia however the back of the rear seats look like they will fit although mine don't have the armrest or ski rack hole so will probably keep my rears as they are. (Maybe retrim the front and rears to match :giggle: )

I wouldn't say these are a sporty seat (The Fabia vRS is still top of my leaderboard for comfort and support) but they are a good comfy seat which holds you a little firmer than the OEM seats.

Matthew

Thanks for that. I did consider these as the bolster support looked a bit better.

Will probably end up with something else though as from your very useful review, I don't think they're quite what I'm looking for :)

Yes, I saw your post, like you say the bolster doesn't look too bad (and it isn't), I know you've been looking for a while and I felt kind of guilty for getting them, Sorry.

Try them out at the RR Day then you know if they are what your looking for .

No, no - not at all, don't worry about that

Have just been keeping an eye out that's all and hadn't considered that those might be worthwhile. Think I'll probably end up with GTi or R32 seats to be honest :)

R32 seats B) sweet.

I had a look at Steve's ED30 seats that he replaced these GT seats with and they look the muts nuts, they look so much more supportive and will no doubt be really nice to sit in, he also couldn't praise them high enough.

Will see what happens, but ideally I don't want leather as it annoys me, so hopefully there's potential to get some that someone's upgraded from...

Nice bark you have there Rob especially under the bridge! B)

Bought a sticker from ChrispyVRS and also treated the car to new wipers from ebay and a wipedown with Rain-X

Got M O Teed again, sailed through
