Yeti spotting - result!

Featured Replies

Not a spotting report but relevant I think.

Just moving into a parking space at local Tesco carpark and heard a frantic honking of horn behind me. I immediatley thought "car park rage" and got out ready to do battle! There was an old Astra parked across the back of my car and an irate looking driver shouting out of the passenger window. Turned out he was shouting "How do you like the Yeti?" :)

He was about to replace the old Astra and had seen the TopGear program and was impressed but mine was the first live Yeti he had seen.

Fred

This is a most frequent occurence. I have been "accosted" in car parks by potential Yeti owners wanting all the details. Always ends with a very good natured chat and a friendly exchange of info.

This has also happened to me on a number of occasions. I know of two who have actually gone on to buy one, who knows about the others as they were random strangers. It happened a lot for my wife when she had a Fiat 500 but I have surpassed her numbers now with the Yeti. Who would have thought that? This has never happened before in my previous 20yrs of car ownership

A similar experience for me.

I was accosted outside the local PC World last weekend, by a potential owner who wanted to check the boot for suitability for his Rottweiler. He was pleased with the level floor, due to me having the spare wheel/false floor, and I also told him that there was a forum member with two Huskies that fitted nicely.

He seemed suitably impressed so I told him the details of our local dealer.

Meanwhile, back on topic, saw a steel grey or aqua blue Yeti on A1(M) going North passing Stevenage, as I was going South, yesterday around 2:15pm.

With closing speed of around 140+ mph not much chance to wave. :giggle:

When up visiting the Auld Biddie, the District Nurse left after doing her nursing bit, only to bound up the stairs and in the back door with a whoop "Is that YOUR Yeti down there?"

Apparently they get to lease what they want and the Yeti was on her list, and she lives up a hill and visits patients up hills and across fields and what was it like in the rain and what did it do in the snow and was it pokey and punchy to drive and was there room for a big dog in it and when could she get one.

All in one breath.

So - I told her.

Everything. Everything I knew.

Ah - bliss.

Yep this has happened to me also on a number of occaisons since getting the beast with a number of people approaching me on car parks, outside my local spar shop and numerous other locations. I have never in 44 years of car ownership had so much interest shown in what I'm driving  It's quite flattering really B)

A lot of people who got rides around Goodwood in the Yeti where very impressed from what I heard on my trips and on speaking to the drivers. I was sneaky and left a few of my business cards dotted around the Yetis, wonder if I'll get an email from a random person....

Ha Ha!! My other half accuses me of 'trainspotterism' for waving at other Yetistas. However, she confessed this morning that when she was solo in the car a few days back, that the driver of a grey Yeti (PF10 xxx)that we've seen quite a few times near Hebden Bridge waved at her ... and she found her hand coming up and waving back. Reckons it was an involuntary reaction - she didn't want to do it but couldn't resist.

LOL :rofl::rofl: Infectious .........

Took SWMBO out for a slap up meal at our local Harvesters in North Weald Essex - well you have to push the boat out a bit when you are celebrating your 35th wedding anniversary !

On the way home we saw a very tidy silver grey SM parked in a side road and , blow me down, if we didn't meet another black SM coming the other way. NO, it wasn't our own reflection in a shop window. I don't drink and drive!

Imagine my surprise, as we went to park in a field at Party On The Pitch in Camelford, an 11 plate 4x4 in Rosso Red on the end of one of the lines of cars.

Have since just nipped out to have a closer look (without touching) and noticed a Carrs of IndianQueens sticker.

Didn't hang around it too long as was getting funny looks from others.

Anyone on here??

Dom.

I followed a briskly driven ??Aqua Blue?? 59 plate Yeti down the M6 in torrential rain and hail and thunder and lightning today (Friday) south towards Penrith.

Also spotted a SUK Yeti on loan to rally stewards, in Builth Wells at 7pm today. They;d been "issued" with Skoda UK Yeti Elegance models to follow some rally or other, and had been in Scotland rallying recently too.

The guys were delighted with their free Yeti cars - but needed a quick tutorial in the Co-op carpark about the DRLs!!

I will post, with a pic in the "liveried" section tomorrow!!

Saw a muscovado 4x4 elegance yesterday on the A414 near St Albans and a amazon green one today on the A41 Hemel Hempstead. Cheery waves exchanged with both.

Delayed report, but there were 3 Yeti course cars out on the Nicky Grist Rally around Eppynt on Saturday.

I met a White one today on a windy road at Trelogan, I was so surprised that I forgot to wave lol.

Don't worry, you may get the chance to wave at my muscovado around snowdon etc at the weekend

I'm quite tempted now that I've fitted my roofbars today to go to Bala with my kayak. :)

Back on topic .....

60 Reg Steel Grey Yeti with Anapurnas and Silver roof bars seen parked in the car park of Pinehill Hospital, Hitchin 6:00pm last night. Hope the visit was nothing too serious for the driver.

Saw a new Yeti in the village on my way home last night.

White with green chequered strip down its flanks and 'Doctor on Call'. Think it may belong to the local NHS Trust.

I had my window open, stuck my arm out and waved furiously; didn't catch any response from the driver and passenger, probably concentrating on their next 'call'.

Saw at least one Yeti every day this last week on the way to work which is a first; admittedly repeat sightings on consecutive days in some cases but at least 4 different Monsters. One which I think is aqua I've seen on a number of occasions in the Fridaythorpe area but this time in Pocklington. More recognise the gent with the beard driving it and the 'permanently' attached aluminium cross rails.

I've seen one of those in berkhamstead last weekend. It does indeed say some or other NHS Trust down the sides.

Maybe there are a few of them in herts?
