New Gti Recall

Featured Replies

I must be missing something here. I would say that calling people "Delusional" for not agreeing with your opinion is quite insulting Nelson. In fact this is precisely the sort of behaviour you are accusing us of

However, I think the general tone of most of your posts has been one of superiority (posts 24,56,94 and 111 in particular) - personally I found the little maths lesson you offered us all in post 56 particularly patronising.

If you took the time to visit the forum now and then you would see that we are not "blinkered" Skodaholics. I respectfully suggest that 6 posts in the 11 months prior to this thread does not quite qualify you to make a balanced judgement in this respect.

No-one, as far as I can see, has said that the golf is a bad car, just that it is overpriced. Furthermore the fact that people are praising the new GTI doesn't make it good value for money (even though you may like it to).

Could you please point these 'insults' out for me? If you going to make reference to them at least actually specify or quote what exactly you mean.

Actually' date=' I think aside from a few people on here. The attitude of people on here has generally pretty stunk and therein lies the problem. Instead of entering into a debate, instead of picking up a point which someone has made you just throw a list of 'facts' and attitude at us.

:D[/quote']

Haha, oh dear.

I've probably made referance to your insults in nearly every post. Delusional, Hysterical ranting ring any bells and all because I dared to say the GTi is over priced and that my modded vRS better value.

Another one of your classic sweeping statements, "Actually, I think aside from a few people on here. The attitude of people on here has generally pretty stunk and therein lies the problem". Is that most of the 4.5K membership or just 3K.

I can't help if you don't like the fact your getting ripped off when you buy GTi.

Whos being the badge snobs now? You, from the begining i'd say.

Well I like the New Golf GTI.... but i would never buy one because I don't see why even if i have the money i should just waste money for the sake of vanity of having a VW badge rather than a Skoda one, all the same car at the end of the day... one which is impratical and has a small boot which you pay more for and the other with a vast boot which is cheaper... after all what would happen to the world if, god forbid, Hyundai came up with a fantastic Hot Family Hatch that out performed the GTI or vRS and was say 2k cheaper than the vRS (and as reliable, good customer service etc.)... but nobody brought it because it had a Hyundai badge... it would be silly! Its bloody oviouse in that situation you would go out and get the Hyundai.

Anyway, few doors down from me is my local VW dealer's manager and in his front drive is a Toureg and a vRS... NOT a GTI which he of all people you would imagine would have!

Misquoting people is also quite insulting as I have even mentioned that word in one of my posts. The first person to mention any kind of 'delusion' was CJ, everyone else ran away with it, thats not my problem, so why should I be bitter about it?

I'm sorry if you find my writing style offensive, its merely to get my point accross better, personally I don't find anything that offensive in any of those posts, unless you work for the Labour Government. 'Wud u lik me 2 spk in txt, is that btr?' :D

Just because I don't post here' date=' doesn't mean I don't peruse the forums (which I do). Many people (like me) are probably happier just browsing the forums and reading what people have to say. I feel your opinion is an extremely niave view to take, but there you are.

Fair enough, but you still not addressing the issue. The issue was whether its was better than an Octavia VRS, not better value for money, not whether they were bought by 'delusional' (first time I've used that word!) people or Toffee nosed businessman, just better. Throw the money issue out of the window and the GTi trounces the VRS, even with the money issue I still feel it does.

Actually, the issue was about the GTi recall...everything else is :offtopic:

1. Ok. Use of Delusional - post 58

2. See, you're doing it again. You're either wilfully misunderstanding me or just assuming that you are more intelligent than the rest of us. In each of the posts I specifically refer to you are patronising in the extreme to other members of the board. CJ, Kentish and Delcac

3. So you've missed the numerous threads where people talk about other cars without despairing that they're not Skodas then ? Strange.

4. Throw the money out of the window and a DB9 trounces the VRS. Assessment of "better" must include financial considerations otherwise it is pointless.

Use of the word "dellusional" (sp)

CJ' date=' I'm not trying to attack you. Looking beyond the [b']dellusional[/b] Octavia VRS owners, a couple of people like Barrie and bengie could actually see the point I was trying to make.

But going back to the original topic, people on here have been generally very flippant and gloated at other peoples misfortune, which I had to take issue with. Humour was the last thought on my mind at the time.

Haha' date=' oh dear.

Ooops, I owe Nelson an apology I keep getting him mixed up with Barrie321 (or what ever he calls himself).

Sorry Nelson!! :o

But there are other instances. :(

Actually, I think aside from a few people on here. The attitude of people on here has generally pretty stunk and therein lies the problem. Instead of entering into a debate, instead of picking up a point which someone has made you just throw a list of 'facts' and attitude at us.

