The car you had with the highest mileage (petrol or diesel)

Featured Replies

I had an Audi A4 1.9tdi (90bhp :( ) i brought with 105k on it, sold with 227k.

Other than an oil leak, the engine and most of the car were fine. The only reason i sold it, was 90k miles on lowered uprated suspension, and 18" wheels had taken its toll on the suspension, and i needed to spend large amounts to get it through its MOT :(

I had a civic coupe 1.6ils which I bought for going to college a year and a half ago. Had 82k when I got her and its now 132k, but I just had it replaced for an 03 octavia Vrs for my birthday  which I luv!!! ;)

My last car, a golf mk3 tdi 110, had 142,000 when I sold it and had never had any engine related issues.

One of the bin lorries (it's an R plate) has just gone onto it's second engine as the old one gave up at 329,000...

My current Fabia (PD100) is currently on 120k

this is good news, as just bought swmbo a civic 1.6 LS (not the coupe, the roverish one) and that has 114,000 miles on it, sounds lovley when revved to 7k ;) engine seems spot on!

My fave high mile car was my Lancia Thema Turbo, 135,000 miles, only work in that time was a new (second hand) turbo at about 120k,

my actual highest miles was... wait for it.. a CITROEN! :o one of my driving school cars, a VTR, ran it to 155,000 miles, engine was still a sweet as ever (it ate a few gearboxes thouigh as all citroens do!)

the fiats not doing bad 93,500 now, and still feels like new :p I'll be keeping this too, so watch this space!

my vRS was barely run in, I got rid of that at 80k.

My personal highest mileage of a car i've owned is 49.500 in my Clio 182, Fabias following second at 46,200 and then my mondeo third, got rid with 42.200 on the clock

personal highist mileage is the fabia at just clocked 94k. Other than that I've had a pug 306 at a claimed 113k (it was probably more like 160k) a pug 406 with a claimed 49K (more like 249k as it was an ex cab) rover 214 8v with 98k on the clock when I sold it with its head gasket nearly gone (used to drink water) still ran though lol

D reg vauxhall cavalier 175k miles on same clutch only ever cahged pads batt and exhaust , and even after sitting on drive for 2 years it still fired up , it to scrap yard for the space .

My Octy vRS is currently on 107,000, still running like a dream!

My octy is on 147k, same clutch, same exhaust, only stuff changed is general service stuff.

O/t but I think the ZX was all steel; the BX used plastics for the bonnet and tailgate though.

my zx was plastic coated, as are several other citreon models from the time, that was a 1.9 turbo diesel 14 years old at the time with only 72000 miles on it, regret trading her in for a 4 year old rover which was a money pit, head gasket, ecu and gearbox failure before it made 35000 miles!!!

back to subject my highest mileage was in 1st place a 1.8 escort estate petrol with 199,000 when i scrapped it,

2nd highest was a l reg clio 1.2 4 speed manual gearbox, 179000 miles, probably the highest mileage 1.2 clio ever lol

The most i've ever put on a car is 55k on my Octavia 1.9 TDi Elegance Estate.

I did have a Cavalier that I bought on 90k and sold on 110k

I currently have 7k on my Mazda and 2k on my Renault trafic :)

highest by far is my current fabia vRS, just about to tick 140000 miles in it, only servicing and a turbo at 122000miles.

Matt

my dad has a 54 plate A4 estate 1.9tdi thats is on 250k and still going alrite! only had one issue with it where it was drinking water apart from that its going well. still on the original clutch aparently!

one of the lorries at work, a 7 1/2 tonne curtain sided scania and driver have both clocked over 1 000 000km together. crazy!

Various company cars I had over the years racked up around 100k (we once worked out that at one time we were spending something like 50% of our working hours driving around)

Highest mileage private car was a Vauxhall Chevette which ended up with around 120k miles before the dreaded tin weevil got to just about every panel. It ended up being written off by an acquaintance who did stock car / demolition derby.

Currently the vRS has 95k on it.

My current Fabia vRS is the highest, just got to 96k and she 'aint going nowhere for another 96k either, not now my missus has a company car which is good as it saves the miles off the Fabia.

Only problems are the 'usual' Fabia ones and a Turbo at 65k.

I had a petrol A reg Fiesta that had 75k and a petrol F reg one with 60k.

I have a 1960 Morris Mini Minor in the garage with only 80k on the clock.

My Audi S2 has 199,700 miles on it, and I still have it :D

1990 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6gl finished that on 234k. Then went to a 1991 Cavalier 2.0gls with 132k on the clock but I didn't get on with it....then to a 1993 Cavalier SRI which I bought for the princely sum of £750 on 116k and then took it up to 240k. I sold it on for £400...ahhhh cheap motoring :)

I took my Golf from 18k to 122k in two years. It didn't like it much....

AH - cavs - great for high mileage -sold my 91 one at approx 120k -

Volvo V70 T5 sold last year 02 plate on 295,000!!!

I had an Audi 100 Avant Quattro on a G-reg it had an oettinger engine conversion on it took it upto 200bhp without a Turbo - just a stretched displacement to 2526cc. It belong to an old woman (bought it when she was 65) and she ran it for 17 years before I bought it - used every weekend for 15 years to do Edinburgh to London to see her Grand-kids - sI bought it on 376K & I put 8K on it in 3 months - It was an amazing machine easily seeing off the clock at 160mph (on a disused runway!!!!) but the best i got out of it was 16mpg!

Bought for £1000 off ebay and sold to a classic car dealer in Yorkshire for £6800 after changing the fuel tank for a brand new Audi one & changing the suspension! (oh and added the Porshce 8x16's all round for fun!)

Nice Audi bud!

The highest mileage car I ever owned was a C-reg white 1.8 Astra GTE. I bought it with 125,000 miles on the clock and sold it 10 months later with 143,000 miles. Never used a drop of oil either. Only got rid of it, cause it got broken into 4 times during my ownership, and in the end I just got sick of thieving barstewards trying it on. My anti-theft attempts included fitting a manual switch to the coil and hiding it under the dash; disconnecting the door locks (cause they were pee-easy to turn with a screwdriver); and taking out the rotor arm if I left the car for a few days. Anyone who has ever owned one will know what I mean about them being easy steals.

My current fab vrs has 109,000 miles on the clock!

We sold our 1.6 SOHC mk2 Astra with 114k on the clock; the engine was still as sweet as a nut. :)
