Yeti spotting - result!

Featured Replies

I'm glad I'm not the only person who waves at Yeti drivers. They do look at me as if I'm mental sometimes.

I parked next to 2 Yetis in Sainsburys in Epsom the other day in our demo Yeti. 3 in a row, with sequential registration plates too! Doesn't really count I guess since both owners live in Epsom.

Missed photo opportunity James. :giggle:

See my post earlier today in reply to Kernewek.

If there's going to be another one in Cornwall I might have to think about having the monster put down and moving to something a tad more exclusive. They're not renowned for being beasts that mix easily in the wild !! (And North Cornwall can certainly be wild!)

Tut Tut, Not even got it yet and one is thinking about having it put down emoticon-0106-crying.gif. IMO one needs to be of a certain stature to be allowed/capable of owning one of these beautiful beasts emoticon-0143-smirk.gif.

And as for these beasts not mixing very well, well it all comes down to knowing how to tame and master them, as driver and SM work as one we shall guide and shape them into becoming an extended limb.

Oh, and yes North Cornwall is bloody wild emoticon-0136-giggle.gif.

Looks like the start of a colony in Nth Cornwall. Must be the country air along the Atlantic Highway. I will concede that one exception to the "wild" claim is St. Kew - had luch in the St, Kew Inn a couple of weeks ago & can't imagine that there can be many places as tranquil.

But back to the subject. As I said previously the SM seems to be very rare in this part of the world. In the past three months I've seen one ?coffee? coloured one (twice) in the car park of a residential home (I was driving by at the time, not leaving or coming home), one black beast in Morrisons' Penzance, and one white one passed me heading towards Pz on the Helston road. I certainly think they are exclusive (?reclusive?)down here. Long may they remain so.

Call from dealer today - Yeti available for collection probably next Wednesday (25th). Would you like me to test it out around the Nth Cornwall lanes and make you even more jealous???

Haven't slept very well since the first call advising that she was on the high seas. I don't wish to be thought to be rubbing it in but wondered if you might perhaps like the oportunity to drool a little more should you happen to spot another beast in your neck of the woods in the next week or so. Given that I'm getting it from Indian Queens it won't be any trouble to drive a few miles NE before coming home & settling the beast in it's kennel for the 1st time.

Be very careful around those North Cornwall lanes. On a recent holiday in the area my wife and I noticed a lot of what we christened "the Cornish Kiss" on vehicle wings, caused by contact with the Cornish countryside. :D

Ah yes! Those wonderful Cornish "hedges". Behind the greenery a solid wall of granite, three feet thich at the base tapering to approx. two feet at the top. Many a visitor in my part of the county has wondered why the hedge wouldn't give way when gently nudged by his cherished vehicle.

Mrs YY & I are heading down to St Ives with (Czech) in-laws over bank holiday weekend - watch out for a white SM with a Czech flag in the back window!

I'm not far from St. Ives - will certainly try to keep the possibility on the radar but I'm sure you'll forgive me if I'm so engrossed in my corrida red monster that you do pass by un-noticed.

There's another monster in the staff car park at my place of work ... YC60 *** . A black TDI 4x4. I'll have to try to find out who is driving it ... someone a bit 'mumsy' by the look of it; there are a couple of Disney cartoon blinds fixed to the rear side windows with those rubber suction thingys, and a dangly "Baby on Board" thing in the back window.

Is the Isle of Wight a Yeti hot spot?

Rarely see one in a week Bristol but saw 4 last week in the IOW, including a blue 4WD one on the Yarmouth - Lymington ferry.

Hi Fred,

Yep, there's quite a few over here including my very recent addition. I suppose being somewhat like a goldfish bowl and the price, even to us, of travelling on the ferry they don't tend to escape very often so the chance of seeing one is quite high!

On my maiden voyage last Sunday I did spot a 'grockle' Yeti on the Military Road near Freshwater Bay but as it was on a rather speedy corner only spotted it at the last minute and couldn't even tell you what colour it was apart from being a darkish one.

Perhaps it was you but more likely another 'foreigner':)

Aqua Blue NL60*** Elegance with Annapuna outside KFC in Arnison Centre, Durham.

Seems to be so many around nowadays.

Still not seen any for weeks around South London.....where are they all?

The North!

Saw an avocado 4x4 SE? In the car park in Sudbury Hall Derbyshire today as I was leaving around 4:30pm. Still a surprise seeing 2 in a car park. ;-)

The North!

They certainly seem to be......emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

I see more Aston Martin, Ferrari's, Lambo's, Range Rovers, Bentleys etc than I do Yeti. I just love the exclusivity emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Cashcows are 2 a penny down here. Seeing more Tiguans as well.

I am seeing absolutely loads of Nissan Jukes around Epsom, why are people buying these Jukes? Are they really good or something, they look a bit small in the back because of the shape of the roof, plus they look at little odd. Like a startled frog.

They seem to be breeding like rabbits here on the Isle of Wight too James! I like funky designs, hence loving the Yeti, but the Juke is just a step too far in my opinion or perhaps they're an aquired taste. I think 'startled frog' is a brilliant description

Nissan Qashqai's are as common as Focus's up here. Lot's of Jukes too (maybe as there built down the road?)

Far as I am aware there are 5 Yeti's,(maybe more) including ours, around these parts. 1 of the kids parent's in my 11 yeaar old daughters class recently got an Elegance 110 TDI in candy white, after making inquires about our Yeti some months ago. So they often park next to mine at the school.

Also while waiting at some traffic light's yesterday, an aqua blue Elegance pulled up beside me, the passenger and driver an old couple. They smiled politely, despite my window being down blasting out the band 'Testament'

Muscovado (Mato) Yeti Riva del Garda Main Street today only - one so far....plenty of Tiguans but the place is overrun with Germans registered cars....

Did see a couple of new 5 Series Beemers yesterday with 'Hybrid Test Vehicle' on both flanks - crept up on us,so must have been on battery power?

Sat enjoying Machiatos in The Casino @ Arco, thisam, having cycled on the 40lb hotel (free) bikes from Riva. Next table was a very stylish elder gent from Milan. He says how wonderful to hear English - I'm fed up of hearing German.....

BTW, thisarea was Austrian until 1913, so a lot of German is still spoken!

DIY Yeti day in Aberdeen today. Seen 2 in the B&Q carpark Garthdee and another one heading in that direction
