PD Cupra 160 Intake **UPDATE**

Featured Replies

No one considered a group buy from somewhere? These are getting popular.

Not much point, different people living in different area's and no discount :(

Just received the 2 parts today which I ordered from my local Seat dealer 2 weeks ago.

If anyone else is in the area and wants to give them a try, the dealer is David Cook Motors in Chadderton, tel 0161 624 1441.

I think the guys name in parts was Keith, this was the 3rd set he'd sold to a vRS driver.

Cheers

Stephen

My bits came today!

Got my bits today! Woo hoo!

Couple of things, people mentioned cutting the flaps out, I don't want to do this but neither of these parts appear to have flaps on them?

Also, the car is going into the garage on Sat for a few small fixes - including the clear plastic covering the dials which somehow managed to crack itself while ~I wasn't looking :thumbdwn: plus creaky rear brakes, badly adjusted headlamps and the glovebox light met with some hamfistedness when I was running the power cable for the amp...

Question is, if I fit these now, do you think the garage would notice the change? I know they're VAG standard parts, but they are stamped SEAT if you look hard enough... took the green filter out for the time being too, as you can tell without looking inside the airbox if the filter has been changed (the orange rubber of the standard filter is visible from the outside even with the lid on, but the Green filter has a black rubber edge... Maybe I'm paranoid... :D

The 'flaps' are on the moulding into which the new pipe is pressed (closest to the front of the car). That bit doesn't change. The flaps are to protect from ingress of water and other debris thrown up which might otherwise be sucked in.

I just did it, before you posted that, without removing the MAF plug or engine cover. Removed some skin from my knuckles though... Will go for a bit of a hoon about and see what it's like... :D

Yer I lost some skin on my knuckles until I removed the engine cover  . Rooboy poped round in his which has a one click fitted like mine and it goes like sh 1te off a shovel and rev's alot harder though that may be a placebo. :D

Resisting the urge to fit a 1-click - I bought this car to save money!!!

I might reconsider once it has 10k on the clock though, if I have a few quid lying around...

Has anyone had this modification checked on a Dyno yet? If so what are the gains?

;)

Ivan you may by from the dark side, and play with black magic.....

But the we from the light side will always truimph...... oh you might be more powerful but corner quicker..... (did I mention the eibach springs, eibach front anti-roll and rear to follow....)

OK, have been for a spin... verdict?

Seems to have slightly more induction noise, but pulls smoother. Don't know about soot, I use millers diesel plus on every fill so the car barely soots at all anyway... unless I do it deliberately to ward off muppets who tailgate in traffic

Will find out the motorway difference tomorrow on the way to / from work... I'm sure it will seem faster, the car seems to be loosening up nicely and getting quicker on every journey, nice :D

Oh yeah, saw a red ibiza cupra at the dealers too... looked nice... not sure

Yer I lost some skin on my knuckles until I removed the engine cover

Perhaps we should put a warning on the article, so that people wont sue. Oh wait sorry i forgot were not in america :D

Doh walked into that one hook line and stinker - sorry I mean sinker...

Just fitted my Seat Cupra intake.

My car is running an AMD one click remap, and the seat inlet was purchased to try and reduce the extra smoke produced on heavy acceleration.

After fitting and test drive the smoke output has reduced to the same as it was before the remap.

Also there is more 'pull' at higher revs, presumably due to the engine breathing better.

A worth while mod for remapped cars - Highly recommended for

WARNING! To all those who have recently fitted the Cupra intake. Depending on the routing of the coolant hoses in your engine compartment, the wider Cupra intake can rub against one of the small diameter hoses. My intake's only been on the car three or four days, but inspecting it today revealed the rubbing had already created a shiney patch on the coolant hose. I have wound a few layers of PVC tape around the hose to protect it. Suggest you check yours people...

Mine pulls a lot stronger at higher revs now! I'm well impressed!

Just fitted my intake today, I have to say the low down gains are noticable, however the car feels more pressed up top and an a bit slower if anything.

So mixed views really.

I think everyone needs to modify the actual intake scoop like I've done...

It's made a very noticeable difference at the top end due to the sheer amount of air being forced into the air box.