This forum ticks over every day, with humour, interesting debates, and general info which may or may not be of use to you as an individual.

What I'd like to know, is how, when one or two people come along (and it's happened once or twice), and a debate starts to go sour like this, the few (who barely ever post) blame the many (who get along with, and debate with people on this forum every day) for it.

Not sure if that sentence needs a question mark on it, but I'm sure someone will be along to tell me soon

JaneC,

Perhaps some of my posts were patronising. But in reality, I've only given as good as I've got. I don't think I'm of higher intelliegence than anyone else on here either. I merely said the VRS won't handle as well as a MK5 GTi, Kentish started the Patronising posts and delcac turned if off-topic, not me. But theres no point dragging up old posts as we'll just be going around and around in Circles.

Throw the money out of the window and a DB9 trounces the VRS. Assessment of "better" must include financial considerations otherwise it is pointless.

But if a VRS is £15500 and a Golf GTi at £19995 doesn't mean they are exempt from competition. Turbo engines, similar power outputs and at the end of the day they're after the same bite of the market? If any motoring magazine tested these two cars do you think they'd say 'Buy the GTi because its the best Hot hatch since the first one' or 'Buy the VRS because you'll save £4000, which would go nicely on your new Extension and Patio'?

MonkeyHanger - Excuse me while I slash my wrists....! :D OK, so perhaps I did mention it, but I wasn't the first to though :)

I'll happily supply the knife :)

I suspect they would do prolonged testing of each vehicle, trialling them on roads in real-life situations, and on track to see which is the best "racer". They'd weigh up price considerations, build quality, dealer service, appearance, residuals, running costs and all the other pertinent factors.

They would then choose the manufacturer who supplies the best buffet.

god i wish i never opend this thread now it's turned into some mad debate!!! hmmm think admin should close it down now as the point has be heard and talked about enough said!!!

So basically they'd pick the GTi then?

and I'd be sure to slash your tyres before I did it! :D

I got bored midway through this thread. Thing is this is meant to be a forum for Skoda enthusiasts so if you aint one may I suggest you f ** k off....

Skodas are a compromise I agree. If damped grab handles give you a hard-on then don't buy a Skoda. Simple as that. The new Golf GTI is a cracking car I also agree but IS vastly over-priced for what it is.

and I'd be sure to slash your tyres before I did it! :D

I see we've found your level then

Ay? What are you on about?

Think you need to read a few more threads and posts in here chum and you'll find a great number of very complimentary comments on a wide variety of other manufactures offerings.

Why actually did you join this forum if we are "fairly well ridiculed...not by you' date=' but you can understand what THEY  say" You obviously don't seem to like what you read.[/quote']

Post 26...seems so long ago now. paragraph 2.

Nelson, instead of just dragging this now pointless thread on for ever, why don't you put a bit of your undoubted energy into some of the other various threads and topics...as is mentioned above.

You've stated your case, as has everybody else and we're going nowhere, apart from 'round and 'round in circles :(

I was about to lock this thread until I realised that the key was from a VW Golf Gti, and it's had to go back on a recall! :D

:clapclap:

That's worth a pint at the next meet Colin...Brilliant

So basically they'd pick the GTi then?

I'm not sure...I suspect with a VW buffet you would get better quality bread used in the sandwiches, but you'd get less of it than at the Skoda one.

The fillings would be the same. :D

And Skoda would supply fillings with a bit more "zing" :)

You really are a right little s h one tea stirrer aren't you ;) ...err, and watch yer spelling two young man, we're being monitored. :D

Ahhh, I see! But surely the GTi would have a Jam filling, whereas the Skoda would have a Marmite 'love or hate' filling? :D

Can't believe we wasted 10 pages worth of ramblings, when all we needed was some finest Hovis and the approprite filling :p

Ahhh, I see! But surely the GTi would have a Jam filling, whereas the Skoda would have a Marmite 'love or hate' filling? :D

Nope, the Skoda would have Jam too, but more of it and at a lower cost :)

And the crust wouldn't break thus resulting in a recall....

Can I hear the sound of heavy footsteps slowly walking up the long dark corridor, accompanied by the sound of jingling keys!

Is it the bank manager with £19,995?

Is it a man in a white coat ready to lock his patient up?

Is it the bank manager in a white coat waiting to lock his customer up? :D

NO! It's the VW techie!

THE key is ready for you sir, kindly pass it to the nearest Briskoda mod on the way out. ;)
