I have been through this list and I can't make out if any 1.9 PD 4x4s have been affected - the ones in the list mostly don't specify which engine. The reason I ask is that I have been led to believe that the repair kit won't work on the PD 4x4s. can anybody confirm this? I should point out that I don't have the problem, but forewarned is forearmed.

I have the esp problem on my 1.9 pd 4x4 and was told firstly that the kit would work then that the kit wouldn't fit but there's a guy who's posted on another topic - something like 'how to fit the esp repair kit' on this forum - he reckons he's fitted the kit to his 1.9 4x4.

trying to get a definitive answer is almost impossible - especially with many dealers denying any knowledge of either the esp problem itself or the repair kit.

I'll be most upset if I find that the repair kit does work as the price of said kit has recently shot up while I've been trying to sort out the suitability of the repair kit.

Mind you I'd be even more annoyed if I'd paid the original dealers asking price for a fix - £1500 - only to see a much cheaper fix appear from the manufacturer!

Yes mate, the 4x4 uses the same 1.9 tdi as the normal range, but obviously has different rear transmission bits. I ordered the kit for my 2006 4x4 1.9 tdi via Skoda Bradford main dealer (DM Keith), fitted it myself and its sorted... no warning lights and brakes bled as part of fitment, so nice and firm (they felt a bit spongy previously).

If in doubt, visit the main dealer to make sure you get the right part, but it does work. There is a lot of guff both on forums and from local garages re the coding, compatability etc. But you are not changing the electronic bit i.e. doesn't need recoding, just an hydraulic part, which has a faulty internal part; causing an error on the dash, hence onboard computer says no to esp etc/traction control working.

Still cost over £65 plus the diagnostics costs...... still feel ripped off now and it was a year ago.

Anybody know what the dealer fix kit is? External pressure transducer? Like the old bosch ABS units used to be.

No - they seemed very helpful - all they said they had to do was check that it came up with the appropriate code on the diagnostics!

This means I now have a spare fixing kit for the ABS - bought at old price - will have to sell on Ebay! ;)

My 2011MY FL Octavia II 1.8TSI 4X4 Estate is fittd with a Teves MK60EC1 ESP ABS pump. The PN Is 1K0 907 379BE - which does not appear on the list of common failing ECUs in the link below, although quite a few 379 versions do.

Yes you are correct there is a 1K0 907 379 part number but without the(BE - at the end, in that list)

I have noticed that your part number is the same as someone in India with a skoda 2010 Yeti (There is nothing on whether the yeti has this problem).

Do you know if its generally any mk60 that could fail and how important the part number is. ?

After days of trying to understand all this, and after ordering my skoda octavia estate a few weeks ago with the optional extra esp to be added (safety for my family Im thinking) - Its now become a right headache and I will try and cancel the order for the extra ESP, therefore just making it a MK70 (non esp) unit, which I believe there has not been any problems with.

Any help as to the above will be much appreciated as I dont want to have to go down that route.

26-coolhand6-Octavia Vrs tdi PD - reg jan 2008 fail October 2011. Dealer said they would ask Skoda to replace under goodwill so I presume they are aware of the problem. Will update when it's sorted.

27 - Andyld - Octavia Elagance with ESP as extra - Reg June2006 - Failed Nov 09 - Dealer replaced and covered about 60% of cost as goodwill. Warning lights came on again Thursday but reset themselves, hoping will be OK.

28 - stuart1350 - Octavia VRS TDI PD- REG SEP 2007, failed Jan 2012 (mileage 94,000)- quoted £610 to fix so I guess its the kit, havent asked skoda for a goodwill gesture as yet and one wasn't offered.
