Parrot Hands Free Battery Drain ?

Featured Replies

I've got a 2007 Octy 2.0 TDI with battery problems - not enough in the battery to start the car after a couple of days. Dealer is saying that my Parrot hands free maybe causing the problem in that it does not allow the car to go into sleep mode and is thus draining the battery. I've had the car from new and the Parrot has been fitted for over 2 years, but the battery problem has only surfaced during this cold spell.

Has anyone else heard of any such issues with hands free devices.....??

Meant to mention that i've got the CK3200 LS model which is wired into the stereo and uses the car's speakers...

Thanks...

The garage are talking rubbish!!

Looks like they are trying to avoid replacing the battery.

Go to another dealer is my advice

yep battery has had it , not unheard of at all dealer is trying to avoid replacing it

We have had our parrot kit on the car for 3 years a 2006 car with the original battery still

is the parrot connected to a switched 12v supply, dont forget the octy does not have one behind the headunit.

it could well be the parrot unit draining the battery, which will be weaker in the cold weather and as it ages.

ive got the parrot ck3100 in my mk1 VRS and i have no problem . mines connected to the head unit which works off the ignition so only turns on when the engine is on

A mate of mine bought a transit van and could not fathom out why 2 new battery's drained over the weekends, he decided to test the drain and found out something was still on even though he checked, it turns out there was a parrot box under the dash the one all the cables go into and it was very hot so he pulled it out and has not had any more problems since it took 2 weeks for this box to cool

I had the same problem, but it was the skoda radio/cd draining the battery, a well known problem with the octavia, It was solved in a matter of minutes by the dealer and the battery was replaced under warranty.

The garage was very helpful at the time (skoda ashford kent).

Did they make any modification to the radio/cd before fitting the new battery to stop it happening again ?

It only comes on when the ignition is on and works whether the radio/cd is on or off......can only presume the installer found a switched live somewhere behind there....

Yes there is a software update for the Stream radio,

Yes they did, it was quick, a few minutes, paid nothing, but dont know what the job was.

I can confirm that the radio system was definitely the cause of the problem, draining the battery slowly and i can also tell you that the issue is mentioned in the honest john website with the octavia 2 problems.

Disconnect the parrot for 2 few days and you'll find out if your battery drains again then its not the parrot ;)

If the parrot says goodbye when car ignition is switched off then its' working perfectly.

Does the kit actually power off after car turned off?

Yeah it definately powers off with "goodbye" when i turn off the ignition. Pretty sure that the battery is knackered but the dealer wants to disconnect the Parrot to prove it is that causing the drain.

You might as well send the dealer your £60 fine and points for talking on your phone then if they want you to disconnect your parrot. iv got the same model in mine and its fine. i had the parrot in my leon previously and it never caused any problems with the battery.

I've got a 3200 in my car and it's fine too.

There will be a switched live from the fuse box to it if it's done correctly.

3200LS fine here as well... no battery drain issues
